PICK-6 CARRYOVER AWAITS ON A FABULOUS BIG M FRIDAY

Thursday, June 12, 2025

With many of the track’s A-list drivers out of town Saturday (June 14) racing at Woodbine Mohawk Park on their biggest night of the year, The Meadowlands will shift the stronger of its two weekend programs to Friday (June 13) night this week.

A happy coincidence will add some more juice to the squeeze, as the already big card – which features a pair of $225,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes finals for 3-year-old trotters – will also offer a 20-cent Pick-6 carryover to the multitude of Meadowlands multi-leg players.

Last Saturday (June 7), after Blue Collar Man lit up the board at odds of 53-1 in the 13th race, a 20-cent Pick-6 carryover was the result. A total of $6,630 will be sitting in the pool when the Pick-6 gets underway in race eight Friday night.

Recent history tells us that the action figures to be hot and heavy.

On May 31, a carryover of just over $5,000 led to players pouring almost $35,000 into the pool for a grand total of just under $40,000.

Were $34,000 in new action put in play Friday, that would create a total pool of $40,630, but because the carryover is not subject to the low 15 per cent takeout, there would be $35,530 up for grabs, creating a surplus of $1,530, or a return of 105 per cent, instead of the usual 85.

That’s the kind of opportunity that bettors crave.

CIRCLE THE DATES: The two biggest dates on the calendar at The Meadowlands feature two of the biggest stakes events the game offers.

In just four weeks, on Saturday, July 12, the $700,000 (est.) Meadowlands Pace will take center stage on a power-packed card that gets underway at 6:20 p.m.

Three weeks after that, “America’s Trotting Classic” will be in the spotlight celebrating an historic anniversary.

WHAT’S GOING ON? Check out the live “Racing from The Meadowlands” pregame show every Friday and Saturday when track announcer Ken Warkentin opens up the mic with a scene set and program changes at 5:45 p.m.

At that point, Warkentin will then throw to the Sam McKee Memorial Broadcast Set, from where The Big M’s Dave Little and Jessica Otten will provide news, notes, selections and a look at the night’s featured races.

PICK ME A WIENER: The seventh edition of The Big M’s popular Wiener Dog Derby takes place on Saturday (June 14) and promises a night of family fun.

The event, sponsored by Home Floor & Decor! features dachshunds racing at the track between the live races. Admission and parking are free, and this event takes place rain or shine in The Backyard, where doors will open at 5 p.m.

A total of eighty contestants will compete in eight heats that begin at 6 p.m. with the Wiener Dog final at 9:25 p.m. Each heat features 10 dogs racing – or frolicking, if you prefer – to the finish line. The eight heat winners move on to the final, which takes place on the actual racetrack.

There will also be other activities during the night. Fans can party with DJ Alx, indulge in great food and cocktails – featuring Shanky’s Whip Whiskey from the track’s Backyard BBQ & Grill – along with homemade ice cream from Clyde’s Ice Cream and Italian Ice truck. Also, grab some dog treats for your best friend from Groomington Eats – the best dog-treat food truck around.
