1 TEAGAN HANOVER That really wasn’t a bad start for a first lifetime race. Good step in the right direction. No mistakes. Let’s see if she gets any faster this evening. It’ll be cold, so just staying trotting will be a good thing too!
1A ERIN ISLE Flashed a touch of better early speed and then sat in front of her partner. Kept up, which is a good thing, and like her stablemate, stayed trotting! Tonight’s problem will be the tougher post. Still need to see a bit more.
2 AB’S ROYAL PUNKIN No idea when she went to running last week. Too bad, because she was just getting good. Take a look for any further equipment tinkering, and then take a good, long look out on the track. No mistakes!
3 TRIXAR After a tardy start, this colt finished up with a bit of trot. Lucas listed Yannick tonight, but didn’t get him. Still, that’s a sign of positive intent. I’m not a fan of slow starts, but that will come with more experience. Chance at a price.
4 P L LOUIGI Mr. Eaton spent $18,000 at the Mixed Sale to bring this guy home. That’s not bad for a horse that just broke maiden. Horse also seems like a slow starter, but new connections might help. Let’s take a good, long look.
5 CHIEF JUSTICE Gets the very tepid call as morning line favorite, due to the connection. But, that first try here was a big disappointment. I would expect a whole slew of changes here, but don’t risk too much, at too short of a price.
6 BOLD GODDESS Up from Freehold with some slowish type form. I guess I’d need to see a good one here first.
7 ALVISI HANOVER Regressed into a miscue last time, and that came from the rail. This is an outside post now, but a slightly lesser bunch. It’ll be Andy’s job just to keep the gelding trotting here. He’s done good work for this barn.
8 DOVER TONY Interesting newcomer recently acquired by new connections. They tried him once at Yonkers and that was a very tough trip. I can forgive that. This is first real test from an outside post. Good test for pilot in this spot too!

H Horse Comment
1 ARRAKIS Where on earth did that rally come from last week? Horse looked way too far back, stuck in bad spot and still came charging home. Have to credit barn for turning this guy around in a big way. Takes the double jump back up.
2 MISSLAROSE How can you not love this mare? She tries hard and she loves to dig in and fight. That was superb comebacker, after missing time and you don’t see that too often. She meets a few new shooter here, but always game.
3 PAPPY GO GO MIA for a few weeks, after a rare clunker. Came up empty despite a cover trip last time, so that does leave us with some question marks. Obviously, he just wasn’t right that night. Congrats to barn, just over $10 mill career.
4 THISGUYISONFIRE The start here really wasn’t bad, but he wasn’t a true threat to the likes of Trolley and Muscle Diamond. Either of those foes would be 1-5 in here. Forget about the YR race. He is a 10-time winner. Consider.
5 COASTAL REGION Tough to get a real read on his form right now. After a couple of half mile track miscues, they tried the hopples down at Freehold. Would have preferred to see that qualifier here. Very tough spot tonight too!
6 CASH ME OUT That first try here was outstanding, with a huge kick. Followed it up with okay effort, in same race as #4. This bunch isn’t quite that strong. But, can he stick a little closer? Won’t be easy to sweep the whole field.
7 NOWS THE MOMENT Might be the key to the race, folks. When last seen here, he was absolutely dazzling! Showed a bit more early speed at Yonkers and then had tough grind. Gets outside post here. Will he leave? I wish I knew.
3 Third Race Entries
Picks: 7-2-1-6
H Horse Comment
1 HAMMER TIME Awfully sharp right now for Mr. Landy. That was a pretty solid grind into an uncatchable 1-5 shot last time. Might be facing similar situation with #7, but the rail is a bonus. Vinny can “protect” and stay a little closer.
2 BIG EXPENSE Last start here was strictly a “maintenance” race that he needed. In past, he’s shown serious talent both here, and on other size tracks. Just a good horse. In this spot, he will be better, but will it be enough to threaten #7?
3 FASHION WINNER Like #2, he had to need that last one, but after watching it, I feel he might need a few more.
4 AUTEUR HANOVER Still stuck in this tough class, making his second start off the layoff. I also felt he might require another start, or a class drop before we see the wakeup call. I’m willing to wait.
5 TWO HIP DIP Always drives us handicappers a little crazy, but oh well! The Dip did stay trotting last time, but failed to deliver his usual burst of speed. That’s not good. So, I have NO idea what to expect tonight. Your call, folks.
6 MAGIC N SPICE I “hinted” that he might be more aggressive last time, and I wish I’d followed my own advice. Right to the front in second try here after acclimating mile, and he romped with something left. First win here for driv/trainer!
7 RESITA Pete Kleinhans loved this guy last week, despite the layoff, and boy was he right! Absolutely jogged! Takes that one notch jump, but is meeting no killers here. IF he trots, he will win. Probably as simple as that.
4 Fourth Race Entries
Picks: 4-5-3-2
H Horse Comment
1 ROLLING SEA Launched that big move again last time and flattened out badly again. One of these nights, he’s going to sustain that move, or time it just right and surprise us. A few did bet on him last week, sent off at only 7-1.
2 SPORTS COWBOY Knocking on the door, folks! But, please do keep in mind that he rarely wins. Only one time all of last year. With that said, I’d prefer to use him underneath in the gimmicks, but probably not on top. Consider that.
3 IDEAL ROMANCE After a good run a month or so ago, it seems like this 10YO has tailed off a bit. With respect, he’s also been stuck in some real tough pace battles. It might be time to give him an easy one. He can bounce back.
4 MAGNUM MIKE Added Lasix last time and bounced back with a pretty big rally. We all know Mike is capable and I love the way barn is “dangling” him on the price drop here. I would have a tough time playing against. Short price.
5 I’M SID THE KID That was a pretty darn good try last week, considering post 10. Good step in the right direction and if you were seeking a live longshot, this could be it. Ideal post to stalk the leaders. I wouldn’t be shocked. Trainer: Finally hit the board after many failed attempts. He’s all about the trips.
6 ARTISTIC CRUISER Had a sneaky-good kind of kick last time. That showed me he can handle the mile track. Looks like a one-way closer, though, so totally at mercy of pace and trip. There are a few of those that fit that profile.
7 LINDYTHEFOURTEENTH Another one dropping a tick here, and that’s usually a good thing. You have to race them where they can do! Barn having very good meet, making a lot of the right moves. Problem here might be the post.
8 BUCKEYE IN CHARGE I’m not usually in love with this guy when he draws outside. I will pass in this spot.
9 COLONIAL ROAD Looked like a “brand new horse” in that brush and crush down at Freehold. Wow! And, they got 19-1! However, as I’ve said before, if you didn’t go to the wedding, don’t go you know where. Tougher spot here.
10 ROCCO I can’t expect him to overcome post 10 here on the mile track. I’d be shocked if he did.
5 Fifth Race Entries
Picks: 1-2-8-4

1 TAG UP AND GO Quickly racing himself back into shape, folks. Tonight might even be the night to bet! That was good, prolonged bid last time and he never stopped coming. Note the post relief. Could sit right behind #2.
2 IN SECRET Classy trotter here that’s made over $600,000. Had a superb comeback qualifier that had him wrapped up finishing strong. The little time off probably did him a lot of good. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he wired these.
3 ROCK OF CASHEL Broke at Freehold as the fave. Turned in what I would call a clunker here last week as the fave. No idea why not sharp, but he’s right back in box. IF price is short again, I’m tempted to go against. Your call, folks.
4 MARION GONDOLIER He’s pretty good right now! And, for a while last week, it looked like A Nap might have stolen one. Just got collared late, but it was nice try. Might change tactics, with #2 in here. Interesting to see what happens.
5 POSSESSED FASHION After a tough-luck, front-end loss on the fourth, he hit the shelves for more than three weeks. Why? It does raise a red flag or two, so be careful. His best is good enough to threaten, but is he primed, ready here? Trainer: Usually races well fresh, but this is a tough spot.
6 RUBBER DUCK No, I have no idea what’s going on with the Duck right now. After that last effort, I would have put him on the steward’s list. But, he’s right back in, and I have no idea what to expect. Good luck guessing. Trainer: Tied up pretty bad his last start and I feel this race came up pretty tough.
7 HOT SUMMER KNIGHT The Knight and outside posts don’t usually get along. Rallied by a few belatedly last time, and I think it might be the same here. He is very likely to get away last. That’s not going to work.
8 OPULENT YANKEE Getting a little bit harder to predict. Andy actually had him in a great spot last week and gelding was pretty flat late. That’s not a good sign. From this post, Andy will have to send him to have any chance. Not easy.
6 Sixth Race Entries
Picks: 3-4-1-2
H Horse Comment
1 BETTOR CHILL OUT Found the waters a little deeper when hiked up to this level. But, she was aggressively handled that night. Draws a much better post and pilot might be able to save something. She does have good history here.
2 TEARFUL OF HAPPY I thought she might be vulnerable and not ready last week after missing time. Boy, was I wrong! Won like a champ, but did get claimed. Debuts for new barn here, on the big hike up. She will need very best.
3 TALBOT CHANEL Mixed feelings about her current form, but I recognize the class drop. Barn has kicked right back into gear and this is the spot they’ve waited for with this lass. Gets Yannick back,, and very hard to go against.
4 THE SPINSTER N She’s been as “live” as can be over the past few starts, but just hasn’t gotten lucky. Tries a new pilot here and is also dropping in class. If you think #3 might not be primed, this is your likely next best. She has speed.
5 PERSUASIVE HANOVER Also dipping back down, but she might need the bottom level. This isn’t that just yet.
6 YOU SHOULD BE HERE A Nap had this lass in the perfect spot last week, and she clearly lacked the kick. Starting to make me think she lacks mile track stamina. If anything, this is a tougher spot than that. I have to go against now.
7 PLAIN OLD JANE Been a little bit overmatched of late. Yes, this is a slight drop, but its also a bad post and a loss of Yannick. That’s not exactly a recipe for success around here. Looks like a longshot to me again.
8 OUR ELS DREAM N Another that will have to wait for the drop to bottom level again. I will pass from way out here.
9 VELOCITY LANA The gaps between races always concern me. She “had” to need that last one here, after missing a month. Tonight’s problem is the post. With all the power on the inside, she’s up against it. Has to leave a little.
10 BIG LIS Steamrolled that lesser field with an incredible effort. Caught me by surprise, but I recognize that she’s meeting a completely different field here, and gets slammed with post 10. Would need even more to beat these.
7 Seventh Race Entries
Picks: 3-1-8-2
H Horse Comment
1 GONNA FLY One of several in here dropping a bit in class. This horse did win seven times last year. Gets a new driver tonight. Lands the pole position. The right trip would give him an upset chance.
2 FLY ON It’s getting harder and harder to figure this guy out. Was forced up the class ladder last time and delivered a bit of a clunker. Yes, he’s dropping back down and moving inside, but he would need a big wakeup call. Hard to predict.
3 TWO AM This has got to be the right spot, right? After a couple of tough posts against better, he finally gets the drop and the post relief. That’s a potent combo, especially for these connections. I would have a tough time going against.
4 SIGNAL HILL Second start off the layoff here and I don’t think he’s quite ready yet. Wait a little longer on this one.
5 CASH FOR GOLD Had every chance to win last week, and simply could not get by a game foe in Shady. Still, not a bad effort. Tonight, the problem is the class hike. This is higher than he’s been in a long time. Have to go against.
6 SHADY MCCOY Speaking of Shady, here he is on the second straight class hike. We’re getting to a level where he usually has issues. Moves back out a few slots and that complicates matter. He won’t be the favorite tonight.
7 DEO Tough to get a real read on where he belongs here on the mile track. Those were not easy spots down at Freehold, but this isn’t easy either! Drew outside many of the main foes. I think he’s up against it from this slot.
8 DERF HANOVER After ripping through much easier spots, The Derf finally gets a real test! Is he as good as #3? Legitimate question. Corey fits him very well, but this is also toughest post to date. He’ll leave, but needs big mile.
9 MISS RUBY She’s bounced up and down the class ladder for a while now. I give credit for consistency! But, her run of good races might be over due to this post. Not sure how she’s going to get into it from way out here.
8 Eigth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 BETTIM JACKIE Looks like a purchase for the Burke Brigade here, and they excel in that category. However, they have two in here and I don’t think this lass will be quite ready for this after missing time. But, Yannick did choose this one.
1A FAMILY ROLL CALL Burke has two in, and Yannick opted for the other. This lass was also perfectly placed last time and got outkicked for the money. I don’t see huge price coming, and I see tougher test from outside post.
2 LYNBAR ROSE N Looked like an absolute monster after the first two romps here in North America. Then, she had MUCH tougher trip when used hard against much better. This is first mile track try, but a softer spot. Takes advantage?
3 JANUARY A Makes her North American debut tonight. Barn elected to qualify her at Monti, and not here. That worries me a bit, because I think she will need a race just to acclimate to mile track speed. I’m willing to wait. Trainer: Nice filly that just loves to finish.
4 CHILLIN IT DE VIE Did some of the early dirty work last week, before letting her betting partner go. Had a couple traffic issues late, but not enough. Draws midpack post here and can definitely be part of this. At a nice price too!
5 DUCK DUCK DRAGON Taking huge hike up in class here. Barn going well, but these look too tough for her.
6 GIVEMEYOURHEART As stated many times with this lass, she wins on class drops. Not eligible for that yet. Pass.
7 FOLLOWTHEWIND N Also had some brief traffic issues last week, but was outfinished when clear. That was from the rail, and this is now post seven. She can leave, but I just don’t see it in this spot. Demand fair value if you fancy.
8 PARKIN IN HEAVIN Figured to improve in her second local appearance, and boy did things set up nicely for her! However, watching her finish against weaker, I feel she may be stacked in just a tad too tough with these. Your call?
9 STORMTRACKER Here’s the key to the race! And maybe not in a good way. After that good roll about a month ago, she’s tailed off a bit. But, she gets the class drop, but not the post relief. Not sure what to expect. If good, has chance.
9 Ninth Race Entries
Picks: 6-2-1-8
H Horse Comment
1 LENNY MAC Usually, the drop along with the post relief is a very potent angle! However, there are several other droppers in here and Corey opted for #9. So, that gives me mixed feelings for this one. Still due for a wakeup call.
2 STITCH IN TIME Wasn’t really all that good last week. And I thought that was a decent spot for him. I’ll add a point or two if Resita won tonight, which he should. Could step right around #1 and be threat to go all the way. Very usable.
3 WINDSUN MISSILE Not sure what happened out there last week, but somehow this guy ended up out wide. Just toss that. He’s also dropping a touch, and has shown speed before. Don’t be shocked if he tries to leave again.
4 CAN DO Tried the grinding move when lowered to this level and still couldn’t get the job done. I guess I’ve had enough of the excuses for this fella, so I’m off the bandwagon. We haven’t seen his A-1 effort in a long time.
5 KNIGHTOFVICTORY With the right kind of journey, he can pick up a piece. That’s his game, but that’s about it.
6 EYORE HANOVER Appeared to be sailing along comfortably when finally geared up by A Nap and then went to running! I see broken equipment on the charted line. What was it? IF A Nap can gear him up again, watch out.
7 TOO MUCH HANOVER Did win here last year, so that’s a plus. Qualified here to get used to mile track times again. Is he ready to pop and win at a price? I say not yet, but I’ve been wrong before.
8 DULUTH I’m always wary of this horse, because he can wake up at times and deliver a good one. I’ll say that it usually comes from a better post than this, however. I like the drop, but will wait for slightly softer spot and better post.
9 PINGALING I guess whatever was wrong, they have figured out! Two romping rallies on the half down at Freehold, so it’s time to ship him up here and give a mile track chance. Corey’s choice and we’ll see if fast enough. I have doubts. Trainer: I think this horse has really turned it around. Excited to see him back on the mile track, but post nine is a bit challenging.
10 MISTRESS VALENTINE Moves from pole to post 10 and that ruins her chances. Not for me, from out here.
10 Tenth Race Entries
Picks: 3-4-6-2
H Horse Comment
1 ASHOK ACE Set a pretty wild early pace last week, forcing the issue, and then paid the price late. Back to Carlson tonight and I imagine a different strategy. The King of the Longshots will simply sit, save ground, try to get lucky.
2 JUST N BERLANDER Wow, what a nice, patient steer from Kyle on this guy last week. Darted through traffic and came flying up the inside to post the huge upset. Congrats! But, for bettors, much lesser value coming tonight.
3 SPANISH ART The outer post probably cost him last week. Got roughed up and took a few bad steps turn one. Note that barn keeps him in for the same tag and now the post is better. Makes all the difference in world. The one to beat.
4 ABBEYLARA Not sure what’s going on here. After that nice roll a month ago, it seems this guy has tailed off. Looked a little flat from the back off cover last week. Right back in, and also gets better post. Maybe that will help. Follows #3?
5 ONE MORE MIRACLE I’m not ready to reach into the well to try this guy on mile track yet. He lacked much kick upon arrival and would need a whole lot more to threaten. Hard to predict those types of improvement.
6 IDEAL CANDIDATE He’s been a bit of a mystery horse lately too! Tough to gauge current form. Some speed. Some flat races. Drew outside the favorites again, so that’s a problem. This might be the right spot to send again. Maybe. Trainer: Has been getting used hard and hasn’t had an easy trip since I moved him up. So, he goes back down to where he can dominate.
7 ABOUT THE BENJAMINS He still looks like a longshot to me, especially moving back outside. I will pass.
8 BEACH BLAST His two recent Med races aren’t exactly eye-openers. Also moving back out to tough post. I would have a hard time making strong case for success in this spot.
9 MODERN YANKEE Came flying home to just miss last time he raced for this tag. But, when you’re the only one that drops in for $10K, you get stuck with the outside post. That’s a real handicap in spot like this. Needs to get lucky.
11 Eleventh Race Entries

1 IRON DOME A pretty surprising claim, considering all the break’s he’s made. But, new barn will give it a go, and they get nice post to start from. Trying new driver as well. Let’s see if he improves at all.
2 BELL A CHICK Well, the Chick did stay trotting last time, but was no serious threat. Since the price never seems to be all that big, I just go against. If he beats me, he beats me.
3 ZETTE STARLING Added Lasix last time and it did not produce a sterling improvement. One of these nights, the mare is just going to have to show more trot, and I need to see it to believe it. Haven’t seen it yet.
4 P L LAYLA Purchased for just $12,000 at the Mixed Sale two weeks ago. Looks like she had a better 2YO year, than sophomore season. At least we know she can handle the bigger size track. Anxious to see what we get here. Trainer: Has a nice trot! Now, I just need to see if she has the speed.
5 SWANCREDIT Makes his first start for a new barn after a disappointing effort with the hopples on. Note they come off here, so he’s a big question mark. I would need to see a good, flat mile again before I could endorse.
6 CANT U SPELL Real mixed feelings about this guy too! After an erratic, but good effort two back, he came back with less-than-stellar try. That’s inconsistency. Hard to predict what we’ll get tonight, but I do see new driver listed.
7 HERE COMES NUMBERS Back down from Monti for another big track try. Flashed speed and faded last time here. Will we get that speed again? Because there aren’t many “leavers” to the inside. Must find more stamina, however.
8 MONTALBANO BI The Bi kicked home nicely again last week, just to leave us wondering again. There’s no Photo King in here, but post is bad again. Totally at mercy of pace and trip, that is IF he decides to trot tonight. No way to know
9 SORTIE HANOVER Gets the very tepid call as morning line favorite in this impossible race to handicap. He’s also coming off a miscue, but looked live last time at Yonkers. He is dropping, however. Switches to Yannick too! Positive.
10 WICKED NICK Gets slammed with second straight terrible post and that pretty much ruins his chances. I will pass.
12 Twelfth Race Entries

1 BELIEVE IN ME No, I still cannot believe that she got caught last week. Oh well! After missing in that easier spot, she’s forced to take a double jump UP the class ladder. This is infinitely tougher, so I have to prefer others for tonight.
2 IDEAL LIFESTYLE A Had an awesome qualifier and so far, barn has won with everything they’ve brought here. This mare gets NO easy spot to debut in, however. Is she really as good as #6,7? I guess we’re going to find out.
3 NARCIAN JEWEL Give full credit to The Mann for keeping this gutsy lass alive last week. Poked her head in front of the big fave right at the wire. I still can’t believe it, but so be it. Now, she’s also forced way up. This is too tough.
4 SEASWIFT JOY N Had two very good qualifiers as well! Chased #2 last week, but was doing it willingly. My knock for her tonight might be the slowish starts. In a field like this, you can’t give up too much ground. She might need one too!
5 JEWELS FORREAL Cost $$85,000 at the Mixed Sale two weeks ago. Yes, that much! Her qualifier a few weeks ago was very good, but she does have some things to prove here. Has to “unlearn” that seconditis too! Your call, folks.
6 PENPAL Finally put it all together again two weeks ago to visit the winner’s circle again. After speaking to Pat L. at the sale, plans are to breed her to Captaintreacherous. That will be soon. Plus, she loses Corey tonight. Tougher spot.
7 DIVA’S IMAGE IF you were watching that race closely last week, you saw just how well she finished in final yards. That serves as the perfect “prep” for this. Now, she’s in only against mares, but must do it from outside post. CC’s choice! Trainer: Couldn’t have been happier with her last week. She was out of her harness! Against straight mares tonight. I think the barn queen is going to be pretty tough.

1 PENNANT SEELSTER Was “bought back” out of the Mixed Sale. That means his connections didn’t think the price was high enough to let him go. ($19,000) After watching first try here, I agree. Gets inside post again and is very usable.
2 CARTIER ZETTE Tough to get a real read on current form, with all those gaps between starts. That win was okay, but it came against a lesser field. Draws well, so he could be close enough to deliver a punch. A maybe in here.
3 BIZET He brought a nice price at the sale! Figured to, after that solid run of races here. Gannon and Gingras have teamed up with many a good trotter, folks! And Yannick took a piece! That’s huge sign of confidence. One to beat.
4 BROADWAY SISSY Took two months off to freshen up. I always like to see that. Came back with okay qualifier, but in slow time on that windy night. It left me feeling that she might need a race or two. I’m going with that.
5 BABY I’M WORTH IT Was in a good spot a few weeks ago, but lacked her usual kick. That gap between then and now always worries me. I like the post, but not the potential pace scenario for a closer. Will need just the right trip.
6 MAX VOLO Another that’s a little hard to gauge right now. After a series of good efforts, I have to consider that last one a clunker. Just tired, and for no visible reason. Would need a big bounce back mile to get close again.
7 DEWEY HAVA WINNER Also coming off a flat performance where he tired off some live cover. That’s not good. He’s got no speed and will get away towards back of pack. Without a pace meltdown, it’s not going to work
8 LUCKY SHEILA Gave it a VERY good try against a well-meant winner last week. She’s got super solid speed, which always puts her in play and we get a new driver tonight. He’ll have her fired up. Chance to finally win one here.
9 GRAMMY WINNER Barn gave this mare a little time off, after back-to-back breaks. That will probably do her some good. They don’t ever “rush” any of them back, so let’s expect her to need this. Especially from the bad post.
10 REAL WORLD GOAL Had this guy drawn a better post, I’d be a lot more interested. However, early speed could be lacking. I did like to see the improved first start for new barn. I will wait for a softer spot, in better post. Trainer: Don’t know what he is yet. First start was a decent one. Watched him race at Plainridge and he went some decent miles. Don’t know why he did poorly at the Meadows.
