H Horse Comment
1 PIERCEWAVE HANOVER Had one good start here, and one bad start, and then a scratch. So, current form is a bit suspect, but if he were to bring his "A" game, he fits. Drew the rail and has speed. Potent combination.
2 SWEET JUSTICE Well, the veteran sure proved that second was no fluke! Came right back with a top notch effort last week and Vinny drove like he knew he'd be good! Steps up a bit here, but has the back class to handle it. Usable. Trainer: Seems to be regaining form and had a good week.
3 KARETS Didn't look all that ready in either the qualifier, or the comebacker. Looks like a longshot again.
4 WILDFLOWER Rallying mare is just 1-30 over past two seasons, so that is a problem. And yet she's never really that big of a price! This is prime spot to step up and deliver a better effort, but she will need a smoother trip. Your call?
5 SHADY MCCOY Freshened up a little bit by Eric A and came back with okay qualifier. I did feel like he needed that, so add in the missed week for cancelation and he might need another. I will wait for softer spot.
6 ALEXANDER HANOVER Has to be considered the one to beat tonight, off that well-bet, powerful trip a few weeks ago. He's one of several class hikers in here, so it's not that big of a jump. Have to expect the same good speed. Trainer: Should be good. He's ready to go!
7 IT REALLY MATTERS Last two tries at this level were nothing to write home about. Yes, this field is definitely a bit lesser than that last one, but he's still hard to handicap. You never know what you're going to get. Tough call.
8 FLEET BUMBLEBEE Seems very outclassed in this spot, especially coming off that break. Have to pass out here.
9 WORTH THE MONEY AS Has rounded back into form nicely, but isn't this too big of a class hike? I think so, and so did A Nap, who chose #6. The post is added killer because he doesn't possess much early zip. Must get lucky.
10 BROADWAY CONCERT It's now over a month since she last raced, so this has to be a 10-hole "tour of the track," right? I will go with that theory and let her prove me wrong, if she can.

1 STIRLING ESCORT Over from Yonkers and stuck right into the Preferred. That's almost not fair. I guess I'd be surprised if this gelding was ready to roll with the likes of #5,6,7. Sits in, saves ground, tries to get lucky late.
2 RODEO ROMEO At least this fella kept up well enough last week to get a check. And that was just his first start back off a long layoff. So, there is hope here, and I'd like to see him continue to get better. On the comeback trail!
3 STARZNHEAVEN Let's not forget that he beat a bunch of these last month, so that's a plus. He'll need that sort of trip again and I'm not so sure it will be a smooth one tonight. Might not offer that 22-1 price tonight either!
4 JK WILL POWER Took a ton of tote action last week and endured his second straight tough trip. Yes, he's overdue to get a little luckier, but what will the trip look like tonight? He doesn't leave, so forced to grind it out again. Trainer: Has one solid move. If they time it right, he can get there.
5 WESTERN FAME Off since September, so that's a concern. Two qualifiers back and they were both pretty good. Horse likes to dig in late when tested, and he'll get that chance here. Might have to fire out, just to grab position.
6 BETTOR'S EDGE I have to admit, the excuses here are piling up a bit. There was no reason for him not to hold on last week when dropped in class. Now, it's back to the top level, and facing #7. This ain't gonna be easy! Use under again?
7 AWESOMENESS Been absolutely awesome over the past two starts. Has now proven that he can leave, and then dig in. Should be interesting sprint to first turn with #6, and hopefully, they don't kill each other. If they do, sets up for closers?

1 FIJI Gelding is going very well right now, and catches a huge break with the inside draw. He is meeting a few "good ones" in here, but I won't question his speed right now. Guaranteed blast out, and then sit to the drive. Usable. Trainer: Has been on a nice run of late. Had a nice week of training. Fingers crossed.
2 P L HERCULES Freshened up by the Burke Brigade to begin his 2018 campaign. Seven time winner last year, a lot of good work done at Philly. Maybe that's the strategy? Getting him ready for Philly? They open next Saturday.
3 EXPLOSIVE RIDGE He was a lot better in that second start, and I remember trainer saying they were going to experiment with open bridle? Maybe that helped, but he will continue to work into shape here. Gets a little closer. Trainer: Raced much better with the open bridle last start. Came out of the race well. Heading in the right direction.
4 ACES AND EIGHTS Boy, this is tough horse to figure out. One of the few that "handled" the track on that snow night. Then regressed into a miscue at Yonkers. 4YO is in very tough with this bunch, so expect driver to be patient.
5 DI OGGI That win early last month was a strong one. And on best day, he can definitely go with these. I love the midpack post to give pilot options. And, the price might be right too! If #7 gets overbet. I'd like him at a price.
6 UPFRONT BILLY Used early last time and paid the price late. That was not a great start. Tonight's key is the dip down one notch in class. That usually wakes Billy back up, but I don't know what strategy will be. Has to leave a little.
7 SUCH AN ANGEL Had two very good qualifiers to begin his 2018 campaign. Was canceled last week, so has to wait the extra week. Will that help? Not so sure about that. Andy sticks, so that's a confident call. We'll see if ready.
8 YOU'RE MAJESTIC Bettors taking it in the teeth over last two. He wasn't all that great, even when third. Drew a very tough post here now, so demand fair value if you fancy. I think he'll offer much better odds. But maybe not good enuf.
9 STEED Looks like a longshot again, making just his second start back off a layoff. Probably needs one more.
10 ROUNDTOWN ROCKER Very tough call on this guy too! Last try at this level, from this post was a good one! Are we getting that type of race again? Has the speed to fire out and cause a little mayhem. Very tough race indeed!

1 DEEP STACK HANOVER No threat with tough trip here two back. The Yonkers line isn't inspiring either. I just have my doubts that he's a true mile track horse. Will have to prove me wrong.
2 ALWAYS A DIAMOND Certainly in need of some class relief and this is it. Was well-bet and "live" last time he tried this level. Drew a good post, and should offer a square price. If underlay odds, I will probably swing against.
3 PERSEVERANT Not sure what happened last time, but he wasn't very good. Right back in the box, so things must be okay. On his "good" night, he can go with these, but I guess we just have to guess. Not sure what's coming.
4 HIGH OCTANE N Retains longshot status here, second try after a freshening. Simply not fully ready yet.
5 ROCK POWER Did good work down at Freehold, and then had an eight-hole at Yonkers, so forget about that. This is additional class relief and ideal post. It's now or never time in this spot. Chance for a big track win, if he's good.
6 VICTORYDAZE WILWIN Was a little bit better last time, so that could be the hint we've been waiting for. If things get a little Western with #8 forcing the pace, it could set up for a closer. Will need the right trip, but it is possible.
7 EVER AGAIN Got shuffled off to Buffalo last week and then came flying home with no chance. Everybody saw it, so I don't anticipate the same kind of betting value. Also, this post will make things a bit tougher. Needs to get luckier. Trainer: Has been inconsistent, but wins if as good as last start.
8 DANCINGWITHDELIGHT The key to the race, because this is final drop to the bottom. Everybody knows he'll be going right to the lead, and if left untested, will probably wire them! Would be very hard to leave out, on the drop.
9 HOME JAMES Not exactly lighting up the board lately, and the move to this post makes him a pass for now. Trainer: Came up a little bit short last week with a perfect trip.
10 SUNSHINE WEST Seemed to be in a much better spot last week when we canceled. Now, he's got post 10, with several leavers just inside of him. That's probably not going to work out too well, but ya never know.
5 Fifth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 THE FIRE WITHIN In for the tag here, so I do wonder if there will be any takers? He's shown speed before, plus last time he drew rail, he won! Could be interesting price play, if he can get the trip behind #7. That would help.
2 BUPA BRUISIER Up from Freehold where he's been suffering a case of the bad post blues. When I look at overall record, I see a lot of seconds and thirds. Maybe we use underneath at a price? That's not a bad idea.
3 JOJO JOVE In pretty good form right now. Very good in the win, and a solid second behind well-meant winner. I like the post and versatility. He can easily be part of this with any type smooth journey. That's the key here. Trainer: Raced good after missing two weeks. Should be right there this week.
4 TERROR OF THE NITE That was strange race tossed in by this gelding last time. Started sluggishly, and then clogged. Not sure what happened, but if he's good tonight, it'll be back to the speed. That's his best weapon.
5 MASTER OF PUPPETS Has now been off since January, so that IS a problem. Not sure he can be ready for this.
6 DRUNKEN TERROR Always seems to be overbet for some reason, and just never delivers the goods! Therefore, I will pass on him, as usual and let him beat me if he can. Would need another dream trip, but a lot more kick.
7 WALKS OF LIFE Paid a very low price wiring that field at Freehold. Was allowed to control things his own way, just like a few of the wins here. Somehow, I just don't think he'll be allowed to rate here. We'll find out. One to catch.
8 ZERO THE HERO Reclaimed by barn, but out of another tiring effort. It's taking a while to get back into shape, after that quarantine. He's in a very bad spot here, drawn outside big speed. I would be surprised if he won.
9 EVERY INTENTION Had he drawn a better post, I probably would have liked more. This will be difficult spot, because I don't see him blasting out. If things set up for the closers, then watch for him late. Has a nice kick at times.
10 DR C'S Z TAM Not exactly going great guns right now, and the post is an absolute killer. Hard to like out here. Trainer: Trained very good this week.
6 Sixth Race Entries
Picks: 6-9-2-3
H Horse Comment
1 BERING SEA HANOVER Freshened up by Burke Brigade. Probably for a regular slot down at Philly, starting next week. Qualifier wasn't all that great, so this will likely serve as a second "prep."
2 GRIFFON HANOVER Certainly outraced his odds in that comebacker. Not bad! Plus, tonight he gets a class drop. Will he be A-1 cranked and ready here? If so, he has decent upset chance. One possibility in hard-to-handicap race.
3 MEETYOUATMIDNIGHT Ran into two very good ones past month, so he simply didn't get lucky. But, he is good right now! Definitely a "proven commodity" at this level, and inside post will help too! Not an easy toss in any way. Trainer: Is sharp right now and had a good week. Hoping for same kind of trip as last start.
4 WINDSONG JACK Had a tough go of it over at Yonkers. Those outside posts there just kill ya! This is better starting slot here, and he did shock us that one time at long odds. I guess I wouldn't talk you off him, if you want to bet.
5 ST LADS MOONWALK Returned to his better form up at home base against much lesser. Certainly has plenty of back class to work with, but he'll need a lot more than he showed here a month ago. Is it coming? Don't know.
6 BAD BOY BRAD A Burned a little bit of money when probably overbet down at Dover. Looks like three straight tough trips there, so barn brings him back to Club Med. Is this the right spot? Absolutely! If close top stretch, watch out.
7 JACKSRLUCKYTOO Jack just missed last time, with another of his quality efforts. Tonight's problem is the same, however. It's a bad post, and he figures to get away near the back of the pack. Hoping for some mayhem up front. Trainer: He has been awesome. Really good if he can work out a trip.
8 PHIL YOUR BOOTS Was bet like a "good thing" last time here and stopped after being used hard early. Could it be same thing here? If he guns, there could be mayhem coming. That won't work to his advantage. Very tough call.
9 QUALITY CLOSER Should be sufficiently raced back into shape by now. Has a ton of back class, but it'll be a risk betting on him from this post. I liked the spot he was in last week a lot better. This will be no easy task.
7 Seventh Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 I'M SOME GRADUATE Overcame post 10 last time, with a very professional effort. A good step in the right direction and he'll have to take another step forward on the class hike here. There are some good ones in here. No easy spot.
2 CAPOZZO Worked his way too high in class over at Yonkers, so he slides over here, and barely in for the condition. But, in reality, aren't these too tough for him? I think so. Will have to go a big mile to prove me wrong.
3 DURANT Boy is he good right now! I mean really good. Gets the acid test for class against a field like this, however. He is in for the $30K tag, but he's facing horses that are better than claimers. Not sure he'll be up to the task.
4 LAWRENCETOWN BEACH Had his "tour" of the track in the comebacker off the layoff. That will serve him well. But, I must point out that when Yannick opts off a Burke trainee, I get worried. He chose to stick with #9. Telling?
5 FEEL THE NEED A Talk about confusing form? How do we explain his last few races? Maybe the off track? This level still feels a little too high for him, but horse can jump up at times. I'm not that quick to toss him out at price. Trainer: Doing well. Should pace home strongly.
6 MAKE A STATEMENT A I can't like them all, so let's consider this one a big longshot, and a pass for now.
7 BEYOND DELIGHT The whole world loved him last week, but at least he delivered the goods! That was really solid win, and now with a couple of races under his belt, we might see even more. It wouldn't shock me if he was better.
8 COWBOY TERRIER Love the way this gelding is going right now. But, alas, he loses Gingras here, and gets slammed with another bad post on a class hike. That all adds up to a tough call. Horse is good, but this is rough spot.
9 GREAT VINTAGE And the final piece of this very difficult puzzle is the back class master. Was very good in the comebacker, doing a lot of the dirty work. Gets a touch of class relief, but must overcome the post. Won't be easy.

H Horse Comment
1 RATHER SWELL Was pretty good in those tough, claiming handicaps. Note he's out of the claimer now. Caught a nice break with the inside draw and plots for a nice, stalking trip. I guess if he gets out, watch out. Might offer value too! Trainer: Draws the inside after missing a week. Hopefully, he can be up near the front.
2 CENTURY CHURCHILL He's had a couple of chances at this level, and failed to deliver the goods. Used early last time and paid the price late. I would imagine the trip will be different tonight. Back to an off-the-pace mode most likely.
3 ALL WEEK Raced very well at the reduced level last two. Didn't get the win, but was good! Now, he's forced up the class ladder, and that's usually when I hop off. Not sure how big the price will be, so I might prefer others here.
4 SISKEL He's gotten good again! That was very good second to overwhelming winner last time. I'll even add a few points if that foe won again in tonight's seventh race. Perfect post to grind into it again. Hard to leave out. Trainer: Is razor sharp and should be tough in there.
5 SAMS TRIPLE CROWN The outside post pretty much killed his chances last week, but this is brand new ballgame tonight. Sam will be part of this, be it early or late, and he might even be the one to beat. Due to get lucky again.
6 HALLIE'S COMET Took the eight-hole "tour of the track" in his comebacker. No worries. Gets a touch of class relief to go along with second start on Lasix. It will be wakeup call time soon, but not sure it's tonight. I'm going to wait.
7 FRANKY'S BEACH BOY Did race a little better last time, so that could be a hint that he's ready to come around again. There are a few question marks in here, and Franky is one of them. His best gets him into the game. Post hurts.
8 JEREMES GENERAL So far, that Rosecroft form hasn't transferred too well up here. Gets stuck with a bad starting slot and wasn't Brett's choice. I will let him beat me, if he can.
9 SOUTHERN PURSUIT N That was excellent effort from this fella last time and he's now forced up in class again, with a switch to a much tougher post. Can he handle it? That is a good question. I can envision Marcus sending again.
9 Ninth Race Entries

1 FOX VALLEY HERBIE Fourth start back. Fourth straight class drop. A switch to a much better post, so it might be time for the light bulb to go on. I know his recent races look poor, but this may be what they were waiting for.
2 CHIP WALTHER Just keeps getting bet for some unknown reason, and fact is, he's not good right now! Yes, he gets an inside post tonight, but will probably be overbet once again with Nap aboard. Horse needs a LOT more to win.
3 SIX GUN Dropped and popped a few weeks ago against the lesser claimers. And he earned the win too! Begins the climb back up the ladder here, in for the optional $15K tag. He'll probably be just as good here. Can threaten.
4 VERDAD Like many from the Burke Brigade lately, he's been freshened up too! They all "needed" their first starts back over the track, but they're all liable to wake up in a hurry. This is the spot, as he exits claimers tonight. Watch out.
5 SANTIAGO STYLE He's had a few to get legs back under him. I still don't think he's ready, but might be soon.
6 IWILLMAKEYOUSAYWOW Strong trip and drive last time to post the "popular" win at 4-5. Now, it's back up in class and a loss of Yannick. This will be significantly much tougher. Demand fair value, if you fancy repeat chances.
7 STAKEOUT Did some good work down at Freehold and then had a disaster at Rosecroft. Yes, that's 26 flat he paced out of the gate there! Will we see that kind of speed here? I'm guessing no, but you never know. A longshot here.
8 SPORTY REDHOT Elected to qualify at Monti, not here, so I do wonder if he'll be quite primed and ready for this. I'm going to guess no, but we leave this barn's starters out at great risk. Horse likes the big track too! Tough call.
9 SPAGHETTI EDDIE Nice trip and drive from Eric C on this one last time. He was well-meant, and well bet. So, if Eric C opts to drive #8 tonight, doesn't that tell us something? This is tougher field, and he's bumped up in price to $15K.
10 SOUTHWIND GENERAL Into a new barn here, so that always deserves consideration. I guess the Burke Brigade just had enough of him! Underachiever. Let's see how Marino does with him. This is tough spot from post 10.
10 Tenth Race Entries

1 SPIRIT OF TRUTH Up and down the class ladder lately, and I still feel these are too tough for him. He did pick up a check last time, so that's a good thing. The goal is the same here. Sit in, save ground and try to keep up.
2 THEREISAPACEFORUS Over from Yonkers and into what looks like a very nice spot, on the class drop. I'll add that A Nap had options in here and chose this fella, who he's driven. I know that record is poor, but good chance vs. these.
3 YO CHEYENNE ROCKY Marcus chose this one over #1, but I did expect that. Horse gets MUCH needed post relief and he's been in against some real tough customers lately. Like #2, this is the right spot. Go ahead and bet if you like.
4 I LIKE DREAMIN First start back after a freshening, and he's overclassed with these. Wait for the drop later on.
5 MISTER TRUTH Kind of the same boat as #1. When they're in a class like this, it's asking a lot. Moves from pole to post five, which isn't bad, but it will make things a little tougher. I would be surprised if he beat these.
6 URBAN RENEWAL I'd have to say he's tailed off a bit. Or, this is just too high in class. Nap opted off again, so that's a little bit of a knock. Drew an outer post here, so I have to consider him a longshot tonight. Trainer: He's ready! Just depends on the trip and how close he is in the stretch.
7 GRAVE DANCER This guy raced very well last time! Against a well-meant winner too! Had Brett Miller opted here, I would probably like a lot more, but he went to #9. Probably feels the class hike will be too much. We'll see.
8 MANNY Got back into the swing of things up at home base, Saratoga. I guess there wasn't a class for him up there, so why not try him here! Took a nice mark on big track at Vernon last year, so he'll probably fit. Very usable.
9 BAD GAMER This was Brett's choice tonight, after an "acclimating" mile here last week. It wasn't a bad effort, but he wasn't beating Cowboy no matter what. Will need a bit more tonight, but that's possible, even from post nine. Trainer: Was okaty in first start on a mile track. Had a good week of training.
10 GRAND GALOP SEMALU Gelding likes to win. That's for sure! 11 for 36 last year. First start back tonight, off just one slow qualifier. I'm going to guess that he will need this. But, I will be watching closely for future consideration.

1 BARIMAH A Now MIA since Feb. 2. He can't possibly be ready for this, right? I don't think so. Pass for now.
2 GLASS PRINCE One move type of closer here. Gets a key inside post while in for the optional $15K claiming tag. Horse is good right now and price will probably still be right. Only needs a bit more to get close again.
3 SIR MACHALOT Don't really know what's going on with this fella at the moment. Some bad posts. Some tough fields. He does seem "overdue" for a wakeup call, and they usually come on drops like this. This is good bunch for this level.
4 MAAJAACKKOBE Nap gave him every chance last week, attacking, clearing and then tiring. It was solid step in right direction, but Nap did have a choice to make and went with #5. That has to tell us a little something. Needs a trip.
5 WORKANDPLAYHARD Fought tenaciously to win that last one, and it really caught my eye. He's "dangled" for the $15K tag again, but Nap sticks with him. This looks like tougher bunch tonight, and I don't see much price. Your call?
6 CALVIN B Veteran has burned a lot of money here over past few months, but he's back down in class tonight. Gets a new driver with Corey not here tonight. Will likely be overbet, so I'll wish you luck if you're trying. Needs a trip to win. Trainer: Has been hampered by foot issues, but seems much better. Looking for improvement.
7 NOCTURNAL BLUE CHIP Raced well again last time, giving hints that he's ready to deliver a big one soon. Tonight's problem is probably the post. Does have speed, however! Don't be surprised if Andy sends him again. Trainer: Improved effort last week. Looking for more of the same.
8 ARTSMAH Probably exits the best last try out of any of these! Was charging home at better than 30-1. That race had some class in it. Had A Nap taken the call again, I probably would have liked more. One of many possibilities.
9 ART HISTORY I'll call him Mr. Inconsistant for now. When he's good, he's more than capable of winning. But, we also get some mysteriously bad races too! He IS dropping, but I have no idea what to expect tonight.
10 PREPPY ART MIA for a while too, so he looks like an easy pass from post 10 in this impossible race. Not for me.

1 GOLD STAR ROGER Gets a bit of post relief, but still doesn't look ready to fire a big shot. I will pass again.
2 FREE LOVE Also has the look of a longshot to me. Hasn't shown much here yet, and needs a lot more.
3 DRAGONINTHECHIPS Up from Freehold with no recent wins. This looks like huge hike up in class, so I would need to see a good one here, before I could consider betting. Not just yet for me.
4 BRICKMAN This is the now or never spot for him. Barn has had enough of him in conditions and now drops in for the bottom pricetag. He'll either destroy these, or finish flat, like he has in every recent start. Not sure what to do.
5 CHARMBO CURIOSITY This is the kind of spot where he usually wakes back up. The midpack post is ideal for him, but he does get a new driver tonight, with Marcus choosing #4. That made sense. Still, chance at the upset. Trainer: He's good right now! Would like to see him up near the front.
6 DANISHDUJOUR The Mann changed up the strategy last time, sailing this fella out of there. Still didn't work out. There really isn't that much other speed in here, so I do wonder if he'll try that again. A rated pace gives chance.
7 OUTCRY I thought he was in better situation last time when we canceled. Now, from this post, it looks a lot tougher. I still give him decent chance to win, but Eric A will have to get him into the game. Will try to outkick #4, and rest.
8 FOX VALLEY CADET Suffering a good case of bad post blues. He had tailed off a bit too! I guess I wouldn't be shocked with a more positive effort against this bunch. But, he'll have to do it with a better start. Tough call. Trainer: Got the outside again, but has been racing good from out there.
9 FLY'N WITH ROYALTY That was pretty strong try last time, against an odds-on winner. Fought tooth and nail all the way home. Not exactly "rewarded" for that, with this post, but he's good now. He might be sending out of there.
10 SONIC IVY Would be very tough to endorse here, on the ship up from Freehold. Post 10 usually ruins chances.

1 DRINKIN AGAIN Owns a poor overall win record, so I'm not considering for top spot. BUT, I would give a little consideration for a spot underneath. He "likes" to finish second. That's for sure. Eric A will try to protect the pole.
2 TEGANSMILE Endured two brutal trips in both local tries thus far. It's time to give this guy a sit-in trip. He'll probably get that, but can sit up close due to inside post. Let's see if he kicks home any better tonight.
3 CLOUSEAU HANOVER He looked to be overmatched last time and was. This is slightly different spot tonight. He's not likely going to beat #4, but could easily be a lot closer late. Don't expect big odds on him in here.
4 ROCK ON LINE Was visually impressive in winning his second straight last week! Blasted right down the road and won with plenty left. He will likely win this again, last time in this class, but you can expect about $3 to win. Trainer: Has come full circle and is so sharp in the barn right now. I can't see any change in form.
5 WILLIE JOE HILL Didn't look all that ready in the comeback, and even broke. Not good. A pass for now.
6 WHATA TWIST Moves back to an outer post here and he doesn't leave. Completely at mercy of pace and trip and there doesn't figure to be much pace once #4 gets to the lead. Will hope for live cover, and a rally.
7 ROCKIN MACHINE Did a fairly good job of chasing #4 last week, to be clearly second best. That came from a nice, inside post, so this will be different. He HAS to leave, and hope for some sort of position again. Not going to be easy.
8 JOE'S BID Raced a LOT better than expected last time, with no chance the way it went. BUT, it's going to be the same thing again, right? Will probably benefit from another brave-up rally anyway. We'll have to wait one more week. Trainer: Closed well off the pace last start. Might be looking at same trip. Hopefully there is good, live flow..
9 YO APOLLO CREED Was pretty flat last time, burning even more money. At least we know he won't be the favorite tonight. Gets another new driver with Marcus taking #4. Will have a long way to come from the back.
10 HEAVENLY SOUND Had he drawn a better post, he might get more of a look. BUT, it's first start back off the layoff. It's post 10. And he's in against a 2-5 shot. Therefore, I suspect he's going to need this. Wait for later on.
