Final Road to the Pace has Beach Glass in Top Spot

Beach Glass takes over the top spot in the 10th and final 2022 edition of Dave Little’s weekly “Road to The Meadowlands Pace” with Hammering Hank out of the race after sustaining an injury. Trainer Tony Alagna will have four horses (out of 15) in the two Pace elims Saturday night. Three of those made the Top 10.

Gets the top spot with Hammering Hank now out. MacGrath: “You never wish bad luck on anyone. So, it’s too bad that horse is out.” How does it feel now being the horse with the target on his back? “We’ve been in that position before and it didn’t work out, but I would certainly rather be the horse to beat than a longshot. Right now, my horse couldn’t be better. We are in the tougher of the two divisions, but at the end of the day, you have to beat them all anyway. We trained him in [1:]53 the other day. He was very strong.” He’ll go in the first elim (Race 6) from Post 5.

I Did It Myway will leave from post 1 in elim 1 off a superb 1:48.1 score in which he paced his back half in :53.3 after reaching the top down the backside. Alagna: “After a couple of weeks off, I was happy with that start. he’s got a lot of upside.”

So, is this the horse That gives Doc Moore a second straight Meadowlands Pace trophy? He leaves from Post 8 in Elim 1. Moore: “He’s ready to roll. In fact, he’s on his way down to The Meadowlands right now [Wednesday early afternoon]. I wanted to train him in about two minutes on a half-mile track on the farm the other day, and when I turned him, he really didn’t want any part of a 30-second quarter. He ended up going [1:]55 three-wide the whole way, and I had to pull him up. Then, he jogged well Monday and Tuesday.”
