Fall Chili Cook-Off at the Meadowlands Racetrack

The Meadowlands Racetrack is keeping things spicy this fall with the Fall Chili Cook-Off scheduled for Saturday, November 5^th.  The competition features homestyle, chili verde and salsa categories.

As of October 13^th, 16 contestants are registered to compete for the $1,000 Homestyle grand prize, 11 are registered in the Chili Verde category cooking for the $1,000 grand prize, while 11 contestants are entered in the Salsa category, with a $500 grand prize.  All three grand prize winners will earn a spot in the 2023 International Chili Society’s Annual World Championship Chili Cook-off in their categories.

There are also cash prizes for the runners up in each category:
Homestyle:

* $1,000 Grand Prize plus a spot in the 2023 ICS’s World Championship Traditional Red Chili Cook-off
* $500 – 2nd
* $250 – 3rd

Chili Verde:

* $1,000 Grand Prize plus a spot in the 2023 ICS’s World Championship Traditional Red Chili Cook-off
* $500 – 2nd
* $250 – 3rd

Salsa:

* $500 Grand Prize plus a spot in the 2023 ICS’s World Championship Salsa Category
* $250 – 2nd
* $100 – 3rd

People’s Choice:

* $250

Racetrack guests are also welcome to be part of the fun.  They are encouraged to sample the chili and vote for their favorite.  The fan favorite cook will walk away with the $250 prize.  Fan favorite voting begins 8 pm; voting tickets will be available in the chili cook off area.

As an added bonus, fans can enjoy live harness racing with first race post time at 6:20 pm.
