H Horse Comment
1 DOWNUNDERMATTER I have to admit, he’s been a little bit disappointing recently. Hasn’t been delivering his usual late kick. When I look at this field, I realize he’s not going to be a big price. But, he will need a big bounce back!
2 SCREAMING CONWAY I think we can make small case that he’s rounded back into a bit better form. Gets post relief after a solid rally and should be able to sit a bit closer. Won’t be 100-1 this week, but does have upset chance.
3 CON AIR HALL He wasn’t exactly trotting up a storm late last week either, but somebody’s got to win this race. The post relief has to help. Third time Lasix has to help. IF Andy can get him a trip, he wouldn’t be a shocker.
4 KNIGHTOFVICTORY It’s been a long time since he won a race, so I wouldn’t consider for that spot. I would think about including him underneath in some gimmicks. Will offer the right price to use on the ticket.
5 MISTRESS VALENTINE Not a whole lot going on for the 10YO mare here. She looks like a longshot again.
6 MOSCONI HANOVER Gets the extremely tepid vote at morning line favorite, simply because he’s dropping in class. This is almost a “now or never” spot for a big wakeup call. And no excuses accepted against this lackluster field.
7 HERE COMES NUMBERS Jenn sure put this guy in play last time. For a moment, it looked like she might steal away. Ran out of gas late, but it’s a lot better looking race than most of these. Tonight’s problem might be the post.
8 SHE’S INTOXICATING Was rolling along on the lead at Monti when she broke. That’s never good. Would be a tough play in this spot upon return to the big track with a very tough post. Not quite my type.
9 TOTAL DIVA That really wasn’t a bad qualifier, but I’m hesitant to try right off the bat. I’d like to see one first.
10 EYORE HANOVER Good luck trying to figure this guy out. And I do feel your pain, if you’ve been betting on him at those low prices. I don’t think he’ll be 2-1 here tonight, and he does get a new driver. Still a rough play out here.

H Horse Comment
1 JULERICA Debuts here off the layoff and a pair of less-than-stellar qualifiers. Have to watch one first.
2 SUNSET DREAMER Feel bad for these connections right now. Gelding has been sick and whatever else. One night soon, he’s going to bounce back and surprise us. Maybe it’s a spot like this, on the drop back to $10K level.
3 MAGNUM MIKE Likely to be favored here, after two straight solid tries. The slide back in a few posts makes a big difference too! Andy can do whatever he wants tonight and Mike likes to grind into it. The one to hold off late.
4 RATHER SWELL That was a huge try two weeks ago when returned to this level. Lands back in a similar spot and you could easily build a case that he’s returned to form. Likely to offer the better price vs. the favorite. It’s your call, folks.
5 DANCING RUSTY Rusty is another one that tends to jump up at times and surprise us. He’s bounced up and down the price ladder and that’s probably not good. Is he a real $10K claimer, or more like $7,500? We’ll find out.
6 ROCK ON THE HILL Doing good work down at Freehold and debuts for a new barn off the claim. He’s raced here before and I hate to ignore sharp horses. But, he does not have the post edge and would need very best to threaten.
7 ADMIRAL The Admiral maintains longshot status and would be a big surprise from way out here.
8 MCCITO Could be the key to the race, folks. Why? Because he does have speed. And, from second straight bad post, I have a feeling we’ll see more speed tonight. A Nap knows him now. He’ll be more aggressive tonight. Usable.
3 Third Race Entries
Picks: 4-6-1-2
H Horse Comment
1 DANCE TO FAME Not sure what happened upon arrival, because she was well bet. Let’s look for some equipment tinkering, or something like that. Hoping for more of that speed offered in Ohio. A bounce back mile?
1A MAX VOLO Doesn’t win all that often, so that’s strike one. Gets post 10, so that’s strike two. Eric did choose this one.
2 MIKEY LIKES IT Finds his way back to NJ and do note that he’s raced well here before. Takes that slight, but dangerous class drop and gets a good post, along with Corey back. All systems say go again. Can be used.
3 DEWEY HAVA WINNER It’s been a long time since this guy got close. I need to see more, before I could endorse.
4 PENNANT SEELSTER That was pretty big disappointment when he didn’t even make the gate last week. I hated that post, but it doesn’t matter when you break! Have to give him another chance. Was SO good on the first. Your call.
5 CHIEF JUSTICE Yannick gave him every chance again last week. Brushed easily. The pace was slow, because it was super windy, so maybe that’s an excuse. That step up from nw2 to nw3 is always a BIG one. Has to prove it again.
6 DOVER DONY Loved him last week, so it was a rare double-digit winner for me. And congrats to the connections! They’ve got a nice, young trotter here, that’s just coming into form. I think he can go with these too! Beat a bias.
7 LUCRATIVE SON It took a while, but barn finally figured this guy out. Yes, things did work out nicely in his favor, but he still trotted home willingly. That’s a confidence builder. And, if things set up for a closer again, he can repeat.
8 JUST JEWEL What on earth do we do with this one? One of two for Burke. Off more than a month. Yannick opted to this one, so that has me confused. Can he possibly be ready And, stuck in bad post with NO speed. Very tough call.
9 MASSAMILLION Had a fairly decent comebacker, and had he drawn a better post, I might consider as a longshot. However, from this spot, I’ll be taking a pass and waiting for a softer spot.
4 Fourth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 BUCKEYE IN CHARGE Well, it finally happened! The Buckeye won a race here! Snapping a three-year drought. So, let’s offer congrats to Team Pollio, and hope they bet a few bucks at 35-1. Can he repeat? Probably not, at lower odds.
2 REDLINE RUSTY It would be tough to make a strong case for success in current form. Not quite my type.
3 URBANITE HANOVER Didn’t offer a whole lot in first start off the claim down at Freehold. Quickly finds his way back here and he’s had success. So has barn. I’d look for a more aggressive try tonight on the drop back to price of claim.
4 SPORTS COWBOY Boy, it’s hard to like this horse. He just never wins! Drivers have been aggressive with him, putting him in play, but horse just can’t seal the deal. With that said, I would use underneath, but not on top.
5 IDEAL CANDIDATE Was super game here to win. Was game again with much tougher trip down at Freehold. Have to give him a big chance to win this, ideally positioned in midpack post. The Double D will have choice to make. Leave?
6 AMERICAN RAGE Have to respect sharp and consistent horses. This guy fits that bill. Every start down at Freehold a good one, but can he do it here, or is he just a small-track specialist? We’ll answer that question tonight. Low price too!
7 IDEAL ROMANCE To me, it definitely seems like he’s tailed off. And tonight, he gets stuck outside the main contenders. That’s not usually a recipe for success. Can’t drop any lower than this, so he needs big wakeup call.
8 IN YOUR EYE Hasn’t found any top gear here yet. Have to pass from yet another bad post drawn. Not good.
9 SOUTHWIND INDY Another Ohio invader to Club Med. This guy showed some speed at times, and he’s been driven by all the top guys out there. That says something! Let’s see if he invents that speed from the worst post.
5 Fifth Race Entries

1 P L LAYLA New barn hasn’t quite found the key to this mare yet, but the game’s not over. Sits in, saves ground and tries to find more late. At least she stays trotting. Some of the others in here can’t say that.
2 WANNA MAKE MONEY Well, if you wanna make money, hopefully you haven’t been betting on this guy! No wins last two years. But, like Lucrative Son, barn will figure him out eventually. Let’s see how handles the big track.
3 MONTALBANO BI Right now, the Bi is very frustrating. For everybody! The connections. Drivers. Bettors, etc. With the two favorites stuck way outside, that should benefit the Bi. If he can just stay out of trouble early, rallies.
4 ILLINIMIGHT It took a long time to find top gear last week, but eventually he did. It’s ALL about pace setup and trip for this guy right now. The Lasix is probably helping, but not enough to make me bet too much. Your call, folks.
5 BREAK FREE Found a touch better form in the pair of tries up at Monti. The starts here weren’t good, but he probably wasn’t ready yet. Relatively fresh, since he only raced 15 times last year. Let’s see if that form trend continues.
6 CELEBRITY LOVER Figured to “need” that last one, and he was trotting nicely at the end. That’s exactly what I was looking for. He doesn’t make breaks, so I like his chances a LOT better than some of these. Hoping for decent price.
7 IRON DOME Just not sure about the Dome right now. I’d need to see a good performance for new barn first.
8 SWANCREDIT The Swan moved to a new barn last time and did flash speed, but didn’t have much left late. Moves to much tougher post and I don’t see it working out tonight either. Faces lots of pressure if he guns.
9 JUSTCALLMERONALD Finally put it all together last week, given an aggressive drive from Dexter. Was claimed that night, so it looks like a sharp claim. Tonight’s test will come from the bad post. Up to Dex to get a trip again.
10 SWEET ROYALTY What do we do with this guy off the layoff? And post 10? Will that Saratoga qualifier have him ready enough to blast out and sustain the speed for the whole mile? I’m probably going to watch one. Trainer: Coming off an injury. Solid qualifier last week. Post 10 tough spot, and will probably need one start over the track.

1 FAMILY ROLL CALL Takes that key drop, and gets the post relief to go along with it. That’s a dangerous combo, not to mention the connections involved. I would have a very tough time leaving these two off the ticket here. Must use.
1A TALBOT CHANEL Makes her second start at this reduced level, but she is coming off a clunker two weeks ago. Might be the only horse out of the barn to race badly. Can she bounce back off that? Of course. But, wasn’t Yannick’s pick.
2 PLAIN OLD JANE Been suffering a case of the bad post blues! She gets a touch of class relief, but there are several other droppers in here. I’d want a decent price to even think about including her on the ticket. Maybe not yet.
3 ROSY OUTLOOK Got a little time off and probably deserved it. Captured her qualifier, but in typical slow, half-mile track time. I will note she won 11 times last year, so that’s good. Mixed feelings about her at this level. Must prove it.
4 SO LONG DARLING Should benefit from the typical “tour of the track” in the comebacker. She had plenty of pace in the qualifier, so it’s time to take a longer look here. Figures to be ready now and also figures to offer a price.
5 PARKIN IN HEAVEN Rolled along at a solid clip on the lead on a night when speed wasn’t really holding. So, I’ll give her a pass for that. Prior rallies were both okay. Back to closing mode here? I think so, in a midpack post. Needs setup.
6 STYLISH BEACHWHERE Was bet off the board last week, and it was her pari-mutuel partner that saved the day! I didn’t think this mare was overly sharp, but she had been off for weeks. Could easily bounce back with a lot more.
7 ROCKIN PRALINE On the comeback trail for Team Surick. She had an easy one from the outside post last week and gets stuck with the eight-hole now. So, that’s only slight improvement. Will it take one more? Or a softer spot? Maybe. Trainer: Needed first start back off qualifier and had post 10. Drew a little better and keeps Andy over three others.
8 YOU SHOULD BE HERE She finally put it ALL together last week, barreling past Parkin late. That was the absolute perfect trip and setup. She’s not exactly “rewarded” with this spot. I suspect she will have to gun out again.
9 VELOCITY LANA Had Lana drawn a better post, I might be able to make more of a case. Gaps between starts are always a concern. I’m probably going to want to watch one from out here and also wait for better spot next time.

1 BROADWAY PROMISE When you scratch out of a comeback start, it’s not usually a good thing. Maybe it was post 10? Regardless, he’s a tough play against a quality field like this. We have to wait for softer spot.
2 JUST FOR YOU Going really well right now! Can’t argue that. Gets a big break with the inside post draw too! The Dob guaranteed to force the action early and he could end up with a very nice, cozy trip. That would give huge chance. Trainer: Got a week off, after racing five weeks in a row. Seems at top of game, and if races like she has at M1, will be right there.
3 TWO AM You all know how much I like this horse. Especially when he drops and draws inside. Yes, I know Derf has been pretty good too, but I’m giving the edge to AM, based on experience and class. Still your call, folks.
4 PAPPY GO GO Getting a little harder to gauge right now, but Pappy does have his fans. If you just toss the last one, from impossible spot in Preferred, and concentrate on his HUGE try before that, you have big contender. At what price?
5 ARRAKIS He’s still going strong. And he did race well last week, with very good trot behind uncatchable winner. However this is another bump up and eventually it gets too high. I’d want fair value to use him on the ticket.
6 RESITA How good is this gelding right now? That IS the question, because this is double jump up the class ladder and very tough field for the level. I know they’re hot, but I might have to take a stand against this one tonight.
7 SHADY MCCOY Even though Shady raced great last week, I feel this is too high for him too! Ended up with a good trip in that mile last week and that might not happen from this slightly tougher post. A longshot, in my opinion.
8 DERF HANOVER Derf is the key to the race tonight. Because of his speed. His first try at the Preferred was actually a good one! Better than I expected. Drops back down a tick, but gets stuck with outer post. Battles it out with Two AM.
9 NOWS THE MOMENT What happened last week? Regressed into a break. He’ll get away last in here and nothing less than total mayhem up front will give him closing chance. Not likely.

1 GIVEMEYOURHEART Still forced to compete at this upper level. Do note that after tonight, she loses that win from Jan. 4 in her conditions. That means she might be eligible to drop next week. I’ll wait for that spot.
2 WHISKERSONKITTENS Finds her way back to Club Med and she’s done some damage here before. Obviously, her current form isn’t very strong and this isn’t enough of a class drop yet. I’ll also be patient with her and wait.
3 DUCK DUCK DRAGON Has found this level way too high. Another longshot start for the Duck tonight.
4 JUXTA COWGIRL Do note she’s the one “let in” via the elevated condition. That’s usually a positive indicator. That, plus this is second back off the layoff and I usually like that too! Can you say eligible longshot? I can. Use.
5 FANCY CREEK JOLENE I, and several others apparently, thought she would bounce back last week. Was sent off at 2-1, but could not catch the leaders. This race could have a much different look to it. It’s ALL about pace and trip here.
6 MILADY DENVER A Not exactly getting much love from the post gods lately. Hinted at a return to form with that solid speed second over at the Hilltop. That could be notice she’s ready to deliver a big one. Back to mile track.
7 COVEREDNDIAMONDS N Eight-time winner last year, so that catches my eye. She also had the one comebacker, but did make a break. Maybe that’s why Team Harmon tries her here? Either way, she’s classy enough to get involved.
8 NARCIAN JEWEL Basically got shuffled out last week and had no pop. Gets the one notch drop in class, but not the inside post to go along with it. Have a feeling she’ll be racing from behind tonight. Have to wait for better spot.
9 BELIEVE IN ME Easily the key to this race, having drawn the worst post. She can leave, as evidenced by her last try at similar level. Yes, she got beat that night, but it was a fluke. IF she clears easy, the rest may be chasing.

1 ARCH CREDIT Been firing out strongly from outside posts lately, so I wonder what Andy will do from this inside one? He might be able to save a little. Horse doesn’t win all that often, but he’s often close. Can be used here.
1A FINAL DREAM Woke up two weeks ago with a much improved rally. Was that a fluke, or is there more coming? Good question. Has a nice speed partner to aid the cause. If price is okay, this is an entry worth using on your tickets.
2 CASINO CUTIE IT Took a ton of money last week and was put in play early, but that trip really didn’t work out. Now, from the pole, with a speedster alongside, pilot will have early decisions to make. Seems overdue for a big one.
3 CAN’TCUTTHATCHIP Been waiting for the right spot for this homebred and this might be it. Drew well. Had a needed comeback start. There are no killers in here, in my opinion. I can easily take a positive view in this corner.
4 TWO HIP DIP Slides back down a notch, but will probably need the bigger slide to the bottom. The Dip is a tough play lot of times, because he never goes off long when in this class. If you choose to bet, I will simply wish you luck.
5 CHELSEES A WINNER That was nice drive by Vinny last week, being aggressive. Mare hit the board for first time in while. Interesting spot here with other speedsters inside. Not sure what the strategy will be tonight.
6 PRESIDENTE ZETTE Still looking like the big longshot at the moment. Will need another race or two for now.
7 ALASKA I do wonder what went wrong for this mare there for a while. She did bounce back big with solid try at Freehold, but she was 4-5 that day. This is NOT an easy spot for comebacker here. I’d want price to use in this spot.
8 ROCK OF CASHEL I have no idea what’s going on with this former classmaster, but I do know I would have a tough time taking a short price. Something definitely amiss lately, so be careful, especially if the price is short. Bad post too!
9 MUAY HANOVER His run of good trips kind of ran out last time. Now, his luck at the post draw has run out. Pass.

1 ABBEYLARA Here’s one of those cases where the charted line from last week does not really tell the “true story.” Abbey was perfectly positioned by Yannick. Began to gap, and then had just mild pace late. He wasn’t great. Tough call.
2 THE CATAMOUNT KID Had an impossible trip in the MLK pace a while back. Follow-up at Freehold was a tad erratic, but he finished okay. I like the post. I like chance to get a nice, ground-saving trip. Chance to hit ticket at big price.
3 ONE MORE MIRACLE We just haven’t seen any miracles from this horse lately. A longshot once again.
4 ASHOK ACE He’s quietly rounded into some decent form. That was another nice rally last time to hit board again. The price will start getting lower now, but he’s a very usable horse in gimmicks.
5 WALTZACROSSTHEWIRE Gets the tepid call as favorite, because he’s dropping the pricetag after some well-meant efforts. In this spot, Marcus will almost surely leave with him, and if allowed to control the pace, he’s the one to beat.
6 I’M SID THE KID Was just fair in the two starts here, both with decent trips. The Freehold race was just a throw-out from post eight. This is much better spot, but I’d still need to see a lot more before I could endorse.
7 WESTERN REDHOT Also dropping. And do note last time he was in for this tag, he won at 6-1. The trip was perfect that night, but you never know. Could get another one, if somebody softens up #5. Not out of the question.
8 JUST N BERLANDER He’s also good right now, but loses that inside post help. From this slot he’s totally at mercy of pace and trip and I might prefer a few of the others. The betting value seems gone too!
9 ARTISTIC CRUISER Stuck in terrible spot way out here, and looks like a big longshot anyway.
10 SPANISH ART Had ZERO excuse last week, other than it was cold and windy night. The more I think about it, the more I think he’s better as a stalker and rallier. Likely to get that wish from pp 10. Might offer better odds w/new driver.
11 Eleventh Race Entries

1 LIVE ODDS Her last try was a big step in the right direction, so that could be the hint we’ve been waiting for. Gets Marcus back, and the rail. Might be able to save a little more for late. Chance to hit the ticket.
2 ICOMMANDMYSPIRIT Makes second start at the reduced level and she was well-bet and well-meant last time. That was a few weeks ago, however. Wasn’t Andy’s choice in here, though. That’s a minor knock, even from good post.
3 SHEER TALENT Back from Freehold for another big track try. On occasion here in the past, she can do a little damage. The post is good, and gives her co-owner/driver some options. Pretty consistent overall. I can make a case here too!
4 PERSUASIVE HANOVER It’s been a long time since she won a race, so that’s a problem. Has finally worked her way back down to proper level. Not my pick, but I do know that a smooth trip gives her a small chance. Only at a price.
5 FOX VALLEY BAILEY Took a quick trip down the Turnpike and that didn’t work out. Finds her way back here and drew a nice, midpack post. I have a feeling The Mann will look at this field and know he has to leave. Expect aggressive try.
6 NORTHERN SOIREE Off a sick scratch, and some flat efforts, I’m going to take a pass on her for now.
7 KEYSTONE NIKKI Slowly working her way back into shape, now back from Ohio. Did go forward out of the gate last few, so that could be a hint of what’s to come. This race does have a lot of speed in it. I need to see a good one here.
8 BYE HANOVER I thought that she might need that race, after deceptively good qualifier, and she did! So, in this spot, it’s time to take a shot. Andy’s choice over #2 is the clincher. She HAS to get the jump on #9. Has more class too!
9 TEARFUL OF HAPPY Had a tougher trip in the first go for new barn off the claim. No problem. Tonight’s problem is the post. Yes, it’s a slight drop back down, but she’s meeting a few good ones too! Nothing less than best will do.
10 CHEAP THRILLS After a winning start, in which she was claimed, she got some time off. I wonder if that was by design, or a necessity? Are they easing her back before heading north? Could be the case. Plus, it’s post 10! Trainer: Recent claim. We like this mare, but post 10 is a tough spot to overcome.

1 CC BIG BOY SAM Sam is just going so good right now! Full credit for that. Tried something new last week and blasted. It almost worked out. If not for the perfect trip for Joe. Meets that foe again and seeks revenge.
2 SHOW ME UP Gets key and much needed post relief. That puts the Show back in play, but he’s in an interesting spot. Can he get around #1? And if not, can the trip work out from there? Both legitimate questions. Still, shot to hit ticket.
3 POP POP JOE How good is Joe right now? After the perfect trip and drive from Yannick, Joe is now a proven claimer at this level. Tell me he gets similar trip again, and I’ll tell you he can win again. It’s ALL about the trip. Short price.
4 CHEYENNE REIDER Also plenty capable at this level. Basically, he’s been good for months. One of these nights he’ll probably tail off a touch. From this spot, the strategy will probably be off the pace. Hoping they mix it up a little.
5 DALTON DID IT Dalton still not doing it here, so he’s still a longshot in my book. Not quite my type just yet.
6 FOUR STACES Here’s the question mark in the race. New barn changed some equipment (add knee spreader) and it worked to perfection to beat weaker. Now, he steps back up, moves outside AND loses Yannick. Telling choice?
7 OHIO LARRY Hot property at the claim box. Had to grind after Sam last week and that didn’t work out. Moves back to outer post to further complicate matters. This will be an Andy Mac “special” if he can get him a trip from this post.
8 MAY I CRUISE WEST Did really nice work twice from inside posts to pick up checks. That run of luck is over.

1 T BARRR Was merely keeping up at odds of 63-1 in last try here. Not much changes. Still a longshot, riding pylons.
2 LUCKY SHEILA Finally put it all together, given a perfect trip and drive from Pat Berry. Pat seems committed to #3, so that explains that choice. This is second time Lasix, but a big step up in class, in my opinion. These are much tougher.
3 BASTILLE After a pretty good run there for a while, his stamina level has subsided. Back to longshot status now.
4 ZLATAN Had a needed start last week and now drops, so is this the spot? I think so. I’ll hop on board with #8,10 stuck outside. This horse does his best work leaving the gate and I expect an aggressive try from Vinny here. A must use.
5 MARION GONDOLIER Still finding this level just a bit too much. The midpack post does give chance for a nice trip in the outer tier and that’s what he needs. I’ll still rate a longshot, but know that he might have chance to hit ticket.
6 MISS RUBY She’s also on the drop here, but wasn’t Vinny’s choice. I expected that. She’s a one-way closer, so also at mercy of pace and trip. Will need to get a little lucky to beat these, but stranger things have happened.
7 MAGIC N SPICE Flashed that same good speed two weeks ago on the class hike and lacked the same finishing kick. Hey, it happens when you hike up the ladder. There’s plenty of other speed in here. Same class. What’s the plan?
8 TRY TRY AGAIN I didn’t think he would be ready after missing a month. I was wrong! Coasted over the weaker field, but this bunch has a lot more talent. The repeat isn’t out of the question, but 5YO will need to earn it this time.
9 CASH FOR GOLD No punch from the outside post last week in same field. Guess what? Same spot, but back to the Dunn. Would need a LOT of luck to get into the game from this difficult starting slot. I just don’t see it.
10 TAG UP AND GO Loved this guy in his last two, and I’m willing to give excuse for the bitter cold and wind on the lead last Friday. Tonight’s problem is obviously the post! And, there’s ton of other speed in here. A real test to overcome this.
