Burning Point and Whata Baron Legs Highlight Saturday at The Meadowlands
Saturday, April 14, 2018
The Meadowlands returns with a ten spot of live races on Saturday night, led by the second leg of the $17,500 Whata Baron and Burning Point series.
The Burning Point comes up in races 2 and 3 with both winners of leg #1 drawing into the first split. Bettorhaveanother (PP #2 Corey Callahan) and Apple Bottom Jeans (PP #5 Vic Kirby) are quite familiar with one and other having battled through the winter months at Dover Downs. Last week they each took their respective series division with Apple Bottom Jeans 1:50.3 score a second faster than her rival. Kevin Switzer conditions Apple Bottom Jeans for owner KDK Standardbreds. Ron Burke trains Bettorhaveanother for himself as Burke Racing and partner Weaver Bruscemi.
Valuable Art (PP #6 Callahan) is a slight morning line choice in race 3, having lost her first leg start to Bettorhaveanother by a mere head. She is another Delawarian, representing her owner Breakaway Racing and trainer Shaun Callahan.
Windsong Leo did nothing but impress Meadowlands faithful with his convincing 1:50.2 score in leg #1 of the Whata Baron series for driver Jimmy Marohn, Jr. He was winning for the sixth time already this season and is looking like the horse to beat in the upcoming April 21 $53,000 final for trainer Ron Burke who owns him in partnership Weaver Bruscemi and Phil Collura.
The weather is forecast to be delightful on Saturday, providing a lovely backdrop for an evening out enjoying the sport.
The Meadowlands will again be giving away money in the
Tax Relief promotion
, sign up and get money for nothing while The Beatles reprise their classic "Tax Man" anthem in the background.
Post time is 7:15 pm. Don't miss it.
