H Horse Comment
1 THISBEACHRGHTHEREA One of two in here for Team Harmon and Rob drives this one. Looks like he worked his way back into shape in those two tougher spots at Pocono. Might be a lot “readier” for this assignment. Watch out!
2 MAY I CRUISE WEST Finds his way back to Club Med again, but retains longshot status in current dull form.
3 SO TAKE THAT Had several really nice efforts here earlier this year and gets a crafty pilot aboard from a good post. Lags early, so it’s all about pace and trip. If it’s a hot one, this guy will come flying. What will the price be?
4 SETTLEMOIR Hasn’t been firing his best bullets of late, so let’s take a pass and watch one here.
5 CHEYENNE REIDER Another with plenty of history here, and some of it very good. Draws the ideal midpack post to give TJ some options. Usually best with one move, but can leave at times. Offers a nice price option, if you like.
6 BETTOR SPIRITS N Lots of mixed form from up at the Spa. How that translates here is a good question. I’m going to take the negative approach for now and see if he belongs. Has to prove it first.
7 PRETTY BOY SWAG Finds his way to NJ all the way from Iowa! He’s been here on the east coast before. I like the speed I see from recent races. That will put him in play, IF Matt Z wants to race that way. Wouldn’t be a shocker.
8 VILLAGE JACKSON 11YO warhorse is back, but not in good form. Have to rate him a longshot tonight.
9 DA MAGICIAN Shows a winning effort from Fraser Downs in 51 and change! By all rights, any repeat of that should crush these, right? But, it is post nine, after a cross-country ship. Team Silva will have to have him ready for this.
10 JUST N BERLANDER Had he not drawn the dreaded post 10, I’d probably like a lot more! This is really bad spot for him, since his best races come from off the pace. Will have to hope for some mayhem up front to sweep the pack.

H Horse Comment
1 BUNGALOW BILL N Barn ships several in this weekend and many of them are in good spots! I’m not a fan of the sick scratch, but it was post eight? This is the perfect spot for a speed horse and Vallee will be protecting the pole.
2 OHIO LARRY Scoots his way up the Turnpike back to the big track and he knows his way around here. That’s five wins he owns this season and many good starts here. IF #1 isn’t sharp, then Larry is the play! Your call, folks.
3 BECKYS DREAMBOAT Tough to get a real handle on Becky’s current form. I will note that July 20 start here, where he upset the applecart at 13-1 with Vic aboard In line for that kind of trip again. A real maybe, but price will be right.
4 I WILL DO IT Homebred here has been moved to Eric A’s barn and mare produced an improved effort right away. Will need a slightly softer journey, but probably fits this field perfectly. Expect another good try at decent odds.
5 THE MIGHTY MARNER Seems to be having trouble with turns, so Harris brings him to the mile. It’s hard to predict total turnarounds, but that’s what this guy will need. It can happen, but get a good price if you think it’s coming.
6 MISTER ACCUMLULATOR Just 1-22 this year, but sometimes sneaks onto the ticket. Seems like a one-way closer, so totally at mercy of both pace and trip. Will need somebody to soften up the inside favorites.
7 REFLEXIONOFROYALTY Down from New York to take a big track try. I see some speed here, but it’ll be a long way to the lead from this post if pilot blasts. Also has to prove he’s got some mile track stamina. I need to see one first.
8 WALKS OF LIFE Been battling it out willingly down at Freehold. We all know he likes to win and will fight. Has good history here, but the post stinks. I do expect him to fire out, however. That will make pace scenario interesting.
9 SUTTON SEELSTER MIA too long and not exactly in great form. I think we can leave him out for tonight.
10 THE SAINT I’m guessing he faced lesser there up at Vernon, and he won’t be helped by post 10. Wait for later.
3 Third Race Entries
Picks: 10-8-6-1
H Horse Comment
1 ALL IT TAKES A tad inconsistent of late, but he’s been that way before. Has faced better along the way, so this does look like a much softer spot. Mr. Tetrick back aboard will attract betting attention. Is he worth a short price?
2 MR CARROTTS That was a bit of a wakeup call in last race. Could be hint he’s ready to return to form? Went some pretty big trips here earlier this year, so I’m not too quick to toss. Price should be okay. Consider using from good post.
3 TIE YOUR SHOE ED Seems to do his best work down the Turnpike at Freehold, so I will rate Ed as a longshot.
4 ASHLEY’S HUSBAND Like #2, he comes off a much-improved effort. I always pay attention when this barn brings one here. This gelding will still have to step up his game a lot to repeat, but A Mac takes the call. Very interesting.
5 JOE JOE JOE Joe cubed is hard to gauge right now. I’m probably going to take a pass in current form. Not tonight.
6 SMILEANDSAYCHEESE We’ve seen the Cheese unleash some furious rallies here earlier this year. By all rights, this looks like a soft spot for him too! Don’t be shocked if horse is on go! Expect it, especially if the pace is hot.
7 IN ROCK WE TRUST Yes, he’s pulled off the odd upset here too! Current form just isn’t very good, but he’s always a LOT better on the big track. Will need the right kind of trip and you can’t bank on that. Let’s see more please.
8 ROCKINWITHTHEBEST Appears to be rounding back into better form. Like #7, I believe Rockin is MUCH better here on the mile track. Vinny has driven him well in the past. I expect to see some speed from out here. He likes to grind.
9 STEVE SAID Yes, I can see the new barn here, but I’d be hard-pressed to expect a total turnaround. Tetrick was listed, and opted to #1, so maybe this Steve isn’t quite primed and ready yet? We’ll find out.
10 MIDNIGHT LIGHTNING Now what do we do with this guy? Steamrolled to a strong, 14-1 upset win on Tuesday at Yonkers and gets in here as “eligible at time of entry.” It’s still a bad post, but also a drop off a win. Have to use!
4 Fourth Race Entries
Picks: 6-7-1-9
H Horse Comment
1 SOMETHINGINTHEWIND Having a nice comeback year at age 10 and enters off two solid tries. There aren’t many confirmed killers in here, so he’s got to have a shot from the pole. Will be stalking up close in a good spot. Usable.
2 DAYLYN HORIZON Back to the scene of some of his greatest triumphs. Usually wins at a price too! Always needs exactly that right kind of trip, though. Demand fair value, if you think this race sets up for a one-run closer.
3 IDEAL SON I did pretty well betting against this guy all year, so I’m not going to change my tune. He’s almost always overbet and underachieving. Likely the same in this situation. Not for me.
4 GAIUS CRASTINUS Scoots up the Turnpike with three straight, uninspiring thirds. Another one-move type that would need everything to go his way. You can never count on that.
5 TITUS SEELSTER Not really sure what to make of his form right now. Barn tends to get the most of them, and this guy isn’t fitting the bill right now. I do see who gets the call, however. Lately, Dexter can wake up anything.
6 CC BIG BOY SAM Here’s a good, live price play! Sam will definitely appreciate the return to the big track. Picks up Joe B with Corey not here. That month off will probably help, and don’t worry about slow qualifier. He’ll be ready tonight.
7 ONE TOUGH NUT Seems like barn has turned this Nut around! Won two of his last three for high-percentage trainer. A Mac knows the horse, but will have to get a decent trip on him. That tough trip two back did him in. Your call?
8 MATEO Only one win each of the last two seasons. That, plus the bad post make him a longshot again.
9 SIR BRADFORD Had he drawn a better post, I could probably make more of a case. Best recent race came with Tetrick in the bike, but IF he starts slow, how far back will he be? That’s a good question when you land the nine hole.
10 JACK RACKHAM One of the four that are in for $10K tags, so they get stuck outside. Also doesn’t win very often, so I’ll probably take a pass on Jack for tonight.
5 Fifth Race Entries
Picks: 2-1-3-4
H Horse Comment
1 FINAL JUSTICE Mr. Husted has made his way back from the Midwest. He put a nice steer on this guy from post eight last week at Philly. So, don’t expect that 85-1 price tonight! Moves inside and will be stalking. Hits the ticket?
2 THESPYWHOLOVEDME Had a VERY good qualifier here to get ready for tonight. Finished up full of pace and definitely gets a soft spot vs. these. Hall of Famer Dave Miller in the bike, so all systems say go. Hop on board!
3 MCCITO Veteran has been well-traveled of late, and he keeps picking up checks. Has always seemed to race well here and no reason not to expect the same. Drew good post to stalk, or gun. That will be up to Andy.
4 LUCK N ROLL K Earned his first win of the year last time down at Rosecroft. The “lightbulb on” angle! Gets a nice post to start from and picks up Tetrick too! I wouldn’t talk you off him, trying for the repeat tonight.
5 THE DARK SHADOW Set a pretty slow pace in that qualifier and basically got run over late. That kind of tells me that he’s not ready to produce a top effort. Will have to prove me wrong.
6 MAJOR MARCUS I’m not a fan of the short rest thing, and that race down at Philly wasn’t very good. I’ll pass.
7 HEARTLAND REVENUE Back to the Big M with an 0-13 slate so far this year. Seems like he’s slowly racing back into shape, but it might take another race or two before he gets mile-track tight. I’ll wait.
8 IMAGEOFAROCKER Parked out last time at Yonkers, so don’t hold that against him. Seems very unlikely that The Mann will try that again from this post. Have to wait for a slightly softer spot and better post. Just 1-32 this year.
9 SHIM No idea what happened at Philly last time. And overall form is a bit sluggish. Not a play for me in this slot.
10 PROPHET BLUE CHIP Moves from pole to post 10 and nothing hurts more than that. Had he drawn better, I could make a better case. Figures to need a lot of luck to get close late.
6 Sixth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 TYMAL PEACEMAKER The word was out on this guy last time at Philly! Pounded down to 2-1 and delivered the goods from off the pace. Even though it’s technically a class drop, he might actually be facing a better bunch.
2 GRIFFON HANOVER Just does not seem to be sharp right now, so he looks like a pass in this spot.
3 AFLAME HANOVER Not an easy spot for a 3YO, but he’s got plenty of talent! That win at the Meadows last month was superb! And Andy Mac sticks, over #5,8,9. That’s a big call! Would be hard to leave off the ticket completely.
4 MCCLINCHIE N Usually, I like this guy when he sneaks across the river for a Med try, but I’m sure Mr. Vallee was anticipating a softer spot than this. Some real good horses in here. Clinch could be overmatched.
5 JK WILDFIRE Been bouncing up and down the class ladder for months. He does happen to like this surface, but comes off two straight losses as big fave. Won’t be favored here! But, also must note that A Mac chose #3.
6 REBEL ROUSER I think we all remember some of his standout performances here earlier this year. I certainly do! This horse was amazing! I think he will very much appreciate the return to East Rutherford. The one to beat in my book!
7 SICILY He’s pulled a few upsets here before, so keep that in mind. Doesn’t usually fire out of the gate, however. Stuck outside and in a rough spot. Will need a few things to do his way to have a sweeping chance.
8 OCEAN COLONY Got real good there for a while up to Hambo Day. Barn gave him some time off after that and he surely needed that first start back over at Pocono. Wasn’t A Mac’s pick, but will definitely race better here. Expect it.
9 AMERICANPRIMETIME Love this hard-knocking veteran! I think he was just voted Horse of the Meet at Tioga! Always tries hard, but this looks like way too tough a spot for him. Let’s wait for a better spot later on.
7 Seventh Race Entries
Picks: 4-6-7-1
H Horse Comment
1 CHIP WALTHER Those are some tough customers he was facing up at Plainridge, so this is definitely some class relief. Had Tetrick opted here, I probably would have liked a lot better. He chose #7. That’s a very telling call.
2 QUALITY CLOSER Been doing some good work lately up at Monti and I’ll just toss that last race due to the bad post. He did have some solid efforts here earlier this year too! I can make a case that he might pick up a check tonight.
3 EVER AGAIN Another that will probably appreciate returning to the mile track. He went some dazzling trips here and could easily do so again. But, it is a step up, after a couple weeks off. Not 100% sure he’s primed and ready yet.
4 STORMONT CZAR A Seems to be on the comeback trail again. Couple starts against better over at Pocono and now a slight drop here. This is hard-knocking veteran that just might be sitting on a bigger mile tonight. Price okay too!
5 HOW ARE YEE JOHN Coming off a perfect trip win up at Tioga a few weeks ago. Not a fan of that missed time, OR the hike up in class. Has a lot to prove here and I need to see it first.
6 ROCKATHON One of the many possibilities in this wide open race. He’s steadily worked his way down the class ladder and gets yet another drop tonight. It’s wakeup call time, folks! Switches to Andy Mac too! Lots to like here.
7 BARIMAH A Tetrick’s choice was probably a tough one, and he knows both horses. This 9YO usually appreciates class drops like this one. I guess I’m expecting a return to form here, counting on his back class. No price, though!
8 KARPATHIAN KID One of a few in here entering off a win vs. lesser. This is huge bump up in class, and he did not get lucky at the post draw. I’m probably swinging against, until he finds a softer spot.
9 ITS JUST TOO MUCH Same boat as #8, but this looks like a much tougher spot, plus a bad post again. Not for me.
10 BANK SEA Tetrick was listed and opted to #7. I understand that. The Bank loves Club Med and he gets a slight drop. I’m just hoping post 10 will ruin chances tonight, and he gets a softer spot and better post next week.
8 Eigth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 OUR MAX PHACTOR N This is a pretty good horse, that is surprisingly on a losing skid at moment. He couldn’t possibly have found a tougher spot here. At least he’s got the rail to try and keep up along the way.
2 BALLERAT BOOMERANG Also seems to be in a little “steep” with these. Surick attempting to win a race with a Thoroughbred this afternoon, and then a Standardbred tonight! It’s a longshot, but you never know!
3 MIKE’S Z TAM Seeks a third straight win for Pat, but will be much harder-pressed against this group. This is just shy of an Invite level bunch. Mike will need his very best to try and pull it off. I’m not sure he can.
4 SWEET ROCK Yes, we all still remember his pylon-skimming burst to win in 1:48.1. A big upset, but real sizzler. Been doing good work over at Pocono and seems primed for a big effort here. I certainly wouldn’t talk you off him.
5 WEONA SIZZLER A Seems to like that slightly lower class level, so this is a stretch for him. But, full credit to connections on a real nice horse here! He likes to win, that’s for sure. Still, I have to rate him a price vs. these.
6 GEEZ JOE I actually liked him last week at The Red Mile and things did not set up for him. We all know how well he raced here earlier and I expect him to be fully cranked and ready tonight. Hoping to pull a small upset of Joe.
7 DEALT A WINNER We all know his resume too! He seems to be hitting a good stride right now! Lost that tough photo to Joe two back and they will duke it out again. Maybe the only knock is the post? Will have to gun out.
8 WESTERN JOE Joe is now a gelding and I think it’s made a big difference. He gets “assigned” the outside post, and in a field like this, I think it’s going to hurt. Scotty Z back in the sulky seat and will have to get him a trip. Low price?
9 Ninth Race Entries
Picks: 6-1-5-8
H Horse Comment
1 ROCK THE NITE Finally gets a break from the post gods, but I will advise caution here at a potential short price. Got beat as the chalk last time he raced this level. Tetrick chose him over #5, but I’m not pronouncing him a lock just yet.
2 HEAVENLY SOUND It’s been a long season for this guy, without much luck going his way. Decent rally from impossible spot last time, but forced UP in class here. I’m not so sure that’s going to work out well.
3 ELECTRIC WESTERN A touch hard to gauge his current form at moment. Yes, this is a drop and he sure needs it! We’ve seen wakeup calls from him before, but I’d had a tough time betting the ranch tonight. Your call, folks?
4 BIG BAD BILL That was a real nice way to close out the Tioga meet! Solid, rallying win. But, that did come against lesser, and he’s missed a couple weeks since. Are these too tough? I think so, but we’re going to find out.
5 NASCAR SEELSTER We’ve all seen his act here. In reality, he’s just 2-29 on the season, AND Tetrick chose off. That’s not good. Comes off two straight good tries, however. So, I have very mixed feelings. Will use, but not key.
6 POKERFACE BLUECHIP Rick Still scoots up the Turnpike from Delaware with a new one! That’s a very good-looking qualifier down at Rosecroft, and he’s not coming for just a visit. He thinks this horse can do here! I’ll go with that.
7 ROCK N BLUE A couple good recent efforts, but wasn’t A Mac’s choice in here. Isn’t going to be mine either.
8 SADIQ HANOVER Took a ton of money in some earlier tries here. Seems to be in very mixed form right now, but he is getting a class drop as Andy Mac’s pick. That’s a sign of confidence. Needs a big trip from out here. Tough call.
9 DASH OF DANGER Simply put, we’re going to wait on a better spot for Dash. This post looks like a killer.
10 MY DELIGHT Also suffering a case of the bad post blues! It continues tonight. Did show speed that one time, but then flattened late. Don’t really know what to expect here.
10 Tenth Race Entries
Picks: 6-5-7-1
H Horse Comment
1 CHANGE STRIDE N Endured a really tough trip at Yonkers on Tuesday. By now, you’ll know how the barn has done with its shippers this weekend. The class relief is key and SV did list Yannick, who’s not here tonight. Figures very live!
2 PRIMO GIOVANNI I really don’t know what to make of that qualifier. Made a big move and then kind of lost focus. It’s dangerous to ignore this outfit, but I want to see a good one first, before I invest. Will be watching closely.
3 AWESOMENESS Still battling away at this lower level and recent form is rather confusing. I’m not going to be a fan of him tonight, and will probably wait for an even softer spot.
4 B WELL Set a very hot pace on the class hike down at Freehold and simply got tired. Yes, this is somewhat softer company, but he’ll have to finish a whole lot better to hang on here. Demand fair value, if you think he can.
5 CONSTNTLYSIDEWYS A Another one that’s always hard to handicap. He never really gives the same effort twice. Have to believe he’s sufficiently speed-tightened after that last race at Pocono. He can win, IF he comes up sharp.
6 FRANCO TOTEM N Won a lot of races down under, and that’s always a good thing. Had the easy qualifier off the bench, and then had a very good race to get started. I guess it’s just a matter of being close enough to launch.
7 ROCK LIGHTS He’s a player in here too! Dispatched that softer group, like he was supposed to. So, begins the ascent back up the class ladder, but I think he can handle it. Especially with Timmy back in the bike. Don’t leave out.
8 JK PARLAY Overall, he’s been a very good acquisition for Eric A. Always fights hard when he’s in the right spot. Is this the right spot on the hike up in class? That is the question, and I don’t like the post. Maybe we’ll wait for a drop.
9 SHATTERED GLASS Not enough form on view to make me want to like him out of post nine. Pass.
10 NO EASY DAY Yes, that’s two straight losses as heavy fave. That’s never good. Stablemate to Jug winner Southwind Ozzi might need to learn some lessons from him! Also switches out to worst post. I’m going against.
11 Eleventh Race Entries

1 HARAMBE DEO A 4YO vs 3YO’s. Interesting transition to this class level. Barn has only had him for a short while, so I do see more coming one night soon. Is tonight the night? I have no idea. We all have to guess.
2 TWIN B JAYS Been working his way up the class ladder in Pennsy. Not bad. I probably want to see one here on the big track, but he took his mark last year on a big track. Barn usually has them in right spot. Might offer a price too!
3 VIRGIN STORM Well-traveled of late, but just picking up checks. Would need big step forward to upset these.
4 CHASER HANOVER Found the transition to this kind of level a tad too much. Also needs a bigger kick to get closer.
5 CAPTAIN CASH One of two here for the Alagna Armada. Wasn’t Andy Mac’s choice and that’s a concern. This Captain is having a much better 3YO season, so I can’t be too quick to toss out. Packs decent speed. Things to like.
6 RESPECT OUR FLAG Went some unbelievably big trips here over the course of the season. A legitimate stakes-quality horse too! I think he will love this drop in class and is very much the one to beat tonight. Expect a big one!
7 CAVIART ROCKLAND They thought enough of him to put him in the Jug. Was hurt by the interference early. Basically rode the pylons last week in Lex, but finished okay in a very fast mile. Figures to give the Flag a real tussle.
8 BETTER THAN SOME No excuse last time over at Yonkers and clearly in a MUCH tougher spot here. Needs a lot more to stretch out on the big track and of course, the post won’t help.
9 NO ORDINARY MAN Only two wins this year, and I can’t say I love this spot. The post stinks too! Not my play.
10 MAJOR DECEPTION Probably one of the keys to the race! He HAS to leave to have any chance, and that could increase the pace scenario. He’s just been buried over his head, so must take advantage of some softer company.
12 Twelfth Race Entries
Picks: 3-2-4-7
H Horse Comment
1 PREPPY ART Hasn’t won in just about forever, so he’s a tough use, even from the pole. Not my type.
2 SOHO LEVIATHAN A Another Vallee shipper on short rest, but let’s give credit for the gutsy win against better on Tuesday. So, he’s “eligible at time of entry” here and that’s a strong angle. No killers in here, so he might repeat.
3 TARAMAKAUREACTOR N IF you want to take a stand against the favorite, you could go in this direction. I know he’s just 1-21, but he’s got several good races here in the past. Good post to stay close. Let’s hope he stays onstride tonight.
4 MASTER OF PUPPETS Also has some good history here. He’s best as a one-move rallier, but this is ideal post for him. With the right setup, Tyler could have him rolling late. Don’t be shocked if he sweeps them all.
5 ANDWIN HANOVER Just 1-29 this year. This race is full of one-for’s! Somebody’s got to win, right? Recent form isn’t exactly outstanding, so I will probably be swinging against.
6 ROCK THREE TIMES Hit the board a couple of times recently, but that’s about as good as he can do. Longshot now.
7 MAKE IT BIG It’s been a long time since he won, but at least that win came here. Have to think this is a slightly softer spot than those claimers. Owns no speed, so he’s totally at mercy of pace and trip. Needs both to go his way.
8 SPONDULICKS N Now in Eric A’s barn, so hopefully we’ll see some improvement soon. I’m not expecting it tonight, but will be watching closely for something more.
9 HURRIKANE KINGKONG A huge round of condolences for Team McDermott, after they lost sire Hurrikane Kingcole this week. Horrible news. This one is still on the comeback trail and switches out to bad post. That won’t help.
10 MISTER TRUTH Off the layoff. Post 10. On Lasix, but he’s going to need this for sure.
13 Thirteenth Race Entries

1 REVRAC HARBOUR Amateur owner/driver Tony C got a nice win up at Vernon with this guy. Unfortunately, this is a much stronger bunch he’s facing tonight. I guess I’d be surprised if he repeated here.
2 HOUSE HUBBY Interesting call by A Mac to take this guy over #10. I thought he would go the other way. Horse is just 1-28 on the year, so that’s not good. Maybe the Mac will wake him up some?
3 ARRAKIS Not really one of my favorites, due to his overall inconsistency. But, with that said, he does own a win here this year. Looked short in that qualifier, so I don’t think he’s fully ready for this. I’m willing to wait.
4 SHADY MCCOY By all rights, if the real Shady shows up tonight, shouldn’t he just crush these? Meeting a field full of question marks, but I guess he’s one too? Last line isn’t very good, but he’ll show up with more tonight. Best!
5 ASHES CASH Very inconsistent performer here as well. Not my kind of play, so he is a longshot tonight.
6 TAKE A WISH We all know her game. She waits at the back for the flow and then kicks in belatedly. Sometimes things set up for her, but I really don’t see that tonight. Needs that hot pace to rally into.
7 YOOPER Off a break, and a sick scratch, so the Yooper is a pass for me tonight.
8 BROADWAY SISSY Gets third straight bad post, which never helps. At least she’s dropping a few ticks in class. Aside from Shady, there are no other killers in here. Can Tyler get her into the game in time? That is the question.
9 DEKEYSER Here’s the other guy in here with some decent back class. With the closing of Tioga, he went back to Fanning barn and had a nice “prep” down at Freehold. Packs plenty of speed to fire out. The one to fear?
10 MUSCLE HIGH A fresh face in from the Meadows and into a new barn. I have a feeling he will be okay eventually, but I’m not going to bite for tonight. Will be watching closely for future evaluation.
