1 TEAGAN HANOVER Went back and qualified again for Team Harmon, so Rob must not have been happy with her starts. She did go a touch faster, so that’s encouraging. Both her, and partner get inside posts. Still need to step it up.
1A TEARDOWN THIS WALL Scooted back up from Florida and qualified in just fair fashion. For him, it was a fast mile, but he will have to learn to go even quicker. At least he did stay trotting. Will probably need this mile again.
2 HAMMER CREEK Can’t really fault this guy for consistency, but I wouldn’t advise you putting on top. So, with that said, if you think #5 is lock like most folks, then use this entry in the second and third slot. That’s the ticket!
2A BOLD GODDESS Flashed a little bit better speed in second Big M try, but came up a little empty late. Post 10 now.
3 TRIXAR Big question mark tonight, with the missed time AND the barn change. I’m not saying he can’t get close, but I am willing to watch one first. Inside post, plus the Captain make it intriguing. But, I will wait for now.
4 AB’S ROYAL PUNKIN Got a couple of weeks off in Camp Chiodo to try and straighten things out. The mare had been tailing off and racing erratically. So, for tonight’s purposes, we’ll take a pass and see if anything more pops up.
5 HAVEONEFORME Was very good in her debut win. Was even better in the follow-up that she just missed to a well-meant male. When I look at this bunch, she’s a complete standout from the better post, but very short price.
6 DANCE TO FAME Now 0-2 since shipping east to Club Med and both starts resulted in breaks. That’s not good, so let’s look for any equipment changes or something that might keep the mare on stride.
7 STORMING MIST Here’s another BIG question mark from an outside post. Will likely take some betting action, due to Yannick’s presence, but even he couldn’t keep horse trotting over at Yonkers. Wasn’t great when last seen here either.
8 HONGERHOLT RED I guess the name has something to do with fact he’s a chestnut horse? Finds his way to NJ with an undistinguished record. Will the big track pick him up? Maybe, but it’s still post nine!

1 JUST FOR YOU Boy, just when you thought this mare was ready to deliver a big one and threaten the top dogs, she regressed into a rare miscue. I’ll give her a pass for that, because she never breaks. Has to bounce back huge now.
2 TWO AM Finished up absolutely loaded with trot last week, once Tyler was able to get him out of traffic. BUT, it’s still step up to the Preferred level that’s been a problem. Likely can’t get around #1. Has to be patient again and sit.
3 RESITA Burke Brigade has two of the six in here and they start right alongside each other, with post protection on the favorite. They BOTH have speed too! Yannick took #4 as expected, but don’t count out this improving gelding either.
4 IN SECRET Gets his first BIG test of 2019, but will surely benefit from three superb confidence builders. Couldn’t possibly have looked any better in each race, and I do think he’s ready to give Trolley a tussle. Will make it tough.
5 SUTTON Here’s the wild card in the race! And I say that for many reasons. We know he’s fast enough. And he is fresh enough! He’s usually ready right away, because he doesn’t get that many starts. Only nine all of last year. Qualifier was exactly what they wanted, but will he leave right into the teeth of the two Burkes? That is a very good question.
6 TROLLEY And, finally, the sharpest trotter at the track. He’s been absolutely awesome in each and every recent appearance. The breaks between races are by design and keep him fresh. As usual, this one will be a little tougher, but he just loves to ride up alongside and fight. Marcus will drive with confidence. I think he gets by #4 late.
3 Third Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 DANDY’S BEAUTY Mare hit high gear down at Freehold and somebody was sharp enough to claim her. Probably planned on bringing her back here, where she’s had a lot of prior success. This is BIG step up, though. Must prove it.
2 FOX VALLEY BAILEY Was waiting for her to bounce back to better form, and it could yet come, but not I’m not convinced. Not quite as sharp as last Nov and Dec. I need to see a better mile before I could endorse again.
3 TEARFUL OF HAPPY I’ve got real mixed feelings about her too! I think the outside post hurt her most last week, but her kick still wasn’t the same. Loses Yannick here, but I understand that too. I think she’ll try more speed now.
4 WELL SAID MARIA Yannick did stick here, but even he would admit this mare is a question mark. I’m still going to give her credit for that strong qualifier vs. Rockin Praline, who won. But, obviously, she’s got to stay pacing. Your call?
5 KEYSTONE NIKKI Barn is usually dangerous in spots like this. They have two in here. This lass had a sneaky-good effort in first try here. I like the post and potential for good trip. She wouldn’t be a shocker to me.
6 THE SECOND STAR Anytime there’s a new barn in play, and horse shows winning experience here, you’d better take an extra look. IF the betting board were to show some action, take a further look. I’ll be watching very closely.
7 BYE HANOVER Loved her last week and she was okay, but not great. Moved a tad early and it didn’t help. Similar post, but maybe a slightly weaker field? Either way, I have to give her another chance to pay off. Decent price?
8 LIVE ODDS Typical good drive from Marcus on this mare from inside post last week. That was then, and this is now, post eight. Completely different situation and she is still a longshot to me. Needs even more from out here.
9 PLAIN OLD JANE Like a few others in here, Jane is in need of a complete wakeup call, and those are hard to predict. A class drop is usually one of the things to spur an improvement. But, it’s still post nine and I need to see it first.
4 Fourth Race Entries
Picks: 5-2-6-8
H Horse Comment
1 BELL A CHICK The Chick failed to deliver a kick in his last, so that makes him total mystery once again. The rail, and a very slow start didn’t work and it’s same post and situation. IF you choose to bet, I will simply wish you luck.
2 EYORE HANOVER Been pretty disappointing lately, folks. Yes, I know some of it was due to outside posts. One of these nights, he will probably step up and surprise us, but we all have to guess when. Second time Corey? Maybe.
3 KNIGHTOFVICTORY For whatever reason, this horse always takes some betting action and I certainly don’t know why. It’s been forever since he won and those chronic, slow starts never help. Gets a new driver tonight. Good luck!
4 KASCARA ROSA A fresh face to Club Med. Shows some breaks, but also an improved last start. Is she a fit here at the Big M? I’m leaning towards no, but I have been wrong before. Let’s see if The Mitchster can get her a trip.
5 CAN DO It took just about forever but the 10YO warhorse has finally rounded back into better form and tonight’s probably the night to bet. Gets Yannick back and that’s the clincher. He’s going to be aggressive. The one to catch, beat.
6 MAX VOLO Been buried in a variety of tough spots, and stuck with bad posts. This is clearly a drop and if you like Max here, I certainly wouldn’t talk you off. The knock might be the post again. Has to gear up good to catch Can Do.
7 DOWNUNDERMATTER None of his recent starts have been anything to write home about. He’s clearly lacked his usual good kick. I can’t expect it will come tonight, but ya never know. Not quite my type of play, until I see more.
8 DAWSON SPRINGS Note the new barn here! That immediately could spring some sort of wakeup call. Obviously, the horse hasn’t been any good for a while, but there is some back class. Check for any equipment changes too!
9 MISTRESS VALENTINE Tyler gave her every chance last week, firing out for great trip. She tried hard too! Sadly, this post drawn here further complicates matters. Not sure I could reach in and play her tonight. Much tougher spot.
10 CON AIR HALL Where’s he going from post 10? My guess is not very far. Pass.
5 Fifth Race Entries
Picks: 4-7-9-10
H Horse Comment
1 DALTON DID IT Dalton hasn’t done anything here yet. He needs a price plunge, or a class drop. Pass.
2 MAY I CRUISE WEST Also looking like a longshot again. Hit the board only once so far this year and only asset is th inside post. That will keep him close enough, but he must avoid any traffic too!
3 SOVEREIGN BANNER N Had that race over the track. And, he takes the price drop to the more reasonable level. Can you say wakeup call? An improved effort wouldn’t shock me, but it’s been a LONG time since he won a race.
4 SHOW ME UP After that great win of last month, it’s been a variety of tough posts and bad trips since. He’s still facing Pop Pop, but at least he’s got the post edge this time. Looking at insiders, Mitch will send in this spot. Trips out?
5 SKYWAY BILLY Real mixed feelings about Billy upon return to Club Med. His stamina level has been lacking, especially here on the mile track. Would need an ideal journey, and a little luck to have an upset chance.
6 OHIO LARRY Larry’s been a bit of a mixed bag too! Hot property at the claim box, but just one win to show for it this year. Failed to get involved in last start vs. these. I know I wouldn’t want a short price with him in here.
7 CC BIG BOY SAM Sam is just a pro, and races well for everybody. Big Bob takes a turn now and Corey gets a reride! Might have to show a touch more speed from this slot, but Sam can do it. Would be very hard to leave out.
8 FOUR STACES He’s on an extended good form spree. Really had no chance to catch the Pop last time, but still came on willingly. These outer posts do NOT help the cause, so he has to get a trip too! They can’t all get a trip, folks.
9 DOUBLE IMPACT Here’s another potential barn change bonanza. So far, trainer has raced two horses and they both woke up BIG time. Have to consider that. Remember Julerica? He listed Yannick, so that’s sign of positive intent.
10 POP POP JOE Can’t be any sharper than this folks, but nothing derails a hot streak like post 10! So, I will try to swing against here, simply due to the post. There are a few other possibilities in here.
6 Sixth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 DEKEYSER Now makes his third start for the new barn and they move him back to the big track with a considerable class drop. Will that be enough to “revive” his form? Probably. It’s no easy spot, but I expect more from him tonight.
2 MISS RUBY Seemed like a few folks took a step with Ruby last time on the drop to this level. Didn’t work out. This is still a difficult field for this level, so I’m not ready to hop on board just yet. Likely to just sit in, save ground this time.
3 MARION GONDOLIER Same thing as #2. Took a TON of betting action last week and was raced aggressively. The trip just didn’t work out. I expect better odds here, if you want to swing again. She would need some things to go his way.
4 ROCK OF CASHEL The Rock finally stepped back up and showed his back class. Was it that minor equipment change, or did something else wake him back up? I don’t know. However, off confidence builder, he’s hard to ignore.
5 CAN’T CUTTHATCHIP Just can’t get lucky and find a way to win one here. One of these nights, he will. But, even I can see the class hike involved tonight. That will only make it tougher. Hoping for ideal trip from the midpack post.
6 TAG UP AND GO I, and others, have been chasing this guy for a while now. Post 10 and ran into a buzzsaw last time. Might be the same here, but he does start from a better slot. That alone has to help. I’ll give him one more shot.
7 CASH FOR GOLD After two straight nine-holes, this isn’t all that much relief. Since he lacks speed, he’s totally at mercy of both pace and trip and I see others that I would prefer for now. Have to be patient, wait for better spot.
8 FOX VALLEY STEFFEN This is probably a little too high for him. May have to wait for amateur races again.
9 UBANJI 11YO is a new shooter to Club Med. His races down at home base are certainly nothing to write home about. He gets slammed with post nine here, in very competitive field. I guess I’d need to see a good one here first.
10 ARCHIBALD Double class hikes, AND post 10 usually mean automatic pass for me. That’s the case here.
7 Seventh Race Entries
Picks: 3-7-1-2
H Horse Comment
1 FAMILY ROLL CALL Had the misfortune of running into a buzzsaw in #3 last week and must face her again. I have a feeling the odds will be a little better tonight, if you want to try again. You know Yannick will protect the inside.
2 SHESJUSTADELIGHT N I guess it’s been a little frustrating lately over at Yonkers. They send her back here, on yet another class drop and she will be live in here! But, so are some of the others. Demand fair value if you want to swing.
3 ROCKIN PRALINE After a “needed” race over the track, she just flaunted her speed and blitzed right down the road. She looked good doing it too! So, the ascent back up the class ladder starts, but I liked what I saw. She can handle it.
4 FANCY CREEK JOLENE She’s been well-backed in her two most recent starts and she was relatively flat in both. So, if you want to try her again, I will simply wish you luck. Just not as sharp as she was back in December.
5 THE SPINSTER N Stevie did exactly the same thing two weeks ago, sending her out of there strongly. But, the mare came up empty late. Why? It was second time Lasix. Extra week off. So, I do have some questions now. Your call?
6 FOLLOWTHEWIND N Tried Yonkers twice and was well-bet both times, but came up completely empty! Transitions back here for barn that’s been a little chilly lately. I have to rate her a medium longshot, until I see a lot more.
7 JUXTA COWGIRL Third start back off the layoff. Was speed-tightened in the second one, and I always love to see that. She also took a lot more money that night, signaling positive intent. I just hate the post here. Needs a big one.
8 ELLA CHRISTINA Barn’s “other” starter in here took ALL the money last time at Dover and endured a tough trip. That’s not her game. So, with a speedy barnmate inside, what should we expect tonight? I have no idea. Trainer: Has the back class, but has been battling tie-up issues all winter. Last time in this class at M1, romped to big win. But, I don’t think she can beat her stablemate.
9 NARCIAN JEWEL Second straight bad post and it will probably cost her again. I know it’s hard to do, but be patient and wait for the better post soon.
8 Eigth Race Entries

1 ZLATAN Gave it his usual very good try last week, but just ran into a killer. No fault there! Drew pole post now and that’s very key for him. Will try to steal it, but it won’t be easy. And, price won’t be all that big. Tough call.
2 MIKEY LIKES IT Mikey DID steal one last week, given slick drive by Corey. With that said, I think this step up might be too much. He will have to prove me wrong to repeat.
3 SHADY MCCOY Shady gets “let into the race” via earnings this year and last. But, it’s still a pretty tough spot! He usually does his best work at one level below this, so I’m going to be patient and wait for a better spot.
4 PAPPY GO GO I do believe Pappy has rounded back into better form now. He had NO chance in last two, due to the trips. This IS the spot we’ve been waiting for, but he will have to fight off #5. They’re both pretty classy. Your call?
5 DI OGGI Well, I bet against him two weeks ago on the class hike and he won with ease. Yes, things did work out perfectly for him that night. I do recognize that this field is a LOT tougher than that one. And, short price again.
6 MAYFAIR JOHNNY B Have to give Johnny a little respect here too! He was vicious on a few occasions here last year, and I remember that. BUT, can he possibly be ready tonight? I say no. I hope I don’t regret that.
7 BROADWAY PROMISE Still looking like a longshot to me, especially with the move outside. Slowly working way down class ladder and the right spot will come soon, but I don’t think this is it.
8 NOWS THE MOMENT For a brief, shining moment last week, he looked like a winner at 25-1! But, he went to running late and it cost him big time. Still, I think A Nap got along with him nicely. Tonight’s problem is the post again.
9 THISGUYISONFIRE Off for several weeks, so that raises red flags, but it’s also a third straight big class drop. The wakeup call has to be imminent. A Mac always dangerous on a price play like this.
10 ARRAKIS Squeezes in for the condition, but gets slammed with worst post and loses Dex. I think that’s ‘nuff said.
9 Ninth Race Entries
Picks: 1-2-4-9
H Horse Comment
1 YOU SHOULD BE HERE I have to admit, she raced pretty well last week despite an impossible trip. There’s no Rockin Praline in here and she moves all the way inside. Has rounded into top form nicely. And she likes the big track.
2 GIVEMEYOURHEART Ordinarily, this is the ideal spot to try the Heart. She always steps up her game when lowered in class to this level, but this is no easy bunch. Almost got lucky to beat better, but will offer far lower odds now.
3 WHISKERSONKITTENS Recent form is very dull, so I’m not ready to hop on board her boat just yet.
4 PARKIN IN HEAVEN She’s quietly rounded into pretty good form. Raced against bias on lead two back. Ran into Rockin Praline last time and was outkicked. I like the post relief here. She’s versatile. Have to give a good, long look.
5 BETTOR CHILL OUT Bouncing up and down the class ladder. I do think this field is too tough for her, but I recognize the right trip does give her longshot chance.
6 TALBOT CHANEL Not sure why, but she’s tailed off badly. That’s rare for one out of this camp, but they keep putting her right back in the box. One night soon, we’ll get the wakeup call, but we might have to guess when. Your call?
7 DUCK DUCK DRAGON Last time she raced at this level, it produced an 8-1 upset. So, what should we expect tonight? I don’t like the post. All the power is to the inside. She’s completely at mercy of pace and trip. Hoping for mayhem.
8 VELOCITY LANA Only one in for the tag here, but she also seems a little flat, and drew poorly again. Not my type.
9 STYLISH BEACHWHERE Have to just toss her last, after the slow start. Do note she’s slated for a driver change here, and that’s probably to wake up her speed. Don’t be surprised if she guns out of there. I won’t be.
10 ROSY OUTLOOK Second start back off a short layoff and simply put, she’s not ready yet. A pass from out here.
10 Tenth Race Entries

1 PRESIDENTE ZETTE The class drop propelled him to an improved effort and it was only second start back after the brief freshening. Don’t expect 28-1 this week, and Tyler is aboard for the reride. Post relief too! Interesting package.
2 JUSTCALLMERONALD It’s a brand new ballgame when you try to SET the pace on a price hike. Ran out of steam, and was haltered. A Nap know him now, but expect a stalking trip now, instead of pacesetting one. That can work.
3 BIZET Paid some instant dividends on the Mixed Sale buy first week of December They tried him on the half and that didn’t work out. Right back to where he belongs and he’s got big post edge on the other power. The one to beat.
4 LUCKY SHEILA Not sure what happened last time, but it was her first bad start in a long time. Since she’s right back in the box, let’s assume that everything is okay. Has plenty of speed to fire out with #3. Hoping to sit that great trip.
5 MAGIC N SPICE I guess we could say that he was buried twice at that upper level. Tonight begins the slide back down, but it’s no easy spot. Faces pressure if he tries to gun out. Not sure what the tactics will be here.
6 MUAY HANOVER Gets away from post 10, which will help. But, it seems like speed is his best weapon and there’s plenty of that directly inside. Gets the Captain back, which is a plus too! I still have to rate him a longshot.
7 MOSCONI HANOVER Took advantage of that very soft spot and wired them confidently. This is immense step back up in class, and a switch to an outer post. Both those factors make him a tough play tonight. Not for me.
8 FLY FLY SELENA It’s been a slow start to the year for this one. Finds his way back across the river and drew a poor post now. Yes, I can see the class drop, but I have trouble seeing him getting into the race from out here.
9 HAMMER TIME On a good, long, extended run of solid starts. Have to respect that. Overcame a similar outside post last time with flying finish. Got a needed week off. Can Vinny possibly get him close enough? That IS the question.
10 RUBBER DUCK The Duck’s presence in here only complicates the handicapping. After tailing off a bit, I feel he’s bounced back deceptively. Drops another tick, after a no chance trip, but it’s same post. Good luck figuring that out.
11 Eleventh Race Entries

1 ROCKAHOLIC Exits two straight disappointing efforts. Even broke last time, so that’s never good. The price drop worries me further. Really don’t know what to expect from this guy tonight. Needs a huge bounce back.
2 TWIN B TK Fresh face to the group, but off WAY too long. He can’t possibly be ready for this. And, the drop in price below the claim is a red flag. Have to watch one, to see if he belongs.
3 WALTZACROSSTHEWIRE I liked him last time and he wasn’t all that good, to be honest. I probably should give him one more chance, from the better post, but I’m certainly not in love with him. A tepid choice, especially if price short.
4 ADMIRAL Still not firing, and still a very tough play, until we see some sort of wakeup call. Pass.
5 ATOMIC REI This is the kind of race where this guy could sneak onto the ticket. The midpack post is perfect for his style. This race figures to have some action in it. He owns a decent kick at times. Only needs a trouble-free journey.
6 LET’S FOAL AROUND I guess they’ve had enough of shipping him to Dover. Aiming north up the Turnpike tonight. There is some back class lurking in this corner, so let’s take positive approach and use. Would love to see Pat gun!
7 JUST N BERLANDER Actually going fairly good right now. But, he’s compromised when he draws outside like this. Like #5, it’s ALL about pace and trip in here. A lively flow gives big chance to rally, and that’s what he does!
8 AMERICAN RAGE What do we do here? Got collared at 4-5 with no real excuses last week. Claimed out of that race and Yannick gets the reride. Speed coming, but will there be more mile track stamina? That IS the question.
9 ASHOK ACE Been giving some hints lately, but I’m not ready to try him from a post like this. A longshot.
10 BUCKEYE IN CHARGE I do wonder what Mr. Pollio is going to do tonight. Gunned his gelding last few. Now, it’s post 10. No matter what, his trip is likely to be difficult.

1 TWO HIP DIP I don’t know about you, folks, but I’ve had enough of the Dip for now. Especially after another of many, many miscues. Yes, I can see the drop, but I don’t care. IF he beats me, he beats me.
2 LUCRATIVE SON Completely different strategy last time and it didn’t work as well. Moves back inside tonight, so that changes things. He can easily step around #1, and then sit a trip. Patience will be the key to success here.
3 CHELSEES A WINNER Mare is one of many taking the dip to the bottom. I’m still rating her as a longshot.
4 O U SEXY GUY Pretty sure we’ve seen this guy before, but it seems like a long time ago. Just one lonely win over past two seasons, so I can’t be overly positive Will need to wake up and earn this one. Your call, folks.
5 SCREAMING CONWAY I guess we could say this guy is good right now! Hit board in three of last four, so that is a good thing. Took more betting action last time and still went okay, but not great. I’ll consider underneath only.
6 SWANCREDIT Once he hit a gear, he came flying home. Was that the sign we’ve been waiting for? Exits those claimers because he still fits this low condition. Can you say live longshot again? Absolutely.
7 CELEBRITY LOVER Liked him last time, and that trip was a little too much to overcome. He’s not really the best leaver in the world, but he does outclass many of these. It will be up to Tyler to get him a smoother journey. Will happen.
8 MONTALBANO BI I guess we knew it would happen eventually, but the Bi finally got lucky and stormed by a field like this. So, he’s still in for the tag. The post is a LOT tougher and we know he can only race one way. Lower odds too!
9 MIAMI We can all read the program, folks. It’s actually pretty simply. IF Miami trots, he will probably win! Went a ton faster in the qualifier than these can go. Of course, those gaps worry me, but I think they’ve finally figured him out.
10 BIG EXPENSE Moves from pole to post 10 and nothing ruins a race quite like that. Have to wait for better spot.

1 MASTER OF PUPPETS Used too hard last time and paid the price. Note the extra week off, which will probably help. The pole is interesting spot for him and I really like his chances in here. Just hoping the price will be worth the risk.
2 DANCING RUSTY Still not sharp and still a pass for me, until we see a major bounce back effort. Haven’t seen it yet.
3 MAGNUM MIKE Somebody’s got to be favored in here, and it will be either Mike or #4. This is the level where Mike belongs. He stays inside to keep him within range. He can grind and finish all day. Can he catch the Candidate? Trainer: Got caught behind a pulling “dead horse” last week and winner got jump on him. Inside post and the one to beat now.
4 IDEAL CANDIDATE You just have to love 13YO war horses! Shows up with honest effort every time. Has the pure early speed edge on Mike, but yes, it’s a step back UP to $10K level off the claim. That complicates things.
5 ROCK ON THE HILL Mitch had an option and chose this guy over #6. Both horses are probably better at the $7,500 level, but oh well. This Rock can do it either way, so I do wonder what Mitch will do. He just might send in this spot.
6 WESTERN REDHOT We probably don’t have to guess the strategy here. He’s best as a one-run closer. Loses his regular driver tonight, but that’s understandable. Hoping for a touch of mayhem with the faves. Will come charging.
7 SUPER S YZERMAN Finds his way back into claimers, but he really hasn’t been all that sharp lately. Not for me.
8 RATHER SWELL Also claimed last week. Used up in the pace battle and folded. I’m almost surprised to see him right back in box. I might have given him week off. The post stinks. Would need to get VERY lucky to pay some dividends.
9 MCCITO Here’s the wild card in the race! Why? Because he usually blasts out. That will make things very interesting into the first turn. Off three straight thirds, I’ll use underneath only.
