Breakast With The Babies Part Deux – Saturday, June 14, 2025
Saturday, June 14, 2025
Breakfast With The Babies, sponsored by Fashion Farms, got underway at The Meadowlands at 9:00 this morning on a wet fast track that turned sloppy with intermittent rain, temps in the mid 60’s and no wind of consequence. Joe Romanelli called the action.
Trotting fillies opened the card and Days Away (Dexter Dunn) left to the front, led at every pole facing no pressure and won under her own power, ending the 1:59.3 mile with a :27.4 quarter. Spring Kiss (Scott Zeron/Marcus Melander) rode along behind the winner and held second easily.
This Muscle Hill filly from 2007 Hambletonian Oaks winner Danae, thus a full sibling to the great European star Propulsion and multiple stakes winner Dream Together, is a homebred owned by Fredericka Caldwell and Bluestone Farm, Per Engblom trains.
Race 2 saw Spycatcher (Todd McCarthy) take over as the field passed the 1:02 half and hold sway over a closing Broadway Star (Ake Svanstedt) with an impressive :28.2 final quarter for the 2:00.1 win. Nancy Takter trains the homebred Father Patrick colt for Brittany Farms.
Ardonne and Scott Zeron split rivals with an impressive late burst through the :27.2 end to a 1:57.4 mile over Zephyr Kemp (Melander/Melander) for trainer Megan Scran and owner Philip Steinberg in the third. The Tactical Landing colt, a $57,000 (LEX) yearling, sat comfortably in third through the early stages then kicked hard when a seam developed in the final sixteenth. Kevin Greenfield is the breeder.
Impeccable Hanover (Yannick Gingras) inherited the lead in early stretch when the leader broke and marched on to a 2:00.4 win in race 4. Glam (Ake Svanstedt) made a mild gain very late and was second. The winner, a Greenshoe filly bred by Hanover, was a $40,000 Harrisburg buy for trainer Per Engblom and the Racing Team of America.
Race 5 matched a pair of big-ticket NJ sired colts with the $385,000 (LEX) Muscle Hill colt Rambo Hanover (Svanstedt) prevailing with something left today over the $300,000 (LEX) Walner colt American Power (Dunn/Melander) who came uncovered and finished going forward in 2:01 ending with a :27.4 stretch scrum. Both colts looked the part and will likely meet up in the NJSS program next month. Svanstedt shares ownership of the Hanover bred with Brochart Stable, Inc. and Al Libfeld.
Another big money battle, this time Walner vs Walner, came in the sixth as Ake Svanstedt took his time grinding to the front with I’m Kronos S ($310,000 LEX) then clipped along at a 30 beat until engaged by the $525,000 (LEX) purchase Apex (Dunn/Melander). They traded blows right to the wire with I’m Kronos prevailing as Apex was digging in 1:59.3 / :27.4. The winner was bred in Sweden by Winger Lion Breeding and now races for Part Of Dream, Inc and Bruni Racing Team, Inc.
Ake Svanstedt drove Pub Party, a homebred Walner filly for Marvin & Lynn Katz and Sam Goldband, to a handy 1:58.3 win in the seventh. Svanstedt was content to ride the rail as Jula Princess (Dunn/Melander) cut the fractions then fanned his filly wide for the drive and she went by with authority through the :28.4 final quarter.
With the track now having deteriorated to sloppy, Sheza Single Lady (Gingras/Takter) was a very game winner in race 8, The Walner filly led throughout then had to dig deep to hold off a pair of closing Captain Corey fillies, stablemate Caviart Gemma (T. McCarthy) and Ellie Hanover (Svanstedt), ending the 1:59.4 mile with a :29 final panel. Caviart Farms, Patrick Hoopes and Herb Liverman gave $95,000 (LEX) for Sheza Single Lady to breeders Jay and Jacob Mossbarger.
The Stratton brothers, trainer Cory and driver Jordan, combined with the Devious Man filly Overalls to win the ninth race in 2:01.1. Jordan left to the lead with Overalls, she rolled along comfortably and when he asked, she responded with a :29 end to hold off the close of Shoppin For Gucci (T. McCarthy/Annie Stoebe) with something left. A $25,000 (GOSHEN) yearling buy from breeder Mark Wamp, Our Three Sons Stable and VIP Internet Stable share ownership with the trainer as Stratton Stable.
A single pacing race was won by the colt Hurrikanelouiexlll (Gingras/John McDermott) a Sweet Lou homebred owned by Jonathan Klee Racing, Justin Bolasci and Hurrikane Racing, LLC. Gingras moved the colt to the lead by the 1:02.3 half then took off with a :56.1 end to the 1:58.4 mile. Carolina (T. McCarthy/Engblom) a filly came along nicely for second.
Live racing tonight at The Meadowlands at 6:20.
