H Horse Comment
1 SAM'S HONEYBEE A regular performer on the amateur circuit this season, but without a win yet! Draws best post in a while to sit, stalk and save ground. A smooth trip gives her shot for a minor share.
2 KERFUFFLE COOKIE Woke up with an improved effort in most recent over at Yonkers, but must go lot faster here.
3 WINDSONG ILLUSION Clearly lacked mile track stamina when last seen here at Club Med. Broke on the half at Freehold and then had post eight at Tioga. Simply not a lot of luck in this corner yet. Must consider a longshot.
4 KEYSTONE THOMAS Can't fault this one's early speed, but he sometimes comes up short in the staying department. Won here last year, but doesn't seem as sharp. Hoping to find a nice early seat and then try to keep up. A maybe!
5 WINDSUN FIREBALL Joe Lee got to know him three weeks ago here. That Yonkers try from a tough post actually wasn't bad. Had a few really good starts here early and does pack speed. I can take a positive view if the price was right.
6 PINE TAB Definitely a big player in here with Hannah now aboard. That's a great try in most recent at Pocono, BUT before you take a short price, consider that 1-44 record over past two seasons. That sticks out like sore thumb. Needs very best to win.
7 HERE COMES NUMBERS Off a long time, and exiting one slow qualifier. That's not enough to get ready for this.
8 LANDONFITZ Pretty sharp right now, considering he handles both size tracks and usually finishes strong. This race appears to have a lot of speed in it, so if things set up for a closer, this is the one to watch for late. I would use in the gimmicks.
9 WINWOOD SCOUT Clearly went a lot faster than these in first start off the claim. Driver won a few of these last season and he packs just enough versatile speed to get the morning line edge over #6. At least this gelding shows winning efforts.
10 TOSS CARTWRIGHT Only one in field to have won last start, but that came from the rail at Yonkers, and now this is post 10 in a field filled with speedsters. Trainer: Has been racing, training well, the post is main obstacle. It would take a miracle trip from Peter.

1 ANNAPOLIS HALL That was a very encouraging effort last week with Tetrick aboard. Gelding is clearly headed in the right direction now for Ray and draws the all important pole position. Will do same here, sit, save ground, try to rally late.
2 BEACH CREDIT Lot of talent here too! Nice education last year at two to lay the foundation. Came back sharp with a strong seasonal debut at Pocono and now ships back to the big track where he won impressively last year. Big challenge to #4.
3 CRESURREY Rolled along at a nice, rated clip in that qualifier, but did get a touch outkicked late by two stakes-quality trotting fillies. That should still build some stamina, but Dave Miller was listed by Trond, and opted to #7. Not sure about that.
4 MYAMMIE DRAMA Vicious set of qualifiers and then equally impressive first race, charging right by a colt that came back to win! Can't do much more than that, so sky is the limit for this well-bred filly. The tests will get tougher, however!
5 COOGAN Like #1, another colt that is certainly on the improve. I don't like his slowish kind of start, but he's learning how to finish stronger. Showed the kick to pass a few in a race that sprinted home. Let's look for a bit more tonight for Ake.
6 SHEER ASSAULT Started a little late last year at two, but definitely flashed impressive speed. That season ender in Lexington was good, even if he got caught. Towed along behind winner in qualifier, hopples off. Trainer: Hoping for good start to soph campaign.
7 THISGUYISONFIRE It's taken a while to get this guy going, but that happens a lot. Qualified successfully at Philly in slow time, and then look how strong he was in first real race this year. Tonight's the test! Must stay trotting and try to finish strong again.
8 DREAM BABY DREAM Did win here last year, and then apparently tailed off for Rod. Her return qualifier here showed promise, but I suspect she'll be coming from way back tonight. Let's watch for any further improvement and tab for later on.
9 DEW IN THE DESERT Didn't show me much in that Big M debut and now slammed with worst post. I will pass tonight.

1 TOO MUCH HANOVER Doesn't appear very sharp right now and burned a LOT of cash last pair at Freehold. Meets a few of his buddies shipping up the Turnpike to take a shot here. Not sure I can endorse in current form. Maybe a minor share.
2 HYWAY MARCUS Working his way down the class ladder and Team Harmon has sure found the right spot here! His racetimes here in April put him squarely in contention, gets a key inside post. Trainer: Such a questionable horse. It all depends on what horse shows up on Friday.
3 BIGSKY SANDY Freehold form at the bottom level does not inspire. I simply don't think she can go fast enough.
4 CAPTAIN PRIMEAU An amazing horse! Was racing well when I was here six years ago! Still going strong and still has that desire to compete and win at age 13! Nice confidence builder at in the Freehold. Trainer: Was pretty good last week. Been a while since he raced at M1, but think he will be ok at this level.
5 MR PROTAB Up and down the class ladder down at Freehold and like #1, he looks like a big time money burner! Off the board recent losses at 3-2 and 3-5 do not inspire much confidence. Can Super Brett wake him up, make some speed? Don't know.
6 REAL DJ HANOVER Takes fourth straight class drop going back to last year. Showed just enough speed last week to warrant the extra look against a field like this. Can go fast enough, so he is clearly the one to beat with no mistakes.
7 WHATNBLAZES It's been a long time since he won a race and if he wasn't able to trot fast enough at Freehold, I can't say he'll be fast enough here. The outside post doesn't exactly aid the cause.
8 SURFACE TENSION Showed up in NJ in a much tougher spot last week and didn't make a move or show any serious trot. Gets stuffed with another bad post and would need a complete turnaround just to threaten. I don't envision it.

1 MUSCLE HIGH Looks like a "project" horse for Team Toscano, but made up decent ground in a paceless race last week. That showed me something. Note the hopples are now off. Gets a much better post here and Tim sticks around. Look for more.
1A EASTERN PROMISE Made a lot of starts last year at two, but did not win. Had a sneaky-good qualifier last week, which was a much improved effort. I like the midpack post, but job #1 is to get around with no mistakes. Let's watch for a flat mile.
2 EL SENOR DEO The hopples have gone on for this season, but I haven't seen enough yet. A pass for me tonight.
2A SOUTHWIND HYDRO Came off Lasix last month over in New York. Was good enough to make the Sagamore final, then drew post seven. His last was definitely a decent effort, surging too late. What will we get on the big track? That's the question.
3 JARMING LADY Made the trip to Ohio and Miami Valley for the sires stakes and it did not work out. In tough again.
4 JACKSON'S GOLD On the slow and steady comeback trail. Qualifier wasn't great. Must find more speed tonight.
5 SPEEDY PRAYER Yes, she does pack a fine turn of speed when trotting, but she's too much of a handful right now. A lot to work on here before we see her best. They have to find a way to get her under control.
6 SHAQ TO THE RACK Was lagging a little early last week and then when finally in gear at the end, he broke. Can't really consider that a positive, so Ray takes the lines again. Will be coming from the back and will have a lot of ground to make up.
7 MADISON MUSCLE Homebred gelded son of Muscle Hill had a fairly decent first try here this year and then couldn't handle the half at Freehold. Back to the big track and a tough post, but I expect to see speed. Must prove that he can carry it further.
8 SWEETCHAP Only faced a few in most recent qualifier, but it was a much stronger effort. Rated nicely and then springed home smartly. That's exactly what you want to see, but this is no easy task. Worst post in field loaded with speedsters. Your call?

1 MAJOR SYN Ran into a tougher bunch upon return to East Rutherford and lagged a little early. There's plenty of outside talent in this bunch, so she's simply going to need more. Has to keep up better early, and kick in stronger late. A maybe.
2 CARLY GIRL Nice effort last week, towing along behind #8. Clearly appears to be a much better 3YO, and from same post she steps right around #1 to get a similar trip. Trainer: She put in good effort last, probably needed the start. Had a good week.
3 SKY FULLA STAR Had a tough go of it in the Weiss series at Pocono, but those races were packed with talent. Made over $40K last year with only one win, so there is talent here too! Trainer: Had a good week and has been effective here before. Needs trip.
4 OSPREY BLUE CHIP Never like to see a break in the seasonal comebacker, but I will give a pass due to sloppy surface at Philly. Not every horse handles that surface. Her qualifier here on 4/22 was much better than that. Dangerous at a price!
5 QUEEN ELSA Added Lasix in most recent qualifier, but still didn't look ready. I think she's in too tough with these.
6 JAYE'S A LADY Super effort here two back against a very impressive foe. Flashed that same excellent speed out in Ohio at Miami Valley. This is the spot where she belongs and we'll look for Yannick to take control early. Let's see if she lasts late.
7 ROCKINSANGRIA Exits the same tough series as #3 where she just towed along. Those were really quick races and it's not like she backed up. Nice foundation down at Dover. I expect her to step up here. Trainer: Raced average at Pcd, hoping to step up.
8 WINDSUN BROOKLYN Took advantage of that softer spot last week and brushed and crushed. I don't envision her leaving the gate tonight, so this is much tougher situation. Owns a serious late kick, so watch for her late, if the pace falters up front.
9 TRAFFIC JAM Serious wakeup call this season at three for Mark Gray, but she's facing the acid test for class and must do it from a brutal post as a slow starter. I'll be watching her at the back to see if she belongs.
10 THAT'S HOW WE ROLL Did she improve a lot in that second start here? Yes! Scotty Z got along with her nicely and coaxed some early speed. Same recipe needed tonight from the dreaded post 10. Will need a similar smooth trip.

1 MARKET SHARE A decent effort last week over the "good" track, but nobody was catching Yoyo! Draws the pole tonight, but against an even tougher group. Can he still trot in 52 or 51 and a piece? I guess we're going to find out. Will stalk early.
2 CRESCENT FASHION Couldn't handle the half at Yonkers and broke in first start after shipping north. Ends up in a very difficult spot here and I think he's a bit overmatched right now. Let's see a flat mile first, and then maybe a class drop?
3 FAD FINANCE Mare is in the same boat as #2. Debuted this season at Yonkers and promptly broke. That's never a good thing. Arrives over here and into a super tough spot. At least her qualifier here was good. Also likely to sit, stalk, try to rally..
4 BROADWAY DONNA Millionheiress is back and trying to tackle the toughest trotters right off the bat. Her qualifiers against new arch rival Hannelore were both okay, but Dave Miller will be cautious with her in spot like this. Gets better later on.
5 B YOYO I guess I didn't get the memo last week. Was bet off the board and went right down the road confidently. Several equipment changes did help, but now he gets the ultimate test for class. Trainer: Back in same class off solid win. Consistent M1.
6 DAYSON Enjoyed a sparkling 12-win season last year at three. Raced with the very best and was right there almost every time. Qualified well, and had the obligatory tour of the track two weeks ago. Trust me....he's ready now! Hop on board.
7 OPULENT YANKEE Can't say enough about the improvement of this gelding. Has blossomed into an Open trotter for Team Orange Crush. Zipped around Yonkers in easy fashion. Tests #6 tonight. Trainer: Good effort at YR, hoping for similar outcome.

1 SOUTHWIND WOODY Lone 3YO in field took a shot in the Dexter and it didn't work out. Prior effort here in that series was very professional. The inside post keeps him in position. Might only need a touch bigger kick to threaten these late for Yannick.
1A ITS PAYDAY FRIDAY Tough to get a gauge on this guy with those breaks, plus post 10. Might just try to stay flat.
2 BJANTHONY Scooted upstate to the Spa for a softer spot score despite a tough trip. I guess they didn't want to go back to Yonkers and opt here instead. Note he took his mark here last year. Drew well, but wasn't Brett's choice. At big price only.
3 STARSABOVEALLERAGE Note he squeezes in for the condition here and that's usually a good angle. Those two wins here a while back were solid, but against slightly lesser. Still has a little something to prove at this level. Need to see it first.
4 MANHATTAN MISS Miss owned by Wendy Ross was a sharp Philly winner two back with an impressive grind. Hiked up in class and broke after that, but we can forgive that. This is right spot. Trainer: Solid win 2 back. Trying big track, expecting good effort.
5 KEENAN Did a fairly good job chasing an uncatchable foe last week. Trainer: Racing much better after fighting sickness earlier this year. Stepping up, but looking forward to it.
6 SWEET JUSTICE Returns to the mile track in search of class relief and may have found it! Gelding owns plenty of good efforts here and usually packs one solid burst in a mile. Dave Miller's job is to time it right. Very eligible to beat these.
7 SHEER FLEX Well traveled of late, but undoubtedly his best efforts have come here. Brett won with him vs. lesser two back, but tonight's problem might be the post. Not the quickest of starters, so at mercy of pace and trip from the back. Maybe.
8 STONEBRIDGE COMBAT Third straight brutal post, plus coming off a break. That's not a recipe for success.
9 SIDE BET HANOVER Stakes quality mare begins her 4YO season off two decent qualifiers. She's probably the key to this race, because Corey will have to send her, if cranked up and ready? It's a BIG IF out of this slot. She's good enough if ready!

1 SOFT IDEA Took a couple of months off and requalified at Philly. Not really sure what to make of that effort, since I didn't see it, but Tetrick did opt here over #4,10. I thought that significant. If she's ready for a good one, obviously can win this.
2 DAUT FULL Got jammed up in stretch traffic last week and made a break. Forced up in class here, which doesn't help, but Brett chose this mare over #9. Also significant, considering the break. Watch for an improved effort. Trainer: Trained well this week.
3 TWICE AN ANGEL Another forced up the class ladder here and I think these are a little too tough for her right now.
4 BLUSH HANOVER Barn's other entrant here hasn't won recently and wasn't Tim's choice. That's very telling. Up in class.
5 HEAVENLY BRIDE Finds her way back to the big track in second start for new barn. Actually fits a level lower than this, so that worries me. Just one win so far, each of last two seasons. Demand fair value if you fancy from the midpack post.
6 LET HER ROCK Worked her way right up the ladder over at Yonkers and it's finally time for a softer spot here. Barn has a couple tonight fitting that pattern and this mare will be well meant if primed for return to form. I would expect it. Very eligible here.
7 KEYSTONE I WISH Boy, is this mare tough! She likes to dig in and fight. Just did last in blanket finish last week, but she earned it the hard way. Don't even think of leaving her off your tickets. Just too sharp right now and Corey gets her into the game.
8 SIMPLE SAVER N Well traveled of late all over the northeast. But, nothing but quality efforts, which catches my eye. If you're searching for a live longshot to include in your gimmicks, this mare might be it! The big knock is the post, with slowish starts.
9 GLENFERRIE BRONTE N A Nap gets the call tonight, with Brett opting for #2. Was within range last week, trying to track down #7 and it was definitely an improved effort. Pilot has been great lately with the longshots. Usable underneath from the back.
10 NOT BEFORE EIGHT Very tough call here, especially from post 10. Seemed well-meant and took money last week, but she did gap a bit on the turn before re-rallying. Not sure what to think of that, plus Tim opted to #1. Is that telling? Yes.

1 DEACON TONY Went from an 0-9 trotter as a 2YO, to now two-for-two as a sophomore. Very professional workmanlike efforts too! Remember that runner-up of last, Glitzey Gal came back to romp last week. Meeting a few good ones tonight.
1A WHAT THE HILL Unlike his partner, this guy enjoyed a solid freshman season against the very best. Absolutely charged home in a good-looking qualifier and he looks ready to roll! The post is ideal to sit and stalk. Might have to catch his entrymate.
2 BILL'S MAN High Hambo hopes for John B. and connections. A royal pedigree and two perfect preps in the morning. He also prefers to stalk and pounce, like #1A, and there are bigger objectives down the road. He'll pick off a few late in rally mode.
3 EXPLOSIVE RIDGE Has the benefit of a real start, unlike #1A, #2. That always helps, but I still remember that qualifier where he crawled along and still got nailed by #1A. Was asked that morning too! Won't be able to steal this one, with #1 in there.
4 BUFF Down from the Spa for connections that have won here before, but this gelding appears way overmatched against the likes of the stakes horses in here. Would have to go a lot faster.
5 TRUEMASS VOLO On the slow and steady comeback path for Jeff. Gelding does have talent when he wants to mind his manners. Expect that progression to continue, but I don't think he can beat these just yet. Will follow the faves and rally.
6 MIGHTY SURF Was good enough to make the NYSS final at Yonkers last fall, but squandered the rail for no check. His comeback qualifier was okay and that looked like a tough spot in seasonal debut. Trainer: Filly is sharp and ready for good mile.
7 JUST FOR TODAY Wintered in Florida for Paul Kelley, who has a few other good trotters (Obrigado, Such An Angel.) Can't say I'm happy with the break up at Saratoga. Sure liked the big oval at Vernon last year where he took mark. Might need this.
10 Tenth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 BETTOR CHILL OUT Liked her as my "value play" last week and she had NO excuse, given a perfect trip and drive by Campbell. But, with that said, this is a plummet in class and she almost seems to stand out. Trainer: Mare seems fine this week. Drop will help
2 GIVETHELADYABEER Love the name, but not the current Freehold form. Best asset tonight is the inside post, where she can try to sit in and keep up. Maybe a minor share if she negotiates the longer stretch here. That's a big maybe!
3 BEAVERCREEK ANNIE Was in a little higher class than #2 down at Freehold, but she hasn't won a race in long time. Must prove.
4 FAITHFUL FRIEND Backed through the field from the rail last time seen here, so that's not exactly inspiring. Most recent Pocono tries were a bit better, so any effort like that gives her a chance to get a check tonight. Probably needs smooth trip too!
5 LITTLE MISS MARIE Hard to gauge this mare racing on a mile track, but she does seem consistent and she picks up Andy. He's a great "wakeup" kind of driver, so expect her to show a little more. The post is good. Again, maybe for a slice?
6 THAT GIRL OF MINE Brett chose this mare over #10, so let's take an extra look. Exits a huge wakeup call effort showing unknown speed and going right down the road. Are we going to see that speed again? I'd have to think so. Tests #1?
7 BACKWOODS BARBIE At least this mare has benefit of races over the track. While no threat, her racetimes were comparable to what we'll see here. A Nap knows her, but I wish she'd drawn a better post. The bad post blues really hurt.
8 ALGEBRA Joe owns this one himself, so he can do whatever he wants. Not sure early speed is her game, so that's a problem when you move to an outside post. Still usable in gimmicks because she's honest. Trainer: Old timer. Consistent. Handles big track.
9 FULL EXPLOSION Tough trip in the Freehold finale. I do note she has blast out speed if Steve wants to take a shot. I don't see her passing too many of the other closers from the back, so what to do?
10 THEWAYULOOKTONIGHT Overmatched last at Pocono. Trainer: Draws bad again, but we're going to try and leave w/her.
