1 WINGS OF SPEED It’s hard to argue with that good-looking qualifier. A Winbak Farm homebred for Team Orange Crush. Sometimes the rail can be a little tricky, but he handled it well in the a.m. Clearly the one to beat tonight.
2 AB’S ROYAL PUNKIN Starting to give hints that she’s ready to return to some better form. Took a little shuffle last time, but was finishing up better. That’s what we’re looking for. Ready to toss her onto the ticket now, underneath.
3 GRAPPLE HANOVER Off since November. Shows the one slow qualifier. I doubt he’s fully ready just yet.
4 CASH DELIVERY Last qualified a month ago. Why so long? It was a key qualifier and this guy wasn’t bad. Just a little tired at the end. But, that gap since has me very worried. I’m going to take the wait-and-see approach.
5 MY LINDY WINNER If you like the age angle, why not try this guy against #1? This is a 4YO. Has the benefit of much more experience. Has gone faster and hails from very good barn at getting them ready. Just wish he’d qualified here. Trainer: Qualified okay. Had to be a little careful in the turns, but did finish up good. He was a good 2YO couple yrs ago.
6 PUMPING IRONY I don’t usually get too excited when I see a 1-37 performer show up here. Maybe this could be different? The hopples went on for new connections, and so far, it’s worked! Yannick takes over. Interesting.
7 P L LOUIGI Was certainly put in play in those races up at the Spa, but couldn’t trot all the way home. Did not make much of an impact here. Drew outside the main foes, so I’ll probably take a pass and watch. To see if he trots.
8 KLYDE DA GLIDE Clearly needed the first start over the track. And, it wasn’t bad. I do wish he’d drawn a better spot, because I don’t see him leaving all that much. Maybe he’ll need another one anyway.
9 B MEDISTRIKE LOT of people were on board this guy last week when he went to running leaving the gate. Of course, that’s not good. Even worse, he gets stuck with tougher post. I’d be very careful accepting any short price here.
10 GD LONE SURVIVOR Suffering a good case of the bad post blues right now! And early speed does not seem to be a weapon. Swept the field up north, and I like to see that. She just might be a big track horse, but I have to see it first.

1 CLEAR IDEA Zipped right around the track to a well-meant win last week. Guess I missed the boat on that one. So, with that confidence builder under her belt, she starts stepping back up the ladder. She can probably handle it.
1A BELIEVE IN ME Nice partner to have to go along with #1, but there are some questions here. The sick scratch. The missed time. The run of tough posts. It’s a good thing you get them both!
2 BLUSH HANOVER The Blush raced 40 times last year! That’s a lot, so full credit for that. She paid her way too, winning four times, $58K banked. Got some time off and returns. She will need this. A pass for now.
3 FAMILY ROLL CALL Up and down the class ladder, with some okay efforts. She hasn’t found a way to win yet, but she’s always right there. With that said, she’s taking a big hike up too. Yannick will send, but then follow again.
4 D GS ELSA Over from Yonkers with some real mixed form on view. She did win here last year, so maybe that’s a plus. Was not the Captain’s choice in here, but I understand that. Demand a fair price if you think she’ll wake up.
5 YOU SHOULD BE HERE I was a little disappointed by her unaggressive try last week. Gets a better post here, but is also facing the bump up in class with a few others. Considering the closers in here, her weapon is speed. Must use it.
6 PENPAL Had her usual very good sprint in the qualifier. That’s normal for her. Plus, it’s now been a long time since Pat drove her, so I’m sure he’ll feel good to sit behind her once again. We all know her game. Will be coming from behind.
7 BELIEVE IN WACO Could easily be the key to this race, folks. She’s got solid speed. Yannick was listed, so that’s a sign of positive intent. Barn’s already surprised us with a few. Likes to win, but this is NO easy spot. Must be very ready.

H Horse Comment
1 MONTEPULCIANO Should benefit from that first trip over the track. It wasn’t great, but I didn’t think he’d be ready for that. This spot looks a lot different and he becomes a major player here with Dunn back aboard. Take a long look.
2 CAN’TCUTTHATCHIP Yes, I know the Chip hasn’t had any luck here yet, but it could change in a heartbeat tonight. This field is full of question marks. Homebred gets a better post on the class drop. It’s time to step up and deliver!
3 FROST FREE HANOVER New barn here. Also making a second start back off a layoff. There’s a small touch of back class involved, so I would be willing to take an extra look. I see who gets the drive. Some definite positives here.
4 LINDY’S BEST YET Can’t say I’m in love with his recent form up at home base, but I will remind everybody that 10YO has won here before. For that alone, he deserves a little respect with that speed. May be a usable longshot.
5 IRON DOME Picked up a check last time and stayed trotting at almost 40-1. Not bad. A small step in the right direction. In a wide open field like this, from ideal midpack post, why can’t he close again and pick up a piece?
6 BELL A CHICK After slow starts from two straight rail starts, I’m probably not ready to try the Chick again. Pass for me.
7 RUFAS DE VIE Doesn’t have any good form on view. Drew an outer post and I can’t be too positive just yet.
8 ROUNDTOWN ROCKER Hard-knocking veteran here. Working his way back into shape and if not tonight, he will be ready soon. I will be watching for the signs of life in this corner, but I do hate the post tonight.
9 TECH TITAN I can see the class drop, but I can also see the issues they’re having keeping this guy trotting. I am not willing to take a short price, especially from post nine. If he beats me, he beats me. Good luck to Pete K and all.
10 CARTIER ZETTE Another one with too many chicken scratches on the program. Now must deal with post 10 too!

H Horse Comment
1 WHISKERSONKITTENS I know those last two here don’t look all that good on paper, but trust me, this is the spot they’ve been waiting for. Gets the rail. Has plenty of class and experience here. Could easily wake back up tonight.
2 SPILLING THE BEANS First starter this meet for Ms. Beckwith. All things considered, that was a pretty good transitional start up at home base. It’s very hard to acclimate from Fla to NY in the winter. A sneaky price play here.
3 TEARFUL OF HAPPY I really don’t know what to tell you here, folks. I think we can make the case that she’s tailed off. New, but unfamiliar barn here off the claim. Was not Corey’s choice in here, and probably won’t be mine either.
4 THE SECOND STAR Did go a little bit more forward last time, applying pressure to set up the closers. So, that’s a small step in right direction. New barn probably still tinkering with her. Will definitely need a softer trip.
5 FOX VALLEY BAILEY Like #3, you could make the case that Bailey’s tailed off too! Do note she’s off Lasix now, so that’s a small reason. Her Freehold race was a little better. Remember those crushing wins this level last year?
6 TALBOT CHANEL I’m just going to give her a pass for that last start. That was a weird race, won by a closer from way back. This is second try at the bottom level for underachiever out of this barn. The Lasix has to be helping soon.
7 TEMPUS SEELSTER This was Corey’s choice. And she sports two solid qualifiers to get ready. Barn can have one ready off a freshening like this, and I LOVE her overall record. But, I was concerned to see Corey take #10. Gives me pause.
8 DANDY’S BEAUTY Actually raced well here twice, so credit to the new barn off that cheap claim. Tonight’s problem is going to be the post. Will face pressure if she guns, so I’d probably like to see her race from just off the pace.
9 ASHOK ACE Still a pretty big longshot, especially when the post is bad like this one. A pass.
10 DO YOUR JOB Got a little time off, after a 36-start campaign last year. Mare knows her way around this oval and this is definitely the right level to start back, but it’s not the right post. Corey’s choice, but I will wait for a better situation.
5 Fifth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 MAGNUM MIKE Blew right by the field like they were tied to the fence last week! So, Mike stays in for same tag and gets a better post to boot. He likes to grind, so let’s look for some action from the outside to set things up for late.
2 SOUTHWIND INDY MIA for few weeks, after the scratch. That’s not usually a good thing, but oh well! This is veteran’s 125th lifetime start tonight, and only second for the new barn. I guess I’d like to see more before I could endorse.
3 ROCK ON THE HILL 0-2 since the claim, but that last one was a little better. I’d still want a fair price to toss onto the ticket. He will need a few things to go his way to have a chance.
4 I’M SID THE KID Sid’s had a couple of really tough trips lately, so let’s not be too hard on him. Slides in a few slots to begin and he will probably wait for the flow. Also loses Yannick tonight, so it’s a tough call on all fronts.
5 OH MY JOEPA Sent north by John MacDonald to Team Buter. I’m always a no in first start up from Florida in the wintertime, so let’s watch one from the 11YO to see if he can be ready soon.
6 JULERICA After that sparkling wakeup call victory at this level, he’s had two straight difficult trips against better. So, barn drops him back down, as they should. Yannick keeps the call. Will we see that crushing move of Feb. 15?
7 WESTERN REDHOT Starting to give hints that he’s back to better form. Tonight’s problem might be the post. Horse likes it best coming from behind, but in field full of closers, this could be spot to send and take a shot. Maybe?
8 DAVID THE SAINT Just fair in first try back here. Loses that inside post help, so that’s an issue. I’ll pass for now.
9 MASTER OF PUPPETS Corey had this guy revved up last time due to the outside post, but unfortunately, the horse didn’t relax once he got to the top. Same post tonight. Any different strategy? I don’t know. Needs different trip.
10 IDEAL CANDIDATE Fresh claim here on the 13YO veteran. You don’t see that every day! But, when you land post 10 in a field like this, you’ve got problems. It will be up to pilot to somehow get a decent journey. And that’s not easy.
6 Sixth Race Entries

1 MISS RUBY Super drive by Vinny on this mare last week. Did everything right, got lucky to get clearance and scooted right by the big favorite late. So, with that said, we starting hiking back up the ladder here. Pole will keep her close.
2 CELEBRITY PEGASUS Should definitely benefit from the first start back here. Sometimes it takes a race or two to get mile track legs back. Plus, he’s coming out of the tougher division of this class, in my opinion. Chance for more here.
3 MUSCLES ON FIRE Wasn’t much of a factor with the switch over to the mile track. But, gets a touch of additional class relief tonight. That should help. The post should help. I can make a case he gets a LOT closer to these at fair odds. Trainer: Well-deserved drop in class. But, landed in a real tough field.
4 FIJI After the freshening, the Fiji has had a few starts to regain top speed. Eric even left with him last time, to put more stamina into the tank. Here’s another class drop, so we’re getting a lot closer to wakeup call time. Hard to ignore. Trainer: What! I’m on the front last week and stopped. Changed a few on the drop down and should be okay.
5 CRESURREY In a field full of class droppers, it’s very hard to take one on the way up. I’ll rate this guy a longshot.
6 MAYFAIR JOHNNY B He’s also had a few starts to re-acclimate to Club Med. I still remember some of his bursting finishes here last year, and believe me, it’s coming soon! Maybe even tonight. I’d consider, if price is still okay.
7 PAPPY GO GO Gets written into the race by a few bucks, but I’m now advising extreme caution here, folks. In Harris’ program comment last week, he said he wasn’t “happy” with horse recently. I can see why. Marcus held him together.
8 CAN DO 10YO veteran moves back outside and that usually presents problems for him. I’ll take a pass here.
9 EXPLOSIVE RIDGE Decent qualifier, but off a little too long for my taste. And stuck with a bad post. Not yet.
10 KASCARA ROSA Nice steer by Mitch on this surprise from last week. Unfortunately, they’re not exactly “rewarded” with this post on the double jump up in class. That’s not going to work out well tonight.
7 Seventh Race Entries

1 IN SECRET Got a week off after getting run over by Trolley last time. The roll he was on before that was excellent. But, you can make a case that this Preferred level might be a tad too much? I guess we’ll find out tonight. Tough bunch!
1A ELYSIUM LINDY Did great work last year, winning just about everywhere. Came back with a rip-roaring, solid qualifier, and every other Burke returnee has come back ready. This is NO easy spot to debut in. YG chose #1.
2 ROCK OF CASHEL Big test for the Rock tonight. He’s marched his way right up the class ladder all the way to top level again. Is it too much? He did get caught by #3 last week, but had the much tougher trip. Can’t afford that now.
3 TAG UP AND GO Needless to say, as soon as I jumped OFF the bandwagon, he won. Shocker! So, it’s another bump up in class, to the top level and I do wonder if he’s THIS good? I guess we’re going to find out. Inside post helps.
4 RESITA Note the barn change here. Horse regressed into a miscue again once he reached the top level. I am very anxious to see what we get from this guy tonight. And be sure to look for any equipment changes.
5 THE LAST CHAPTER Chased #1A in the qualifier and did it willingly. There’s plenty of back class in this corner, but I also wonder if he’s ready to deliver a top effort against a field like this? I’m leaning towards no, for now.
6 TWO AM Trotted home strongly last pair, after being fenced in most of the way. That’s a good thing for this gelding, but tonight’s problem could be the post. He moves back outside. Capable of leaving, but will he? Good question.
7 SUTTON Had to “need” his first start back, and I think we all remember how loaded with trot he was! Very good return and tonight we get another big test. Both he, and Trolley can leave, but something has to give. Your call?
8 TROLLEY It’s hard not to love this horse! The whole story. Plus, he looks like the perfect horse to drive. Because this is a handicap, he again gets assigned the outside. One night soon, that will catch up to him. Very hard to go against.

1 SHADY MCCOY Shady gets a little post relief in here, but not the class relief to go along with it. That will take one more week, so let’s leave him out, and wait for the potential softer spot next week.
2 ATABOY HANOVER Ataboy had a few good tune-ups to get ready for this, and barn has been known to have one ready off a layoff like this. IF you think the outside faves might be a little vulnerable, then go ahead and use this one.
3 ARRAKIS Gelding hasn’t had a lot of luck lately, but this could be spot to turn things around. Finally gets a decent post. This race surely has to have a LOT of action in it. He is versatile, to give YG options. I can make a case here.
4 FASHION CREDITOR Freshened up nicely and came back with better-than-it-looks qualifier. I do think he’ll need one more however. We do have to guess on those things. IF you think he’ll be primed, then go ahead and bet.
5 ZLATAN After a series of no-luck, but good efforts, he finally got his due. Perfect trip and drive to beat the weaker bunch, and now he begins the rise back up the ladder. Won’t be 2-1 in here, but would need huge mile to repeat.
6 OSVALDO BLUE CHIP Looks like the longshot in here to me. I think he’s a in need of even more class relief.
7 NEWCASTLE After the win here, Team Bongiorno sent him to Yonkers. One decent off the pace start. One where he got caught on the lead. I do wonder if this field might be a little too tough for him? I guess we’ll find out. YG opted off.
8 LASA DIDA LADY Finally got qualified here on the mile track, but it was a slow race. Not enough to tackle these.
9 BATTLE MAGE Rolled along at a pretty strong clip last week until he got a little tired. If anything, that should tighten him up and prepare him for more tonight. Has to leave again, due to the bad post. I can make a case for more.
10 NOWS THE MOMENT Was absolutely super here two weeks ago, but it’s the old swap out to post 10 now. He’s “assigned” this post and it’s never easy to overcome. Should be very interesting sprint into the first turn.
9 Ninth Race Entries
Picks: 6-2-4-3

1 VINTAGE BABE Recent form a little mixed as she works her way down the class ladder. I can’t even promise she’ll be any better here on the big track. So, with that said, let’s watch one and see if she belongs.
2 STYLISH BEACHWHERE Still waiting on the big wakeup call here and maybe tonight will be the night with this post relief. Coming out of a key race, that was won up front, so she had NO chance. This will be different. A must use.
3 FOLLOWTHEWIND N Things finally set up nicely for her last time, to defeat the weaker bunch. So, she steps back up, but must be respected. Drew good post again. Keeps the Double D in the seat. Plots for another nice trip tonight.
4 SHUTTHEFRONTDOOR I thought she would need that first start back here and she outperformed my expectations. Yes, it’s another bump up in class here, but she keeps A Nap. Versatile enough to go either way. Dangerous now.
5 WELL SAID MARIA Still looking like a “work in progress” for Team Burke. Forced way up the class ladder tonight, after another week off. Not sure I could recommend her vs. these. But, it’s your decision, folks.
6 SHESJUSTADELIGHT N Also coming out of same race as #2, and they were both pace and trip compromised. I’ve been chasing this lass for a while now, but recognize she will need to get a little “luckier” here to upset. A maybe.
7 GRUBICH GIRL We all missed the boat on this babe last week! She showed up very ready for her Big M debut and stormed by the field. That was impressive. But, now she double jumps and moves outside. That’s a bad combo.
8 JUXTA COWGIRL Did a fairly good job of “towing along” last week. But, while that trip worked out nicely, this one will not, from a very tough post. I don’t envision her blasting, so she’s up against it from way out here.
9 GIVEMEYOURHEART Have to wait for her eventual drop back down in class. Not likely to threaten in this slot.
10 NARCIAN JEWEL Had she drawn a better post, I’d advise you to use this lass. BUT, since she gets slammed with third straight terrible post, I probably have to prefer others. I will try to wait for the softer spot.
10 Tenth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 CHIEF JUSTICE That was a tough beat if you had the Chief last week. Very interesting comments from Yannick earlier on this gelding. But, that was pretty good try and I can’t argue with that. Same bunch. Moves to rail now.
2 BOMBSHELL BELLE Seems to be on the slow and steady path back. She’s not quite there yet. A longshot again.
3 GODSPELL HALL When this guy wants to play, there is definitely talent in the tank. That was superb rally last week and it seemed like Dex was just measuring them late. The hopples back on have worked. Let’s see if he trots again.
4 MAX VOLO He was okay last week, but I won’t call his effort great. Gets another inside post again and gets the Captain again, so he should be involved. Not sure he can upset and win, but he definitely can hit the ticket.
5 LAST MISSION Working way back into shape off the long layoff. Certainly didn’t get a good start with the miscue on the half, so let’s try him on the mile. I would need to see a good one before I could endorse here.
6 HAMMER CREEK Snapped a LONG losing skid by stealing one on the lead last week. Good for him! However, I’ve always felt that one of the biggest class hikes at M1 is the switch from NW2 to NW3. Very few pass successfully.
7 DOVER DONY Gotta love this guy! Did a lot of dirty work last week, setting things up for the closers. Horse fits here perfectly, but it will be up to Mr. Derue to get him an easier journey. And, that’s not so easy from an outer post.
8 NORTHERN CREDIT Looks like a private purchase, and new barn involved. Last time we saw him here, there was some speed involved. Technically, it’s a class drop, but in reality, maybe not so much. Tough call from way out here.
9 PENNANT SEELSTER I think I’m about “done” chasing this guy, and so is Dexter, opting to #3. The move out to tougher post doesn’t help at all. Looking like more of a longshot now.
10 TAKE A WISH Been doing fairly good work over at Yonkers in the check department. But, she doesn’t win all that often. Post 10 takes the fun out of things too! I doubt she hits the board from this starting slot.
11 Eleventh Race Entries

1 ATOMIC REI I really thought that was a decent spot for him last week and for once, I was right! Got out of traffic late and barreled home nicely. It’s ALL about pace and trip for this fella, but from rail, maybe he can sit a tad closer.
2 JUST N BERLANDER The move back inside immediately raises his profile. Appears best as a one-run closer, but he will likely be a lot closer to deliver that kick. If he gets the right trip, it might look like a Verlander splitter down stretch.
3 DAYLYN HORIZON Got a little time off after a decent campaign last year. By the end of it, he was getting too fired up on the lead. Didn’t look all that ready in the qualifier, so I suspect he’ll need a race or two.
4 SPORTS COWBOY Just never wins, so keep that in mind. Plus, he’s also missed a few weeks. Check chances only.
5 ABOUT THE BENJAMINS Wasn’t able to get the job done at short price down at Freehold. Wasn’t doing much when last seen here either. I do see a driver change here, but it’s not enough to make me want to bet.
6 BUCKEYE IN CHARGE Speaking of driver changes, here’s another. And, horse has actually rounded into better form lately. BUT, he will surely be overbet tonight and I never want a short price with this horse. Good luck if you bet.
7 DIABANDO Doesn’t appear to be up to this task just yet. I will simply take a pass and see if any better now.
8 CODE WORD 12YO warhorse scoots down from home base to take a big track try again. He doesn’t usually leave the gate too strongly, so this post will be a problem. Gets the Captain, however, and he knows the horse. Makes speed?
9 ABBEYLARA Went back to Freehold with a couple of top-notch tries. I guess the only knock is the post, but he might be able to leave a little. Since Nick has him sharp now, I make him the one to beat, even from post nine.
10 TWIN B TK Struggled home upon arrival here, so I can’t be too positive about chances in this post.
12 Twelfth Race Entries

1 FINAL DREAM That was a real tough beat if you had this guy last week at 24-1. It took a big mile from the winner to get by. Remember, this horse did the dirty work to put away #8. Has the same post, but you lose the big price.
2 LUCKY SHEILA She’s had some traffic issues recently. Okay. Could be a lot different tonight. I do wonder if Pat will try to step around #1 early for position. If he can, that would be great. Otherwise, they’re relegated to inside trip again.
3 PRESIDENTE ZETTE A bunch of us liked the Zette two weeks ago and he raced well, but not well enough to get by #8. Interesting spot here, since that foe came back and broke. I guess I’ll take one more shot with the 5YO. Grinds.
4 ALVISI HANOVER Finds his way back over from Yonkers and right back into a similar spot. The post relief alone will put him back in play, and I certainly wouldn’t talk you off him with Andy back aboard. He gets along with this one.
5 ALLINDOTIME Didn’t look all that ready for his comebacker. So, I’ll take another pass and see if any stronger tonight.
6 MIKEY LIKES IT I don’t have good history on guessing when Mikey will be ready. He’s round this class a tad too much so far. He doesn’t usually blast out of the gate, so this spot could be a problem. He will need a lot more.
7 NOTHING BUT MUSCLE Looks like a slow starter to me, and that means he might get away last in here. If so, that’s not going to work out too well.
8 BIZET What do we do here? After looking invincible, he came back to earth last week. Could not handle the pressure of #1, and then made a nasty break when roused for best. Draws same tough post. Short price. Do we go against?
13 Thirteenth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 UBANJI That was impossible trip in his first go here, so just forget about it. Gets a better post tonight, plus he’s got a speedy partner. By definition, this is the perfect entry. Either one can win, and wouldn’t be a surprise.
1A MIAMI Got collared on the lead again last time, pretty much setting the same pace. Horse doesn’t seem to relax all that well, and that’s a minor problem. His trip to the lead should be same. Will he hang on longer this week?
2 THISGUYISONFIRE It wasn’t all that long ago that he picked up a check against Trolley! Shouldn’t that mean something? I thought his last start was an improvement. I like the post. I think he should grind these down now.
3 TIME OUTA JAIL Don’t really know what to expect from this horse here. We can just toss the first try out of post 10. But, I feel he’s still got something to prove here. Maybe he can get a nice “follow trip” and kick in? A maybe.
4 FLY FLY SELENA Had to need that last one, but I’m still not ready to play just yet. I need to see a lot more first.
5 PIERCEWAVE HANOVER He fits in here, upon return from home base. Was more than competitive during many tries here prior. I like the post, but do wonder about the pace scenario for him. He needs a live flow, and a bigger kick.
6 SWANCREDIT That was super vicious try from the terrible post against weaker. No doubt the horse is good right now, but he is forced up the class ladder and also could be pace compromised. Demand fair value, if you fancy.
7 GLOBAL REVOLUTION Finds his way back to the mile track, with some real mixed form on view. He can leave, if pilot wants, but doesn’t always do so. Remember, he’s one slot outside #1A and that horse will be blasting.
8 RUBBER DUCK The Duck squandered good trip two back. Had a much rougher journey last week. Gets to dip back down, but doesn’t get the post to go along with it. Tough test for Andy to get him into the game late.
9 FASHION WINNER Hasn’t showed anything lately, but is taking a class drop. I still can’t like him out of post 10.
