Positive Changes Galore in Store for 2013

Racing fans anxious for the return of the world’s greatest harness action will be greeted with many exciting changes in 2013.

From a new front office staff stressing unsurpassed customer service to a revamped stakes schedule and betting menu, and fan-friendly promotions, the New Meadowlands will continue to offer great wagering and entertainment value as a new grandstand rises in the backstretch.

The new stakes menu will be spiced up with the emphasis on more seasoned performers, starting with the All Sires for three-year-old pacers who were nonwinners of $100,000 in 2012.  The Meadowlands Maturity will be for four-year-old pacers and trotters.  The Hudson River is a traveling series for four and five-year-old Open Pacers.

Action will really heat up in the Fall when the new grandstand makes its debut and there will be two $500,000 Meadowlands FFA Championships on the trot and pace.  Three-year-old winners of the Meadowlands Pace, Hambletonian and Breeders Crown will be invited with possible Horse of the Year honors on the line.

Also on November 30, the Fall Final Four returns with the Goldsmith Maid, Governor’s Cup, Three Diamonds and Valley Victory.

The ABC system of classification has been revived to make overnight racing even more competitive.

The new wagering format menu provides the bettors with more of what they want, and the most popular bet, an additional Pick 4.  The early Pick 4 has a nightly guarantee of $25,000, and the late Pick 4 guarantee is $50,000 Thursday and Friday, and $75,000 on Saturday.

New technology will provide behind-the-scenes coverage from the race paddock to further enhance an award winning simulcast signal.

In addition to free admission and free live racing programs on Thursday and Friday, New Meadowlands guests looking for some additional fun only need to visit the Paddock Level Promotions Table for information on a busy line-up of nightly contests like Harness Racing Bingo.

World Free Poker and Handicapping tournaments are back, including the big one, the World Harness Handicapping Championship on April 13.

Terraces Restaurant now offers a fabulous Wine and Food Pairing Buffet.

The New Meadowlands is a perfect combination of what’s new and the tradition of major events such as the Hambletonian.

World class racing and wagering options, fun promotions, great food and entertainment value in an energetic, customer-is-King environment.

It all gets underway Opening Weekend, Friday, December 28 and Saturday, December 29.
