May Events at the Meadowlands Racetrack

The Meadowlands Racetrack kicks off the Championship Meet on Friday, May 2^nd, with live racing every Friday and Saturday night with a 6:20 pm post time. The Championship Meet features over $8 million in stakes races and event-filled weekends.

Each live race night, fans can enter horseplay. Pick up a free horse at the promotions table and throw the horse into the car for a chance to win $100 and an entry into the Friday, August 1^st drawing for a brand new 2025 Toyota GR86.

Come to the track on Saturday, May 3rd for an exciting day and night of simulcast & live racing action, including the 151^st running of the Kentucky Derby from Churchill Downs. Fans are encouraged to wear their best fascinator or hat to win cash in the $1,000 Derby Hat. On Saturday, May 10, dive into the excitement of the Meadowlands Racetrack’s Chicken Runs. Whether you’re there to cheer on your favorite fowl or soak in the electrifying vibes, this will surely be a fan-favorite family outing! Participants will don inflatable chicken and rooster costumes and race to the finish line for a chance to win $250! Adults and kids are both welcome to compete. The track’s monthly handicapping contest schedule continues on Friday, May 16. There is no entry fee (a $100 live money bankroll is required) for players, and the prize pool, guaranteed at $1,000 and funded by the track, will be paid out to the top four finishers. Full details are available here

On Saturday, May 17, the track has combined two fan-favorite food truck events—the BBQ Extravaganza and the Best Burger Battle—into one outrageous event—the Battle of the Meats! Chow down on some delicious BBQ and burgers from the best food trucks and restaurants in the area. This pay-as-you-go event is from 5 to 11 p.m., with live racing beginning at 6:20 p.m. Fans can also vote for their favorite food truck and enter to win a space at the judge’s table.

Participating vendors include: Magic Mikes Smoked Meat, Eat My Balls, Kimchi Smoke BBQ, Clydes Italian Ice, Latin Bites, Wild Bills Soda, Btch’N Bacon, Angry Archies, Carnival Concessions, Why Not Burgerz, Gimmie Hibachi, Cat Like Reflexes, The Quarry Food Truck, Uncle Bob’s Kettle Corn, The Original Delicious Lola Josefa’s, Shugar Shack Soulfood, The Hen & The Hog, Antojitos de mi Tierra, DAW Concessions, Fire and Coal BBQ, Lots of Meat BBQ, The Empanada Truck, Michael’s Backyard BBQ, Chef J’s Latin Dragon, Jersey Johnny’s House of Dogs and Bennetts BBQ. Highlighting Saturday, May 31, are the Dwarfanators! See LOS MINI ENMASCARADOS (Mini Masked Wrestlers) perform the unique Mexican Cultural Art of Lucha Libre in the Backyard ring. The performers will show off their flying aerials, scissor kicks, and wheelbarrow holds and fight to become champions. Don’t miss this dynamic cultural spectacle performance by certified Lucha Libre wrestlers. This family-friendly event starts at 7 pm, and doors open at 5 pm. Tickets are just $20 in advance or $25 at the door and can be purchased here.
