Popular Wiener Dog Derby Returns this Saturday to the Meadowlands Racetrack

This Saturday, June 14, is the return of the Meadowlands Racetrack’s renowned Wiener Dog Derby sponsored by Home Floor & Decor! 2025 is the seventh running of this popular track event.

This family-friendly event features dachshunds racing at the track between live harness racing. It’s a night of fun, laughs, music, doggies, and horse racing. And the best part? Admission and parking are free. This event takes place rain or shine.

This year, eighty doggy contestants will compete in eight heats that begin at 6 p.m. with the Wiener Dog Final on the track at 9:25 pm. Each heat features ten dogs racing, or frolicking, to the finish line. The eight heat winners move on to the final, which takes place on the actual racetrack.

In addition to the pooch activity, fans can enjoy a variety of activities. They can party with DJ Alx, indulge in great food and cocktails featuring Shanky’s Whip Whiskey from the track’s Backyard BBQ & Grill, along with homemade ice cream from Clyde’s Ice Cream and Italian Ice truck, and grab some dog treats from Groomington Eats – the best dog treat food truck around.

Backyard doors open at 5 pm, first dog race at 6 pm, and first horse race at 6:20 pm.
