1 THIS IS MY SONG Had a start down at Freehold and it was a good one! Not all of the Burke returnees have that start under their belt. See how his horses performed last night, to get a gauge on tonight’s entrants. Not sure what expect.
2 ALL ABOUT RUSTY Gave it a very good try last week despite a difficult journey. That shows that he’s back in good form and the inside post is key. Would be hard to leave off the ticket totally with this spot. Grinds into it.
3 SUDDENLY SAM Goes for a new barn here, on the ship up from Dover. Form down there simply wasn’t very good, so a big turnaround will be needed. Those are hard to predict. Let’s see how he performs for different trainer.
4 MAJOR WAR Been off way too long, and wasn’t sharp prior to the missed time. He looks like a pass in here.
5 ROCK STAR Gets that key class relief after being speed-tightened. That’s always a combo I pay attention to! I don’t see any killers in here, so it’s probably time to snap that losing skid. Class drops will do that a lot.
6 CRUISERWILLWIN Here’s the other one dropping in here, but when I look at that overall record last year, it doesn’t sway me. I will use underneath in the gimmicks, but not in the top spot. If he beats me, he beats me. So be it.
7 SWORD OF THE SPIRIT Has some history here, but it feels like a long time ago. Also lacking in the overall win department, so I have to prefer others. The outer post won’t help the cause either. Looks like a longshot.
8 FRANKANDJOANNE We’ll give him a pass for the scratch last week, due to the terrible weather. But, that last try here wasn’t all that great. Gets an even tougher post and seems up against it. I guess I’d be surprised if he won this.
9 MR HEAVEN It will take The Mann a while to figure this fella out. Let’s watch for any improvement soon. Lasix added.
10 NOBLES FINESSE He finally went a little more forward last week, so maybe that’s the hint he’s ready to return to form? We all know that when sharp, he could crush these. I think I’ll wait for a slightly better post, however.

H Horse Comment
1 REBEL ROUSER Has proven to be a pretty good horse here so far, toying with lesser. But now, the real test comes! He hasn’t faced a talent like Larry Karr just yet. With Yannick committed there, Eric C gets a return call. Steps up again?
2 LETJIMMYTAKEOVER Nothing wrong with Jimmy’s last kick home! Ran into a buzzsaw there in Monty and now meets a few others that have extreme talent. Would need another huge kick to rally by and pull the big upset.
3 ANNIHILATION Also gave a big favorite a real scare last week. It was a solid, step-up kind of mile for this guy. He loses Dunn again, but I do like what I saw. Still a medium longshot against a very strong field. Needs very best.
4 ARCH HANOVER Billy D put this guy in a very good spot last week and the horse was game! Moves back to a midpack post here, so I’m anxious to see what the strategy will be. Fires out just inside Larry? Maybe.
5 LARRY KARR It took a huge mile by the Bad Dude to somehow get by him last month. If anything, after several very fast miles, he earned a little time off. Somehow gets into this race, but it’s a strong field. He will need his best to win.
6 SURFING TIDE Was taken out of the mixed sale last Monday and that’s too bad. He probably would have brought a big price. So, connections keep on racing him. After the scratch, I’m a bit leery. Was super solid here a month ago.
7 JUMPING JAKE Two scratches sandwiched around a bad effort. That makes him a pass vs. super field like this.
8 ART DANCER Dex had a few options in here and took this fella over #2,3. Horse only made 10 starts last year, so that’s a slight issue. Came back with decent qualifier, but I do feel he might need one more. I’ll watch tonight.
9 WISE IMAGE Can’t say a bad thing about this guy! Every start a solid one and his speed has gotten stronger. This race is no picnic, however and this post stinks again. He has to gun out and hope for position. Usable, but needs a trip too! Trainer: Should be okay in there. Was a rough trip in his last.
10 FOX VALLEY HIJINX Gets the worst of it, post-wise and he just seems up against it from way out here. Longshot.
3 Third Race Entries
Picks: 2-5-9-7
H Horse Comment
1 DANCING RUSTY Was unfortunately wiped out in the MLK race last week, so don’t hold that against him. Note that he’s “bumped up” in price here. That’s usually a positive indicator! No easy spot, but he’s got good upset chance.
2 MASTER OF PUPPETS Whereas #1 is hiking up the pricetag, this guy is dropping! Usually seems to do his best at these lower levels and I’m expecting a big try here. Speed tightened last week to set him up for this. Must use.
3 ABOUT THE BENJAMINS Had a little trouble when moved up to this $10K level. Not worried about the scratch last week, as barn chose not to ship in that weather. Can’t blame for that. I’ll rate as a longshot, needing to see more.
4 BEACH BLAST Didn’t show much in that one try here last month, but that was for different barn. Seems to have regained a little form since up at Monti. This is aiming high, with the switch back to big track, but he gets Corey!
5 MCCITO Gets the very tepid call as morning line fave, in an absolutely wide open race. This horse has never been one of my favorites, but I recognize he can get the job done at times. Gets Yannick back too! Mixed feelings tonight.
6 ROCKAHOLIC Also getting a touch of price relief here, but I do wonder if it’s enough? Just one lonely win all of last year. Wasn’t Dex’s pick. I think I’ve got more negatives than positives. I’ll let him beat me, if he can.
7 IDEAL CANDIDATE This was Dunn’s choice of three. Used pretty hard in that pace battle last week, so let’s not be too hard on him. He’s always been better from just off the pace. Will probably get that kind of trip tonight. Bounces back?
8 MODERN YANKEE Almost got lucky two weeks ago! Came storming home to just miss. Yannick drove that night, yet opted for #5 in here, so that has to tell us something. And I hate the post. Totally at mercy of pace and trip.
9 OHIO LARRY This guy is not without a chance here! I know the post stinks, but he’s got plenty of speed to beat the gate. It’s the stamina that can be a bit suspect at times. Can’t be used too hard early, or he does get tired.
10 LINDYTHEFOURTEENTH Improved last time, but not exactly “rewarded” with this post. Have to pass out here.
4 Fourth Race Entries

1 SPORTS VISION Drops right back to the proper level here, folks. Had tough trip two back. Was just overmatched last week. I still remember a couple of those steamroll efforts. That’s what he will need to get by #8,9. Your call?
2 SUNSET DREAMER Slated for second time Lasix here, after that sick scratch last week. A little hard to gauge his true form right now, but he has beaten a better field than this. Got perfect trip that night and will need another one here.
3 MAY I CRUISE WEST Did a fairly good job of saving ground last time and it earned him a board spot! That’s a good thing. I still think he’s a bit overmatched with these, and he drew a few slots out. Will need a touch of luck again.
4 SPAGHETTI EDDIE I congratulate you if you picked and bet on Eddie with those two wins. Nice price both times! Last week, Eric C got away with soft pace and had enough left to hold on. That will NOT happen again. Gets caught here.
5 SHOW ME UP Paid instant dividends for his new trainer last week. A solid and heady drive by Mitch too! The 12YO is a true war horse that loves to fight. He’s going to show speed again and only needs similar journey to have a chance.
6 CC BIG BOY SAM Sam is going pretty well right now, but he’s had zero luck in the trip department. Eventually, they catch up to you. This switch to outer post will insure an off the pace effort. Let’s see how he is off cover.
7 RATHER SWELL Was unable to duplicate that explosive burst of two weeks ago. Hey, it happens. Might not have liked the off track either. By that time of night, it was very deep. Still in for $12.5. Let’s see what we get tonight. Not sure.
8 FOUR STACES Perhaps the sharpest horse in the race right now. Came up just shy of catching Eddie last week while that slop was getting sticky. I wouldn’t expect that again. I know the post hurts a little, but he will grind into it.
9 CHEYENNE REIDER It seems like this horse has been solid for months, right? Gives a good account every time he steps on the track. It also seems like he gets a bad post each week too! Almost not fair. Follows #8? Maybe.
5 Fifth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 PAPRIKE BLUE CHIP I kind of feel bad if you took 3-5 on this guy over a half mile track. I don’t see him as a reliable horse on the half and sure enough, he broke. Back to Club Med now where he had okay start. Sneaky longshot?
2 VALRHONA A little more than a month off, and a sub-par comeback qualifier. He’s not ready for this yet.
3 SI SEMALU Another that didn’t ship here last week. Can’t blame them for that. After a decent bounce back kind of effort, he’s forced back up the class ladder. I don’t think he’s good enough to beat these. Sits in for a piece?
4 WILLIE BOOTS Willie jumps up with a good one every now and then, just to keep us honest. His first two back off the layoff saw him buried. This spot is a LOT more like it. I suspect he’ll step up with one of his good miles here. Usable.
5 JACKSRLUCKYTOO As stated many times before, the time to bet Jack is on the class drop like this. Gets the perfect post for his style of racing too! Seems like Marcus is his new driver now and he chose Jack over #8. A must bet! Trainer: Jack is better in the lower conditions. He has lost a step or two.
6 K-LEES SHAKENBAKE No idea what’s gone wrong with this horse right now. But, after the month off, and several straight poor efforts, he’s a pass in here. Can’t endorse until we see some sort of wakeup call. I have to see it first.
7 QUALITY BUD Bud has mystified us this year too! The guy that gets along with him best is back in the sulky seat, but I need to see an improved effort before I can like. IF Eric sends him, then you know he feels good about it. Tough call.
8 SO TAKE THAT Moves out a few slots tonight and that always hurts this guy. He’s a one-way closer that is totally at mercy of pace and trip. I don’t see it working out for him here, but you never know. If the faves mix it up, maybe.
9 PRINCE CLYDE Has also been off way too long, so this is clearly a maintenance race to get back into shape.
10 CENTURY CHURCHILL Has not been good for a long time. I’d be very surprised if he woke back up and beat these from the 10-hole.
6 Sixth Race Entries
Picks: 7-4-5-1
H Horse Comment
1 RUFO Seems like he’s been a little buried lately at this level. Might need that last additional drop to the bottom before we see a wakeup call. I’m willing to wait for that spot. Likely to sit in, save ground and try to pick up a check.
2 BRIGHT FUTURE Been giving out hints about a return to form, but is now forced up the class ladder. Nothing derails a form spree like that! I guess I’d be surprised if he was good enough to go with these. A longshot.
3 MR CARROTTS Loses his regular driver, because he has to steer his own. Inconsistent might be the best word to describe his form, but it also seems like he needs exactly the right kind of trip. Can’t rely on that. Tough call.
4 ROUGH ODDS Figured to be a short price last week, and did deliver the goods! Horse has rounded into form nicely, so he now steps back up. Meets a couple of sharp foes here, so this will be no cakewalk, but he can win again.
5 BIG STRETCH MARK Gave #4 all he could handle last week. Second straight solid start for Stretch! Draws the ideal post for his versatile style and I’m sure he’ll deliver a good one again. Would be very hard to leave off ticket.
6 VICTORYDAZE WILWIN It was just a matter of time before he caught the right field and enjoyed the right trip. It all set for Daze last week. Now, he double bumps up the class ladder and this will probably be too tough. Your call?
7 DEPENDLEBURY A Came up just a bit short in his North American debut for Team Berry. But, it was solid acclimating mile. Horse should improve with more experience here. Tonight’s problem is probably the post. Might need to leave.
8 SOFER Still looking like a longshot to me. Especially from bad post like this. Needs an easier spot.
9 SPICEBOMB What a sterling rally from Spice last week! Ate up the ground like his old self. With that said, he’s now stuck with tougher post, bumped way up in class and he loses his regular driver. Not a good combo for betting.
10 MR CENSI Also seems like a longshot from a brutal post with no early speed on view. I will pass.
7 Seventh Race Entries
Picks: 4-6-8-7
H Horse Comment
1 DIVAS IMAGE The Golden Girls winner from last summer came back with a pretty good qualifier. I’m sure she will benefit from the time off, but she starts back in impossible spot. This will be a maintenance race for her. Trainer: Diva is our queen! Great qualifier, but against the boys in her first start back. She does LOVE the mile track!
2 ENOCH Basically just went around the track in that lackluster qualifier, but I’m sure they got what they needed out of it. Before the layoff, horse was absolutely super! I don’t think he’s a true “Preferred” horse, but you never know.
3 ROCK THE NITE Corey sure had this guy in a good spot last week, but horse came up a bit short. It’s the top level like this that separates the pretenders from the contenders. Will have to find a bit more zip to stay competitive.
4 BAGS TO RICHES Hard to look any better on paper than this! And this barn never ships here without the goods. Last win came against Robbie Burns, who found the waters here too deep. I’m anxious to see if he’s good enough!
5 RUN ONEOVER N After a brief layoff, he came back sharp for barn over at Yonkers. Doug D sees fit to try him here on the mile and we’ll see if he’s a fit. Lots of questions to answer in this race. Will have to prove it vs. very good field.
6 TUXEDO BAY It took an absolute monster mile from #8 to get by this guy two weeks ago. It was HUGE speed try from this fella and I didn’t see that coming. Has garnered a little respect for that, but faces another tough task here.
7 K RYAN BLUE CHIP Can’t really take anything away from this guy right now! Bounced back with flying finish, reverting back to the “closing strategy.” BUT, what will happen tonight? Will he be a touch too far back again?
8 CONSTNTLYSIDEWYS A Just when you thought this guy might be a little vulnerable from the rail, he uncorked a wicked steamrolling surge to win again. Now, that came from the rail. This is post eight. What’s going to happen early?

1 MACH DEJA VU By now, we should all know how the Burke horses have fared this weekend. This guy hasn’t raced since Dec 16, and had a gap before that. Could he possibly be tight enough to threaten? I’m going to say no.
2 IN A SINGLE BOUND Also showing the gaps between races. I’m wondering if they just want to keep him tight with a start every now and then. To win here, he’ll probably need some class relief. Will be watching for anything extra.
3 WHEN YOU DANCE That wasn’t a bad try upon arrival here. Set him up for the Mixed Sale last Monday. Stephane Bouchard bought him for $62,000. Horse is lightly-raced, so could be good for a long time. Let’s see how he goes.
4 ODDS ON LAUDERDALE Can’t really fault him in any way right now. Just couldn’t get past a very game and well-meant Castle Flight last week, but fought hard all the way. Short price coming again. Only needs bit of an easier trip.
5 REDONKULOUS Was almost unlucky to lose last week. Came flying home from a tough spot. Gets a better post here, but also forced up in class. I just don’t know if he’s a real fit with a talented group like this. I guess we’ll find out.
6 IDEAL JIMMY Brushed and crushed last week, reporting home smartly to a very popular victory for the bettors. Like #5, he’s forced up the class ladder here and will have to prove himself again. I wonder what the plan is from this post?
7 THEREISAPACEFORUS That was a pretty good try over at Yonkers, considering the one month off. Tells me this guy is sharp! He’s bounced up and down the class ladder for a while. But, he doesn’t have much early zip. That’s issue.
8 DULL ROAR The Dob got the call last week when Nap didn’t make it here. He really got the job done too! Super steer and held on barely. Raced well last time he was at this level too! Nap will look at this bunch, and know he has to leave.
9 ALOTBETTOR N Was given time off and appears to have come back sharp too! That was good, maintenance start down at Freehold from off the pace. Will the tactics change here? There are several closers in here. Post hurts.
10 MCTHRILLER He’s been super solid for a while now, but goes to the gate for new barn. Very tough spot, folks.
9 Ninth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 KENRICK N Went the overland route in the cover flow for his Big M debut and wasn’t bad. Should benefit from that trip over the track. Gets the major post relief here and a switch to Mitch. I can make a case he gets a little closer.
2 ALL WEEK Took a ton of money for some reason last week and they were almost right! Obviously horse was live. Just got rolling a little too late. Pat sticks with him here, from a similar post. Expect them to be out and grinding.
3 WESTERN DELIGHT N Ends up in a tougher spot, after a lackluster comebacker. He will need an easier field. Is adding Lasix tonight, so maybe that will help.
4 PRETTY BOY HILL Andy simply stole one with this guy last week! Have to give credit where due, and it was a two-win night for the barn as well. Hikes up the ladder a notch here, but Andy did choose over #5. Telling choice. Speed again?
5 BULLET BOB I don’t have a good history on guessing for Bob when he comes here. Fact that Andy chose to drive #4 isn’t a good sign. Bob has some back class, so he wouldn’t be a total shocker. Demand fair price if you fancy.
6 ROOTIN TOOTIN Now that the barn is “off the schneid” we can start looking at horses like this. Had a comeback start and it was much tougher spot over at Yonkers. This is about where he belongs. Can you say wakeup call? I can.
7 EVER AGAIN I also have a bad history of guessing on this gelding. But, he doesn’t look sharp right now. I’ll pass.
8 WHITTAKER N The classic case of “locked in and loaded” last time. So, don’t be surprised if this guy gets way overbet. I do wonder what Eric C will do? Blast, or take back and wait. That’s probably the key to the race for him.
9 WINGSONG JACK We’ve all seen him win here before. But, like I said, if the Burke returnees are coming up short this weekend, it will be the same for Jack. He might need one, and this post gives perfect reason to race from behind.
10 TACT TATE N And, what do we do with this guy? Changed it up for new barn last time, but still looked a little “tough to drive.” It’s post 10. It’s a very competitive field. IF price comes up short, I will probably swing against.
10 Tenth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 IWILLMAKEYOUSAYWOW Last time we saw Wow at this level, he won confidently on front end. Guess what? Same thing could be coming here. Corey drove him that night and is aboard again. Rail gives lots of options. Hard go against.
2 SOLO STORY Been suffering a real case of the bad post blues of late. That finally changes tonight. Horse was live, but against weaker here earlier. This might still be one level too high. We’ll see.
3 ASLAN The two starts here saw him buried against very tough fields. Can’t say I’m in love with that effort over at Yonkers, but the trip was tough. This might finally be the level where he can threaten. Will have to get by #1. Not easy.
4 TERROR OF THE NITE Wow, he almost stole one two weeks ago. Extra week off, after the tough speed try probably a good thing. I don’t foresee him setting the pace in here, but he likes to grind and finish too! Usable longshot.
5 SMILEANDSAYCHEESE Proved that the win was no fluke! Came flying home again last week despite the bump up in class. Loses his regular driver here, which worries me. But, sharp horses demand respect. Hoping for hot pace.
6 ALL ARTIST Barn simply hasn’t had them geared up just yet. I will be watching for the signs, though.
7 BARIMAH A This was Eric C’s choice over #5. A telling one, too! Gelding has been consistently good for quite a while now. He’s best as a one-run closer, and all the power is to the inside. At mercy of both pace and trip tonight.
8 LIMELIGHT BEACH I think this is a little too high for the Beach right now. That, plus outside post have me preferring others for now. He will have to jump up with a huge one to beat this group from a bad post.
9 BRUCE’S MAGIC Bruce was a little empty on that off track last week. I’m not going to hold it against that much. Most of the time he delivers the goods. However, Corey was listed against and opted to #1. That tells us something.
10 ELECTRIC WESTERN Very aggressive attempts last week and couldn’t quite finish. Time to race from behind now.
11 Eleventh Race Entries
Picks: 1-5-3-4
H Horse Comment
1 JACK’S A ROCKIN I thought for sure he would need that race here last week, just to acclimate. And that’s exactly what happened. Finished up with just enough go to know that he will be better this week. Can’t leave out.
2 MCARDLES LIGHTNING Hasn’t done much pacing lately, so he’s a continued pass for the moment.
3 HOPE FOR BADLANDS I know his recent form doesn’t look very good, but it was a bit odd that Corey chose here, over #4,10. Is that a hint that gelding might be ready to return to form? I don’t know. I’m not sold just yet.
4 GIACODELIGHT Had Callahan opted here, I would probably be more positive on the class drop. Did not have a good start here against better, and then scratched in the bad weather last week. Will need to turn it around bigtime.
5 VILLE VALO I don’t know what to tell you about those last two at Freehold. Big time disappointment. However, I will remind you about his prior success here. He’s eligible to bounce back in a big way on the mile track. Expect it.
6 SPIRIT OF TRUTH I really thought he had big chance to steal that race last week and he couldn’t hold on. When you get beat by Victory one week, and then get forced up in class the next week, I am off the bandwagon.
7 BUD BAY Been off too long and almost surely has to need this start. Didn’t see enough in the qualifier. Pass.
8 KINGSLEY B Hasn’t shown anything here yet, so he looks like a continued pass. Especially with switch to bad post.
9 ROOSTER RABBIT Finds his way over to the mile track tonight, and he has been here before. Problem here is the post, and his apparent lack of speed? Yannick is used to him, so maybe he can coax up a little early zip here. Maybe.
10 LIFE HAPPENED Just not going very well right now and that’s compounded by post 10. Horse would need a lot of luck to get into fray here. Might even need that one last drop to the bottom class.
12 Twelfth Race Entries

1 SKYWAY BILLY Stormed home here against the 10’s. Got a little tired vs. the 12.5’s down at Freehold. Now he’s in against some 15’s and 20’s. Isn’t this too high? I think so. Eric C will just sit in, save ground and try to get lucky late.
2 DRUNKEN TERROR Did not show much in the first start for his new barn. I will pass again off that effort.
3 BAY RUM It looked like Bay was buried in against that group last week, and that was the case. He might even still be in too tough with these. At least he gets a good post. Will grind into the action, but will need a bigger kick late.
4 ROGER MACH EM Still waiting on the wakeup call here. It will come eventually, but we will have to guess. I’m not always good at guessing when. Your call, folks?
5 OBSCENE BLUE CHIP Made a surprising miscue way behind the gate two weeks ago. Extra week off. That will probably help. I look for him to bounce back better in here, from the ideal post. Yannick will get him straight now.
6 BEACHCHIP HANOVER Has been very live in this class for a while now. It will be the same tonight. Certainly has the speed to get involved early and hope for a trip behind #8. Corey knows him now. Eligible upsetter here.
7 PICKLED PREACHER Was no match for #8 the last time they squared off. Had a clunker, and then a scratch over at Yonkers. I guess it’s tough to get a handle on his form right now. I will likely prefer others.
8 ITSNOPROBLEMMAN And, finally the favorite! Deserved a little time off, after those bruising front end wins. He’s in for the $20K tag tonight, so that gets him the outside post. Probably doesn’t matter. If sharp, he’ll win again.
13 Thirteenth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 ANDWIN HANOVER Eric C really put this guy in play last week and it didn’t work out late. Now, it’s Eric A in the seat and we know he likes to leave too! One of SEVEN class droppers in here, so is it really a drop? Probably not.
2 FRANKIE BOY Frankie stopped in his last two, so he looks like a pass right now. Just no stamina.
3 SISKEL I’ve been beaten up by this guy a bunch late, so I will officially get off the bandwagon. So, he’ll probably win, but I can’t go to the well anymore.
4 WEBMASTER HANOVER Note the subtle improvement with speed last time. That, plus the Lasix added is telling me horse might be ready to return to form sooner rather than later. I would use him, if the price was okay.
5 LEGION OF BOOM It’s been a long time between dances for this guy. Rolled at a really good clip for Yannick last week and ran out of gas. Yannick opted for #8 tonight, as expected. I can’t really say I’m on this bandwagon either.
6 SPORTSMANSHIP Here’s one that has clearly returned to form. I don’t always like dead-closers like this, but I do anticipate some action in here. I will be on board this guy tonight, and hope the price makes it worth it.
7 URBAN RENEWAL Couple months off, and a so-so comeback qualifier. I think he’s going to need a race or two.
8 NEWS WATCH Found a nice, cozy soft spot down at Freehold and jogged. This is a significant step up with switch to mile track. Will need even more speed to beat these, but it’s a bad idea to doubt connections. Your call, at what price?
9 WHITE BLISS The post gods certainly have not been kind to this camp. I have a feeling he might be racing from the bad again and I doubt he can sweep the whole field.
10 UF ROCKIN DRAGON Left the gate and tired on the off track last week. Now, it’s a tougher post, but a slight drop. I really don’t know what to expect from this guy, but barn did have good weekend last week. Very tough call.
