1 First Race Entries
Picks: 5-10-3-1
H Horse Comment
1 SPORTS COWBOY That’s as close as he’s gotten last week, with that solid, two-move effort. But, that’s also where he tends to finish! Underneath. Mr. Sheridan certainly has a prime time player in here, and will use rail to advantage.
2 I’M SID THE KID Up the Turnpike from Freehold with a real mixed bag of efforts. Likely to sit, save ground, try rally.
3 DANCING RUSTY 11YO put it all together after the reclaim by barn. It was a nice trip and drive, so Yogi will be tested here to put the gelding in a similar spot. And, you’re not going to get 10-1 this week. Hoping for some sort hot pace.
4 NO TEARS BLUE CHIP Tough to make a strong case for success, based on current form. Just one win over last year.
5 WALTZACROSSTHEWIRE Recent claim by solid barn in that category. Not exactly a positive sign that he’s dropping after just one try for $10K, but Bob L once said, “If they can’t do, you have to drop them!” Solomon’s been here before.
6 E L DARTSMYBOY After getting good there for a little bit, it seems this guy has tailed off again. Wasn’t even much of a threat for the $5K tag down at the Hold. This is significant step back up, so he’ll need a whole lot more, Mr. Watson.
7 THE CATAMOUNT KID 6YO gelding seems to have rounded into decent form, so this could be live longshot for pilot! However, horse does appear to be a one-way closer, so totally at mercy of pace and trip. Needs one too!
8 TIJUANA PARTY Thanks to Michael Cruse for being our “In The Sulky” guest tonight to honor Dr. King. His drive here has shown some speed before, so don’t be surprised to see this one fire out strongly. How far he goes? Not sure.
9 ATOMIC REI Picked up several checks when here before, so that experience is a good thing! Tonight’s problem is post! Especially with #8 likely leaving just inside. That hurts. It will be up to Washington to “somehow” get a trip.
10 DAVID THE SAINT Anytime the favorite draws post 10, you have to take an extra look. Like #5, he’s also dropping, but clearly in much better form. He was “pointed” to this race, but no easy task for Chad Washington. Long mile likely.

1 PIERCEWAVE HANOVER Did good work last year, winning five times, banking over $80K. I do believe he’s raced here a couple times too! Probably won’t be fully cranked and ready for this. Plus, I think he’s overmatched anyway.
2 THISGUYISONFIRE Very tough call here. Lightly-raced 5YO has some serious talent, but I’m beginning to believe he needs at least a 5/8 mile oval, or better yet, the mile track. And then, he’s got to face a group like this! Tough spot.
3 FRASER RIDGE Was very carefully raced from off the pace in first Big M try and boy did he fly home! Eye-catching kind of rally, so is there any way he can get a trip and split some of these favorites? I don’t know. I’d want price too!
4 TROLLEY Sometimes, as a driver, you do the right thing for the horse, and then you get a “little lucky!” That was case last week. However, did you see this guy trot up a storm once free? Super impressive. What will trip be tonight?
5 MUSCLE DIAMOND Iron-tough 7YO did ALL of the dirty work last week, battling by the leaders and got just outsprinted by Trolley late. Don’t hold that against him. He still races super EVERY time here. Can he grind down #6?
6 MELADY’S MONET The Monet has marched right up the conditioned ladder with easy, and uber impressive wins. Tonight’s the real test, because both #4,5 are super sharp. He’s got the outside. AND, another new driver. Your call?
3 Third Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 MONTALBANO BI The Bi turned in another “just fair” performance last time, but he did stay trotting! So, that’s a good thing. Moves to a midpack post tonight, which is probably better for him. Is it time to toss him into the mix?
1A IRON DOME The Dome was okay at the end of the mile last week, which is also his game. Draws one slot outside his partner here, and they’re both hoping for some action up front. With power stuck outside, that may happen.
2 BREAK FREE Second start off the long layoff here, but I still don’t think he’s ready. Have to watch at least one more.
3 FELONA Didn’t make much of an impact in that first go here. Yes, she probably needed the race, but I’d still need to see a good one before I could endorse. Let’s see if we get any more trot in the tank tonight.
4 GUSTAVO FRING Same boat as #3. Needed that first one here, just to acclimate. Was well-bet in every start at Philly. Keeps his regular pilot aboard and drew a key inside post. I can make a better case for this one, with grinding rally.
5 SERGEANT SEELSTER What can I tell you, folks! Somehow, someway, Andy kept him trotting as long as he could last week, and they got lucky that the wire came in time. Another jump, and he would have been DQ’d. Not reliable.
6 JUSTCALLMERONALD Form here has been just okay. Couple tough trips. Perfect midpack post here, and pilot might change up the strategy. This is good spot to leave and maybe sit behind the Sergeant? I’d want that trip.
7 A J DESTINY Mitch keeps giving this guy a chance. Horse did last a “little longer” last week, but wasn’t really gaining vs. Lauderdale. This is different group here, and he’ll probably blast, hoping for a trip behind #5. That might work.
8 BELL A CHICK One of the “dead red" closers in here and he was no match for the Sarge last week either. This post is the problem tonight and he’s drawn outside the entrymates. Is he really going to outkick them? I say no.
9 PHOTO KING Corey put this fella in the right spot behind the Sarge last week and he also wasn’t gaining. Almost “inherited” the victory, but needed one more jump. I see mad dash out of gate in here. He WILL need a trip tonight.
4 Fourth Race Entries

H Horse Comment
1 BACKSEAT TERROR She hasn’t won yet, so that’s always an issue when you have 21 starts. That really wasn’t a bad try here off the layoff, however. The post is still good. Same trip coming. Sits in, saves ground, tries to get lucky late.
2 YOU SHOULD BE HERE Last time here, that was virtually a stakes race! This field is 10 times softer than that one. This is second time Lasix. That wasn’t a bad try at Freehold. She gets the Nap back. All systems say go, folks!
3 LULU DE VIE Also added Lasix for her latest qualifier and her new barn. Team Fusco is having a strong meet here and they excel in “project horses” like this. Let’s look for Lulu to be live at a price tonight. She is usable.
4 JK LOCKHERUP Back and forth between Yonkers and Monti on the half. Some solid miles too! I’ll also note that she took her mark on a big track up in Canada. Is she really a fit with these? I’m not so sure just yet. Must prove it first.
5 PARTYON PARTYGIRL In the Mixed Sale on Monday, so this is last chance to shine. She’s been in some really good fields along the way and she might also appreciate the switch to bigger oval. Not easy spot, but definitely on go!
6 GIRL ALMIGHTY The “youngster” of the group did not disgrace herself in the one try here. That was much faster than she’d ever been, so let’s give credit for that. I think the post will give her bigger test here, but I’ll be watching closely.
7 KEYSTONE KRYSTAL Had a very good start when last seen here. Took an aggressive speed try at Yonkers and got tired. Draws outside post again, but gets Yannick back. Mixed feelings tonight, especially at low odds. In Mixed Sale.
8 SILK REED Keep in mind that she comes out of that same “key race” here as #3. This lass basically just tried to keep up. But, she also has plenty of experience here. My big knock is the case of post position blues. Will need a trip.
9 PARKIN IN HEAVEN Back into the Buter barn, after a futile trip up to Canada for a series. The speed she offered here wasn’t bad, so maybe we can look ahead to easier spot from better post. And then, a return to form?
5 Fifth Race Entries
Picks: 7-2-5-6
H Horse Comment
1 TONY SOPRANO Still a little bit of a headcase behind the gate, requiring assistance to start. After that, he seems fine. The qualifier was okay, but I do wish he wasn’t on the rail here. Not sure that’s the best place to start. In Mixed Sale.
2 RUBBER DUCK The Duck couldn’t quite get the job done last week, as the heavy favorite. He did race well, but ran into a bearcat that was super that night. Gets to race in the same class again, but might need more speed this time.
3 BASTILLE Surely put it all together for Pat Berry last week! Solid trip and drive, and horse was very good too! That was against weaker, so now begins the ascent back up the class ladder. This is no easy spot vs. #2,7. Good luck!
4 ARCH CREDIT Been doing okay work, and at a big price. I like that speed he offers, but would like to see more of a finish. I don’t really think he can beat these, but he might round out a tri or super at good odds. Very usable.
5 HOT SUMMER KNIGHT The Knight was rolling along at a strong clip until the Duck came calling. He was no match for that rival and seems stuck in same spot again. Midpack post is ideal, but I doubt he brushes. Tonight, he’ll wait.
6 BLITZ VICTORY Keeps outracing his odds for the Mitch Express! Since gelding is versatile, I do wonder what the plan will be tonight. He’s got one fave inside, and one directly outside. This is significant step up. Very tough call.
7 OPULENT YANKEE We still haven’t seen the Yankee we saw last winter. Sometimes, all it takes is a class drop and this is a big one. The post won’t matter, because his speed is sterling. It’s the stamina I’m worried about. Gives #2 a test.
8 MANDELA BLUE CHIP What a picture perfect drive that was from Nap last week. You knew the whole way home that he was going by. Unfortunately, he’s not exactly “rewarded” with this post now. Have to go against, on class hike.
9 STAR STUDDED CAST Took the eight-hole “Tour of the Track” at Yonkers on Tuesday. Back on short rest, from another bad post. He looks like a pass from way out here.
10 LAUDERDALE Over his last two tries, the Dale has finally looked like his old self. That was dominant performance to beat up on weaker. Tonight’s step up, plus post 10 are serious problems. I don’t think he can beat these from out here.

1 NARCIAN JEWEL Just missed last time, with another solid try. Gets forced up the class ladder again, but she’s not without a chance on rail. The Mann can do what he wants to try and protect position. Only needs get out late.
2 CHILLIN IT DE VIE Second back off the layoff and another good inside post. The class drop to boot. It’s hard to predict when the wakeup call comes, but it’s not totally out of the question. I’m going to wait one more start.
3 FOLLOWTHEWIND N Just missed pulling the big upset at Yonkers on Tuesday. That’s a classy mare that won that race too! I’m not a fan of the short rest thing, but she needed that start anyway. Definitely a threat to the faves again.
4 GIVEMEYOURHEART Won the war with #1 when they squared off two weeks ago. As previously stated with this mare, she tends to win on drops, not hikes. Therefore, I’m going against this evening. I’ll let her beat me, if she can.
5 OK HEAVENLY Well, if you followed up on that locked-in loss, you got the same price: 2-5. She steps back up a notch, but can probably handle it a little better. Double D’s choice over #3, and a big post edge on #8.
6 PLAIN OLD JANE Won pretty handily here two back, but that came against vastly lesser. Just toss the outside post race at the Hilltop. This is still a brand new ballgame for this mare. I think she’s a touch overmatched here.
7 THE SPINSTER N Was very “live” here last month and was just unlucky with a bad trip. Nothing happened over at Yonkers, so she’s quickly back here. The problem now is the post. Is she going to fire out? I wish I knew.
8 STYLISH BEACHWHERE Likely the key to the race, from a pace perspective. I can’t imagine Andy just taking back on this big class drop. She’s overdue to showcase her best here. It’s time to step up and deliver the goods.

1 TEXICAN No idea what happened last time, as he was completely empty. Therefore, I have no idea what to expect for tonight on a significant class hike. Yes, he has the rail, but would need a very top effort to threaten these.
2 MISS RUBY Definitely in good form right now, but she’s also taking a big bump up the ladder tonight. I do like the post, and her versatility, but I still have to rate her a medium longshot. Gets another new driver too!
3 SEVEN IRON On the comeback trail here and that first start back really wasn’t bad. With just a little more in the tank tonight, the 4YO could be heard from. Also needs a easier journey, but that can happen from good post. In the sale!
4 JUST FOR YOU That was pretty fine try last week, against a heavily-favored winner that just stalked. I liked the way this mare fought, so that’s a positive indicator. Like others in here, she’s also stepping up. Won’t cruise on lead here.
5 SIGNAL HILL Been a “project horse” for a long time, and he’s probably not ready for this. Needs a class drop too!
6 FLY ON Loved his finish two back. Got outkicked to the line by #7 last week, unlucky to lose. He’s clearly returned to top form now and tonight’s the night to bet. Andy could easily change tactics here and leave. Don’t leave out.
7 CHROMEO Lot of people were on board this boat last week and they got a little lucky. Take nothing away from the horse’s effort, though. He was very good, and finished up full of trot. I’ll add that we get new driver tonight as well.
8 ARRAKIS Keeps racing well. Keeps getting good trips from Dex, but this again looks like way too tough a spot. I expect several inside rivals leaving, so maybe its time to give this guy one from the back? I’ll go with that.
9 TWO AM This fella was cruising along on the lead in the Preferred, until reality set in. Don’t hold that against him. Tonight’s problem is the post, and potential pace scenario. Not sure it works out in his favor, so I may pass.

1 DEUCES FOR CHARITY Hasn’t really distinguished herself at this level yet, so she’s a longshot one more time.
2 SHEER TALENT That was a sterling try, and a good, heady drive from Vinny last week. He almost stole it, until that 2-5 kicked in. Still, it was giant step in the right direction and they’ve clearly got her sharp. Can easily be used again.
3 VELOCITY LANA MIA for several weeks, so that’s a problem. And, she had a very good journey last time here and flattened out. Was she sick? Obviously, I don’t know what. Would need a huge return to form after three weeks off.
4 ICOMMANDMYSPIRIT This is usually her level. May have needed that race last week, after missing bit of time sick. When good, she flies off the wings of the car, so expect speed. That puts her in play, and may get her great trip.
5 NORTHERN SWIFT Just no luck lately for this mare, but I think that’s about to change tonight. Impossible trips in each of last few. Tonight, I see no problems. Right to the lead, Corey and she should “outclass” them. Lock on!
6 DUCK DUCK DRAGON Barn’s had a great meet here so far, so why not ship this mare up the Turnpike for a big track try? Unfortunately, she’s found a pretty tough spot here. IF she guns, she faces #5 immediately. Won’t be easy.
7 OUR ELS DREAM N Has found the waters at this level a tad too deep lately. That, plus she loses the inside post help. It’s not going to work out too well from this slot. Have to wait for softer spot.
8 BIG CHUTE Seems to have no speed, so that never helps. Totally at mercy of both pace and trip. It worked a little better last time, but I don’t see same scenario here. If she sweeps the field, that will beat me. In Mixed Sale Monday.
9 LADY OF HEAVEN She’s actually in pretty good form right now, and that’s always a good thing heading into the Mixed Sale on Monday. She’s got overwhelming task here from post nine. Will need a lot of luck to win this.

1 CASH FOR GOLD Went back to “home base” at Yonkers and failed at low odds twice! I’ve already taken a bath on him here, so I’ll probably swing against and watch him beat me. Expect Corey to be aggressive. The one to catch.
2 MARION GONDOLIER This is definitely getting to be “wakeup call” territory for this gelding. I like the move to inside post. Should end up with a good trip sitting close to #1. I’ll opt for the potentially better price here and take a shot!
3 TAG UP AND GO That was an exceptionally good qualifier, folks. Outsprinted a legitimate Open-type trotter in Piercewave. So, the new barn appears to have figured him out. Plenty of back class to work with. Wouldn’t talk you off.
4 TECH TITAN That bad post just ruined his chances last week, so don’t hold that against him. The class hike probably didn’t help either. Since he rarely offers “the right price” to use, let’s take a shot against him again. Will need a trip.
5 TOUR DE LINDY Came flying home against well-meant Texican two weeks ago. While on paper, this looks like a class drop, I’m not so sure in reality. Best asset here is the midpack post. Will be stalking, and hoping to pounce late.
6 ILLINIMIGHT Took a BIG step in the right direction last week. Looked better on the track. Kicked in with a good, stout rally and never looked rough. However, he’s also facing a better grouping here, so even more will be required.
7 STITCH IN TIME Usually I’d like in a spot like this on a class drop. But, not tonight. I don’t see him blasting. And, I don’t see him sweeping them all. I will wait for softer spot later on.
8 CHELSEES A WINNER Also moves back out to much tougher starting slot. She’s also been buried in some real tough spots too! This may be another. While she can leave the gate, I don’t feel this is the right situation to blast. We’ll see.
9 APLOMB HANOVER Talk about the bad post blues! How bout this guy? Post nine for the third straight time. That’s almost not fair and Jordan will just take him around the track from the back.
10 Tenth Race Entries
Picks: 6-4-7-9
H Horse Comment
1 ACEFOURTYFOUR ALEX Did race a little bit better in the second try here, but not enough to make me want to bet. Best asset again, is the inside post. Only has to ride the pylons and try to get lucky late. Stranger things have happened.
2 MYLITTLESURFERGIRL Still not sharp enough in my opinion, but I will note that Yannick was listed on three in here and opted for this mare. We all remember the run she went on last summer. Ready to return to form? Not sure.
3 LOOKOUT STOKK ZONE Tough to get a real read on this lass. She’s raced a little bit better last few, but not enough to make me want to bet. She’s had decent trips too! I still need to see more, before I could endorse.
4 FOX VALLEY BAILEY Despite the price hike, The Mann sent her out of post 10 last week and it didn’t work out. She seemed so much better in “attack mode,” so I expect a return to that. Should offer the right price to use in here.
5 ANGEL SPEAK Can’t really make a case for her in current form. Wasn’t much threat last time seen here.
6 HEPBURN HANOVER Thought she was in the right spot last week and she was! Brushed and crushed, and seemed to have more in the tank. Moves out a few slots now, but is still the one to beat. Might even offer fair value again.
7 EMBASSY SEELSTER Took ALL the betting action last week in the race won by #6. Had the much tougher trip, but was never going by at any point. What will the price be tonight? Especially drawing further outside. Good luck!
8 BIG LIS Had Yannick opted here, I could be a lot more positive. Faced better in both tries here, but stopped. Maybe just not a mile track horse? Drew tough post. Not sure I can back this one from the far outside.
9 DANGEROUSPRECEDENT Been racing her eyeballs out of late, so definitely deserved a week off. Tonight’s problem is the same as last time, the post! She’ll fire out, but can’t be over-used. If that happens, she does get tired.
10 LIVE ODDS Retains longshot status from the dreaded 10-box. That’s not going to work.
11 Eleventh Race Entries
Picks: 8-6-1-4

1 DOWNUNDERMATTER After hating the spot he was in last week, I like this spot a whole lot better. Dex knows the horse now, and that’s a big help. There are some “question marks” in here. The post is good. Time to use again.
2 TWO HIP DIP The Dip is forced up the class ladder now, and he squeezes in for the condition! That was a pretty good try against uncatchable winner last week, so I’ll give credit for that. Drew well to sit close. He’s a factor with these.
3 QUIET GIANT Had one start off the layoff and looks like he will need another. Not ready for this just yet.
4 ODYSSEY BLUE CHIP Also had his “obligatory” trip over the track. Okay. Since he was very consistent up at home base, we’ll give him some respect in here and expect more. Would love to see him take some tote action too. Maybe.
5 CON AIR HALL MIA for several weeks off a sick scratch, so that’s an issue. Not sure he’s ready to beat these on the class hike anyway. I will prefer others for now.
6 STARSABOVEALLERAGE Gave it an aggressive try last week and was a little disappointing. I liked him that night. I do wonder what the plan will be here? There isn’t all that much speed to the inside. Can he blast? Wish I knew.
7 CASINO CUTIE IT A little bit of an improved start last time. Did pass a few late, so that’s a step in the right direction. I just don’t like the outside post drawn again. She might be a little too far back again. Hoping for hot pace setup.
8 SHADY MCCOY Exactly like #1. I hated the spot last week. This is totally different. I would be shocked if we didn’t see Shady fire out of the gate. IF he were to deliver his “old self kind of effort, he can beat these. Do not dismiss.
9 DULUTH Really had a tough trip in both starts here, so I’m not holding that against him. The bad luck continues here with a poor post draw. He doesn’t usually blast, so I’ll take the negative view tonight and wait for softer spot.
12 Twelfth Race Entries

1 MIKEY LIKES IT Completely inconsistent horse is very hard to handicap, folks. Almost an “in-and-outer?” Meaning he races well every other start? Best asset here is the rail. IF he guns to protect, might end up right behind #2. That’s good.
2 DERF HANOVER Derf’s had a real easy time of it lately here at Club Med and guess what? This looks pretty easy again. I think we’re looking at about 2-5 at off time and I don’t see anything in here that can trot with him right now.
3 TROPICAL SPLASH AS Maybe this guy will wake up a little on the mile track for Scotty D? That one win at Philly could be enough to put a scare into Derf. But, coming off a break, Andy is liable to be extra careful with gelding. We’ll see.
4 SEVENBUYELEVEN Going with no hopples off the layoff here, and he’s definitely not ready for this. A pass for now.
5 HAMMER TIME Won like the “International Good Thing” last week. Okay. It was strong effort and he dug in gamely to hold on. Ya got $5 on the win end. Price will be better tonight. Do you really put him in same league with Derf?
6 DAWSON SPRINGS It’s been a slow trip on the comeback trail here. Yes, he’s been buried in some tough spots, but he doesn’t get away from Derf just yet. AND, he’s got the tougher post! Tell me leaves, and I’ll tell you to use.
7 FINAL DREAM Suffering a real case of the bad post blues right now. It continues and this looks like an almost impossible spot.

1 BELIEVE IN ME Moves inside and technically gets a class drop. Although, in reality, this is NO easy spot. She’s not really a leaver, so I don’t know how much help the rail will be. Likely to sit in, save ground, and try to get lucky.
2 CASA MIASA She’s been off too long, so this looks like a needed maintenance kind of race. Pass for me.
3 STORMTRACKER Wow, that was something last week! Got real rough. Got back into the race. And then came to an absolute walk at end of mile. I’m actually surprised to see her back in the box. Hoping for the big bounce back.
4 KAK’S SHARK ATTACK After that super performance of last month, she’s tailed off. Yes, these mares are sometimes a little inconsistent. I have a feeling the Kak will find this field a little more to her liking. Maybe usable at a price?
5 KAY’S DELIGHT Hasn’t come all that close here yet. That has to change at some point. But, I do wonder about her racing style. If totally at mercy of pace and trip, you can’t rely on her. That’s a tough call, in a race with Penpal in it.
6 CUTS LIKE A KNIFE She beat Penpal in a big upset back on Dec. 21. She also packs solid speed, which will almost surely be used tonight. The price should still be good, so I say go ahead and use! I just wish she’d drawn inside.
7 PENPAL Yes, the Pen did it to you again. But, this time, she had NO excuse. Corey had her perfectly positioned and she just ran into a bearcat in Delight. No such foes in here, so short price coming again. Good luck with that.

1 ZETTE STARLING Extra week off. Been just okay here so far. This is a field FULL of question marks, so I suggest including this lass in your gimmicks. She might hit the ticket just by saving ground.
2 MUAY HANOVER Admittedly not one of my favorites, but in a field like this, from a post like this, with Corey still aboard, that makes him usable as well. The Cap might step right around #1 and then wait. Should get a trip.
3 BOYZ N GUITARS Couple months off. Good, but slowish comeback qualifier at Dover. They choose to race him here, which makes me wonder. Why not just stay at Dover? I guess we’ll find out. Would love to see some speed.
4 CAN DO Very mixed feelings about this guy right now. Last winter, at this time, he would be 1-5 in a field like this and crush. However, his last three starts here have been very lackluster, with NO finish. Will he be better tonight? Wish knew.
5 BIG CHECKMATE I think we’ve given him more than enough chances. Stopped two back. Broke last time. Extra week off. Not really what to expect tonight, but I can’t really endorse either.
6 CANT U SPELL Had A Nap opted here, I would have been a lot more positive. Had the start over the track off the layoff and it wasn’t terrible, considering broken equipment. But, with trainer driving, I’m out for now.
7 ARCHIBALD Just breaks for no reason, so I can’t honestly recommend you betting hard-earned cash on him. Once upon a time, he could have crushed this field too! But, that was then, and this is now.
8 RUFAS DE VIE Still not sure about him being a fit here at M1. I see sickness. I see breaks. I see a bad post here. Pass.
9 KNIGHTOFVICTORY His overall form has improved slightly. Overcame a bad post like this to pick up a check last time. That’s three straight checks, so that’s not bad. Will need a little more luck to get rolling again from the back.
10 EYORE HANOVER Never really entered the fray last week, which was surprising, considering how much money he took. What are we going to get tonight? Can he leave? Even a little? That IS the key to the race, as A Nap’s choice.
